A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD Dear Fellow Chamber Members, Happy New Year! Although the chamber’s new year started in October, there is now doubt that this time of year is special and great opportunity to reflect and make plans for the rest of 2014. Many of you probably made a few New Year’s resolutions such as going on a diet. If you did, I hope you can give yourself a pass for February 6th as the chamber hosts our 2014 Epicurean Evening at Space Center Houston. One of my resolutions was to Buy into Bay Area. I’ve already started by giving our local businesses the chance to earn my business and keep those dollars here in our community. It is a resolution that has already paid off and I’ve been able to award business to a chamber member who it turns out is also a member of my credit union. Talk about a win-win. Building future leaders and employee development are resolutions that I believe are important to the future of all organizations. That is why I encourage my teammates at work to attend the chamber’s business development seminars such as the one coming up on January 23rd. I also hope to send a promising team member through the upcoming Leadership Clear Lake program which is scheduled to start in August. This intensive leadership program will help participants explore and develop their own leadership potential through a combination of academic and practical application sessions. My hope is that we all Buy into Bay Area which should make for a prosperous 2014 for our region. Sincerely,
