The portal is intuitive, innovative and automated. The Membership Directory allow for personalised access and wider member-to-member communication. News from members, articles and events information is updated daily; members are encouraged to contribute quality content in English (for foreign investors in Poland

and for exporters to Poland) and in Polish (for Polish firms seeking to enter the UK market). To interact with the BPCC and its members wherever you are, you can use features such as our social media tools and mobile application. Members can edit their own entry in the Membership Directory, upload their special offers for other members and have full access to exclusive business content available only to members.

There’s useful information about doing business; you’re kept up to date with BPCC events and recommended services. The magazine, which appears five times a year, also provides members with news coverage, chamber updates, professional advice and opinions from recognised experts and practitioners. There are also reports of BPCC meetings with ministers and senior government officials, articles from top experts on the Polish economy, as well as fresh information about new business opportunities. Contact Online is a unique and effective advertising vehicle for reaching senior decision-makers across Poland and the UK.

BPCC Policy Groups Creating a better business environment Corporate Social Responsibility Policy Group promotes best practice in corporate behaviour and how firms interacts with the social and natural environments. Sustainability – building businesses to last rather than ones focused on short-term results – is an important part of the group’s philosophy. It offers learning opportunities for BPCC members, and serves as a platform for voicing ideas to government.

Public Private Partnerships (PPP) Policy Group engages with government, parliament and local authorities to discuss private sector delivery of public infrastructure. The UK’s experience offers lessons from which Poland can learn.

Energy & Environment Policy Group discusses the technologies that will enable businesses to contribute profitably to the sustainable power generation as well as environmental protection. Shale gas, nuclear and renewables, including waste-to-energy are also discussed. Representatives of government, regulators and local authorities take part.

Public Procurement Policy Group is for managers from firms bidding for public-sector tenders, and for lawyers and consultants specialising in this area. It is a forum to discuss issues encountered with bidding for public tenders in Poland and to suggest improvements. Regulators, policy-makers and legislators attend the meetings, at which UK best practice in professionalising procurement is promoted.

Food Policy Group brings together producers and retailers and service providers to the sector – marketing, certification and logistics. The group meets with government officials and regulators; representatives of Poland’s food producers’ and retailers’ organisations. Healthcare Policy Group is a forum for the exchange of best practice between the UK and Poland, and between BPCC members and the Polish public sector. The group discusses clinical trials, personalised medicine, coordinated care, healthy ageing and private healthcare with decision-makers, experts and managers from public and private sectors. Innovative, effective healthcare is the policy goal. Human Resources Policy Group promotes active employ-ment policies and standards, drawing on UK and international best practice. Meetings often include representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, labour offices, regulators and other officials; it’s a platform for dialogue between BPCC members and the public sector. The group also focuses on vocational education, soft-skills coaching, leadership and assessment. Manufacturing Industries Policy Group is a platform for sharing best practice and discussing issues common to all manufacturers, such as energy costs, environmental protection, supply chain and skills. Meetings take place in members’ factories.

Real Estate & Construction Policy Group brings together members with an interest in property – developers, architects, contractors, facilities managers and agents. Meetings focus on issues such planning permissions, contract enforcement and investor protection and the regulatory environment for the sector. Sustainable investment, including green building, is also covered. The group promotes Building Information Modelling (BIM) across Poland. Tax and Finance Reform Policy Group focuses on deregulation, taxes, excise duty and social security. The aim is to help improve the tax system, targeting barriers to investment, business growth and employment. Making tax payments simpler and improving the business environment in Poland are priorities. Finance ministry representatives are invited to the meetings. Telecoms, Media and Technology Policy Group addresses regulatory issues affecting firms across these sectors – intellectual property, cloud computing, e-marketing, European Single Digital Market, data protection and future trends. Transport Infrastructure & Logistics Policy Group looks at the infrastructure sector, and road, rail, sea and air transport. At regular meetings with representatives of government agencies and ministries, the group presses for improved transport links and promotes Poland as a location for logistics operations.

B

PCC Trade contributes to UK Government’s 'Exporting is GREAT' programme by promoting 'Export Opportunities' from Poland. We contact Polish distributors directly to identify demand for British products and services in Poland and post the trade opportunity on the new 'Exporting is GREAT' website. It is a quick and efficient way of connecting businesses from both countries. Companies we’ve helped LG Harris & Co Ltd. is a leading British manufacturer of a wide range of paintbrushes and decorating tools famous for their quality, innovation and design, coupled with great value prices. BPCC Trade worked with Harris to find the best route to market strategy, and helped open doors to the right buyers in the market.

Lamb consumption in Poland is currently extremely low, so the product is marketed as niche and premium. This is where the BPCC’s team has spotted a gap in the market and begun its cooperation with the Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board (AHDB).

Testimonials on BPCC Trade can be found on the chamber’s YouTube channel.

Opportunities for Members Part of BPCC Trade’s success has been its position within the chamber’s strong business-to-business network.
