South Brunswick School District Goals & Objectives – Report of Progress 2010-2011 Tech Educators Status: COMPLETED Point Person: Joanne Kerekes ƒ Based on the lack of continuity (or in some cases, lack of existence) of viable technology in the K-1 classes, a uniform tech-infused project based on existing software such as Math Investigations was not possible. Instead, the decision was to design a K and a 1st grade model technology pilot and to deploy this in at least one classroom per school throughout the district. This work was done in December through March. Pilots are all up and running and supported by the tech educators at this time. No plans for full deployment until 2012-2013. Will adjust models based on input which is given weekly via a survey. ƒ Students in grades 2-5 all received direct instruction in a tech-infused project based on 21st century skills (e.g. 2nd grade podcast, 3rd grade PowerPoint, etc). ƒ All middle school students now take a sequence of technology courses based on 21st century skills. A pilot is in place at all three grade levels at this time. Feedback is collected weekly from each teacher involved in the pilot. Based on input, determination will be made regarding next steps and modifications. ƒ Elementary Teacher Stations are now installed in ALL 3-5 classrooms. ƒ Middle School stations are now installed in ALL classrooms. The math and science models include SmartBoards. The Library desktops have also been replaced. ƒ High School stations are now installed in nearly all classrooms.
