The Board meeting was called to order by the President, Mr. Piccirillo, at 6:00 PM. Mr. Piccirillo requested those present to stand and join in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Board Members Present: Nancy del Prado, Deborah Escobar, Lisa Gaglioti, Robert Piccirillo, Patrick Ryan, and Pamela Young Board Members Absent: Chad McFarland Administrators Present: Dr. Kathleen Spring, Chris Ruberti, and Lisa Cutting

MOTION made by Mrs. Gaglioti, seconded by Mr. Ryan, that an executive session be convened for the purpose of discussion of particular personnel matters. The motion was passed unanimously, six members present and voting.

MOTION made by Ms. Young, seconded by Mr. McFarland, that the executive session be adjourned at 7:00 PM. The motion was passed unanimously, six members present and voting. The public session was called to order by the President, Mr. Piccirillo, at 7:02 PM. Mr. Piccirillo requested those present to stand and join in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.

Communications – Superintendent

Dr. Spring thanked everyone for their flexibility with the construction and stated that the opening of school has gone well. Mr. Piccirillo agreed and thanked all who have participated in the smooth opening.

Student Representatives -

Jonathan Adamec and Gianna DiGregorio both introduced themselves as the new student representatives.

Jonathan spoke of the positive comments he has heard about the CAT building. He also reported on the first football game and talked about the soccer game that was held in support of a Schalmont player, Davia Rossi, who is suffering from nonHodgkin lymphoma. The soccer game was a fundraiser to support this cause. Gianna reported on band camp and announced that Angela Santabarbara secured $20,000 to help with new band uniforms. She reported on some upcoming events

such as the homecoming, pep rally and powderpuff. She also talked about the positivity of the acceptance committee, peers for peace, unified basketball team, peer mediation, and study circles.

Mr. Piccirillo thanked Dr. Patierne and Mr. Stein and anyone else who was involved in the participation for the soccer game with Schalmont in support of Davia Rossi.

Mr. Piccirillo mentioned that there will be at least one Board member at each open house. He asked for ideas from the Board for presentations they would like to see throughout the year. Board members gave suggestions and a list will be provided at a future time for review. Maria Pacheco, Mohonasen Teacher and MTA President, reported that the Teacher’s Association will be present at the Instructional Board meetings and looks forward to having a nice relationship with the Board for the rest of the year. She also gave a suggestion for a presentation to be held showing where we are at meeting the requirements of graduating students in 2022. Mindy Holland, a Librarian at Bradt and Pinewood, addressed the need for more than one day a week for a Librarian at Bradt.

New Business – Business/Personnel Approval of Budget Reappropriation – Summer Enrichment Program

Kathleen Fiozzo, an English Teacher at the High School, gave thanks to Dr. Patierne and the administration about an initiative that they did to make sure all students have a connection with a staff or faculty member in the building.

Request for Approval and Arrangement of Committee on Special Education Recommendations and Student Placements and Committee on Pre-School Special Education MOTION made by Mrs. del Prado seconded by Mrs. Escobar, that the Board of Education approve and arrange for the recommendations of the Committee on Special Education and Committee on Pre-School Special Education for meetings held on August 9 and 31, 2016. The motion was passed unanimously, six members present and voting. Request Approval of Mohonasen Marching Band to Participate in a Field Band Competition on September 24, 2016 MOTION made by Mrs. Gaglioti, seconded by Ms. Young, that the Board of Education approve the request for the Mohonasen Marching Band to participate in a field trip to Oswego High School in Oswego, New York on Saturday, September 24, 2016. The motion was passed unanimously, six members present and voting. Request Approval of Budget Re-appropriation – Summer Enrichment Program MOTION made by Mrs. Gaglioti, seconded by Mr. Ryan, that the Board of Education amend the 2016-17 budget as follows: Increase A510 Increase A1320.1

Request to Approve Reserve Account Funding MOTION made by Mrs. del Prado, seconded by Ms. Young, that the Board of Education hereby appropriates the sum of $889,567.83 from the 2015-2016 unappropriated unexpended fund balance and authorizes the transfer of such monies from the General Fund to the Retirement Contribution Reserve (ERSA827). The motion was passed unanimously, six members present and voting. MOTION made by Mrs. Escobar, seconded by Ms. Young, that the Board of Education approve the minutes of August 22, 2016. The motion was passed unanimously, six members present and voting.
