The imported media will be displayed in the content pane and a folder for the imported media will be created in the collection pane. You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project/movie:

.asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv for Video files.

Windows Movie maker is regularly updated by Microsoft to accommodate more file formats than the ones listed above however it’s imperative to note that not all file extension formats will work. To import media simply click on the “import media” button then browse to the folder where the media files are stored. To select a consecutive list of files hold down the SHIFT button and click the first and last file to select the entire list. To select random files hold down the CLTR button and select the random files. For Images you can alternatively drag the image onto the STORYBOARD.

Step 2: Working With the imported Media Drag the imported media intended for the movie project to the Storyboard. Arrange the Media to form a story or in a way you intend the movie to flow. Thereafter Trim, Split and Combine different parts of the movie if necessary.

Select the appropriate title position you intend the title to appear.

Type out the text for the title. More options appear below the typing screen where you can add animations for the text, font style and font color.
