SCHALMONT CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MINUTES Meeting of the Schalmont Board of Education August 23, 2010; District Office CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. Motion carried. Mrs. Beloncik, Mr. Della Villa and Mr. Strang excused. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion made by Mr. Falcone, seconded by Mr. Campoli, that the agenda for the August 23, 2010 Board of Education meeting be approved. Motion carried. Mrs. Beloncik, Mr. Della Villa and Mr. Strang excused. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT RESIDENTS’ COMMENTS NEW BUSINESS Social Studies Textbook: Motion made by Mr. Campoli, seconded by Mr. Falcone, that the Board of Education approve the purchase of the textbook entitled Ancient Civilization, published by Houghton Mifflin & Harcourt School Publishers, for use in the Social Studies 6 course. Motion carried. Mrs. Beloncik, Mr. Della Villa and Mr. Strang excused. Tax Levy: Motion made by Mr. Falcone, seconded by Mr. Thompson, that the Board of Education approve the 2010‐11 tax levy of $28,600,000 with a Homestead/Non‐Homestead Middle range. Motion carried. Mrs. Beloncik, Mr. Della Villa and Mr. Strang excused. NonAligned Employment Agreement: Motion made by Mr. Falcone, seconded by Mr. Campoli that the Board of Education approve the employment agreement between the school district and Susan Hsu, District Treasurer, for the period of July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011. Motion carried. Mrs. Beloncik, Mr. Della Villa and Mr. Strang excused. Bid Award/Transportation: Motion made by Mr. Campoli, seconded by Mr. Falcone, that the Board of Education award the student transportation contracts for 2010‐11 as follows: Gateway Transportation, Contract #2010‐01/LaSalle School, $36,995 Northland Transportation, Contract #2010‐02/CDPC, $43,200 Motion carried. Ventilation Bid: Motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Campoli, that the Board of Education award the Woestina ventilation bid to Alpine Environmental Services in the amount of $26,200. Motion carried. Mrs. Beloncik, Mr. Della Villa and Mr. Strang excused. Turner Settlement: Motion made by Mr. Campoli, seconded by Mr. Falcone, that the Board of Education approve the resolution authorizing final payment of $15,000 to Turner Construction. Motion carried. Mrs. Beloncik, Mr. Della Villa and Mr. Strang excused. Fundraiser Requests: Motion made by Mr. Falcone, seconded by Mr. Campoli, that the Board of Education approve the following fund raiser request: Class of 2011‐Ellen Bedell/Terri McCloud ‐ Entertainment Book Sale. CSE/CPSE Recommendations: Motion made by Mr. Thompson, seconded by Mr. Falcone, that the Board of Education approve the recommendations made by the CSE/CPSE committees, at meetings held August 18, 2010.
