MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SOUTH BRUNSWICK BOARD OF EDUCATION AND THE SOUTH BRUNSWICK EDUCATION ASSOCIATION OLD LANGUAGE IS IN ITALIC WITH STRIKETHROUGH TEXT EFFECT NEW LANGUAGE CHANGES ARE IN BOLD All aspects in the current agreement that are not mentioned in this document or attachments hereto will remain unchanged, except dates that need to be changed to coincide with the term of the new Agreement. PREAMBLE This Agreement is entered into this first day of July 20122015, by and between the Board of Education of the Township of South Brunswick, New Jersey, hereinafter called the "Board" and the South Brunswick Education Association, Inc., South Brunswick Township, New Jersey, hereinafter called the "Association." ARTICLE 7 EMPLOYMENT C.
Teachers denied an increment shall be notified on or before April 30th in writing and through the mail to their home. ARTICLE 10 ASSIGNMENT
G.
When a music teacher is assigned to a full teaching schedule during the regular school day and also agrees to teach a music session in the period before or after the normal school day, such teacher shall be paid for each music session at the hourly rate of $36.29$42.00 in 2015-2016; $42.50 in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. The before and/or after school sessions and their compensation shall not be used to limit or modify the full-time status of a teacher for the normal school hours. ARTICLE 19 TEMPORARY LEAVES OF ABSENCE Teachers shall be entitled to the following temporary non-accumulative leaves of absence. B.
Absence for Death 2.
One (1) day leave of absence with pay may be granted upon approval by the Superintendent, or his/her designee to attend the funeral of a close relative or a close friend.

Three (3) days leave of absence with pay will be granted upon request in the event of the death of a(n) aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, brother-in-law or sister-in-law. ARTICLE 23 HEALTH BENEFITS

During the term of this agreement all teachers and their eligible dependents will receive the following benefits: 1.
Medical coverage: Employees may choose any available plan, however, Board contribution toward the premium will not exceed the appropriate premium level for the Direct Access 15 PlanDirect Access 2030 plan, effective September 1, 2015. Any employee who is enrolled in a plan of higher cost than the Direct Access 2030 plan shall pay the full difference between that option and the Direct Access 2030 plan premium by way of equal payroll deductions, and such employee may be subject to any Excise Tax imposed on health benefit premiums by the Affordable Care Act. The Board shall otherwise be responsible for the excise tax.

Prescription Plan: the prescription co-pay for an employee shall be $20 for brand name with a generic available, $15 for brand name with no generic equivalent available, $3 for generic Generic $10, Single Source Brand $20, Multisource Brand $30, and a mail order of the same relevant co-pay ($20, $15, $3$10, $20, $30) for a 90-day supply.

Effective September 1, 2015, the Direct Access 10 plan will no longer be offered.

All employees covered by this Agreement shall contribute towards health insurance on Tier 4 of P.L. 2011, Chapter 78 throughout the life of this agreement.
There shall be a single/full family dental plan. The Board shall pay the full cost of the dental plan coverage for all employees. No additional cost shall be borne by the 2
employee as long as PL Chapter 78 applies. The employee shall have a $25 deductible. The plan maximum shall be $1250 for the Premier plan and $1500 for the PPO plan. Orthodontic coverage of $2,000 per lifetime will be provided for eligible dependents. C.
Any employee who elects to waive medical, prescription and dental benefits will receive, in lieu of the benefits, the following cash payments: •
25% of the board cost $3,500 if the spouse/partner works outside the district.
•
10% of the board cost $1,500 if both spouses/partners work in the district.
•
Board cost is defined as the premium cost minus the employee’s PL Chapter 78 premium sharing contribution. ARTICLE 24 SUMMER EMPLOYMENT
Unit teachers employed after the last day of school in June through August 31 shall be paid at the rates established for July 1 of the next school year. A.
Remedial and enrichment programs at all levels including high school make-up: 1.

Compensation per hour taught: $41.25$42.00 in 2015-2016; $42.50 in 20162017 and 2017-2018. Payment for necessary planning for courses and related meetings is already included in this hourly rate and will not be compensated separately.
Curriculum and research and/or instructional development projects: 1.

Hourly rate of $41.25$42.00 in 2015-2016; $42.50 in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018.
Teachers employed during the summer, except for twelve (12) month employees and for those performing work listed in A., B., or C. above, shall be paid at the hourly rate of $41.25$42.00 in 2015-2016; $42.50 in 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. Teachers shall be notified of such work by June 1 of each year. All summer positions shall be filled on a voluntary basis.

ARTICLE 25 SALARY A.

Effective July 1, 20142017, the teacher salary schedule shall be as formulated in Appendix 1.C. ARTICLE 28 INSTRUCTIONAL COUNCIL
A.
The general purpose of this Council shall be to explore ways to improve the educational program of the school district. Said Council shall confine its studies, activities, and recommendations to areas of district-wide concern and shall in no way, impinge upon the responsibility or autonomy of individual schools.
B.
Said Council shall consist of: 1.
One (1) teacher elected by each school staff, except that a school shall be entitled to one (1) representative for each group of twenty-five (25) teachers beyond the initial twenty-five (25), in accordance with the following schedule: No. Of Teachers in School 1 - 37 38 - 62 63 - 87 88 or more

A chairperson shall be elected by the Council. Said Council shall be directly responsible to the Superintendent of Schools, and shall submit, in writing, a minimum of two (2) semi-annual progress reports which describe the activities of the Council. These reports shall, in turn, be submitted to the Board of Education and members of the Association.

Money shall be included in the annual budget for operation expenses of the Council. ARTICLE 2928 HEALTH AND SAFETY COUNCIL ARTICLE 3029 ENROLLMENT PLAN
Full-time, tenured teachers who acquired tenure prior to July 1, 2014, shall be entitled to participate in the South Brunswick School District’s open enrollment policy through the end of the 2014-2015 school year. The teacher shall be required to pay 20% tuition. A schedule of payments shall be established by the Administration. The program shall no longer be available to new enrollees after June 30, 2015. Those children currently and consistently enrolled in the district on June 30, 2015, will be allowed to continue their education in South Brunswick at the 20% tuition rate. Full-time, tenured teachers who already have children enrolled in the school district as a result of the South Brunswick School District open enrollment policy will be permitted to enroll the siblings of the currently enrolled students after June 30, 2015, at 50% of the tuition rate. Children who were enrolled prior to June 30, 2015, will remain in the district at the 20% tuition rate. ARTICLE 3130 REPRESENTATION FEE ARTICLE 3231 WORK CONTINUITY CLAUSE ARTICLE 3332 FULLY-BARGAINED PROVISION ARTICLE 3433 DURATION OF AGREEMENT A.
This Agreement shall take effect July 1, 20122015 and shall continue in full force and effect through June 30, 20152018, subject to the Association's right to negotiate over a successor Agreement as provided in Article 2 of this Agreement. This Agreement shall not be extended orally and it is expressly understood that it shall expire on the date indicated, unless it is extended in writing.

APPENDIX 1 Salary increases: 2015-2016: 2.9% (inclusive of increment). 2016-2017: 2.9% (inclusive of increment). 2017-2018: 2.9% (inclusive of increment). Refer to salary guides in APPENDIX 1-A, APPENDIX 1-B, and APPENDIX 1-C. The Board will provide the Association with $75,000 in each year of the contract to be used off guide at the discretion of the Association. Longevity: No increase for the life of the Agreement. APPENDIX 3 - EXTRACURRICULAR SALARY GUIDES • • • •

Stipends will be increased by 2% in the first year with no further increases for the length of the contract. The Golf and Bowling coaches’ stipends will be made equal to other similar coaching positions. A stipend for High School Store Manager will be created and will be the same as the stipend for Middle School Store Manager. A stipend of $84.00 per required performance beyond the first performance will be paid to Music and Drama and other teachers who are assigned to more than one building and who are responsible for preparing multiple concerts, performance, or evening events. The stipend for nurses who participate in overnight trips will be $120 per day. (Noted in Appendix 4.)

In addition, if eligible, such teachers will be covered by the longevity provisions on the salary guide (prorated to the number of hours worked in the year). The parties agree that if the New Jersey Supreme Court rules, during the term of this Contract, that supplemental teachers must be placed on the salary guides negotiated for all other teachers under the 2012-2-15 Contract, such employees shall be placed on said guides retroactive to the first workday in the Contract year in which the Court issues its final decision.
