Primary School

Summary The Hounslow Muslim Community Centre (HMCC) has been successfully catering to the needs of its growing Muslim community for the last ten years.

In September 2011, HMCC opened , Tarbiyyah Primary School, which quickly achieved a “Good” rating from OFSTED Now, with the community expanding, HMCC and Tarbiyyah Primary School need larger facilities by May 2013; if we are unable to do this by this time, the children will not be able to stay in the school after year 2. To avoid the children having to find other schools and to accommodate the expanded needs of the School and Islamic Centre, we have determined that we need at least a 1000 sq. m building. We anticipate the cost of this to be approximately £1,500,000. Funds need to be collected from this early date in order to meet the May 2013 deadline. This proposal details how Muslims can take advantage of this opportunity to earn never-ending rewards (sadaqah jaariyah) by supporting this expansion.

A Muslim Community in Need of an Islamic School With the growth of the local Muslim population the demand for Islamic schools cannot be met as Islamic primary schools are currently filled for early years with waiting lists. Unfortunately, there are no viable alternatives for most Muslim parents:

Among the negative effects of sending children to non-Muslim schools are:

• Homeschooling is not practical for many Muslim households. • Non - Muslim primary schools instill many non-Islamic values such as: - Stories that glorify prohibited practices like magic and pre-marital relationships between opposite sexes - Music and dance - Free-mixing - Sex education (which includes the promotion of un-Islamic values).

• •

The loss of children’s Islamic identity Getting mixed up with gangs of juvenile delinquents, leading to crime and violence amongst Muslims which are at an unprecedented level.

The Only Alternative • •

The only practical alternative when faced with these negative outcomes is to set up Islamic schools, particularly at the primary level when our children are particularly impressionable. By doing so, we are setting our children up to become shining examples of our religion - capable of taking care of their religion and worldly affairs, presenting positive examples of Islam to the wider community in the UK.

Tarbiyyah Primary School History and Plan May 2013

September 2011 to Now Alhamdulillah we opened in September 2011 in the current HMCC building (a small semidetached house near Heathrow Airport) however this will only sustain us until May 2013. We made the decision to open with year 1 building and add an additional school grade each year which is a method adopted by many well established schools.

We have already received a “Good” Ofsted grade from our initial inspection which is a tremendous achievement that we hope to build upon in the future Insha’Allah.

Next steps before May 2013 In this period we will need to purchase a building that can accommodate the expected growth of our school. We expect the process of locating the right building and developing it to our requirements to take time so we require the funds now to make necessary arrangements. In order to make the school affordable for the average Muslim family we are looking to purchase a building outright. This will save us up to £60,000 per year allowing us to pass savings onto the parents of our school. For detailed financial information and projections, please refer to the Appendix B: Financial Projections. In the event that we are not able to raise funds to secure a 2000 sq m building in time, we will have to rent a smaller building that can accommodate the school until such funds for a building purchase become available.
