Phoenix Area Tour An aerial tour of the Valley of the Sun.

T

he Valley of the Sun is home to millions of people in communities spread across the desert terrain. From the air, it’s a sea of buildings, roads, and parks with winding canals, rocky desert mountains, and lush golf courses. There’s no better way to see it all than from the seat of a helicopter flying above the crowds and traffic.

Flying M Air’s Phoenix Area Tour takes you around the entire Phoenix area. You’ll see familiar sights — freeways, malls, buildings, roads, airports, canals, schools, mountains, and more — in a way you’ve never seen them before. Things that look big on the ground will look small; distances that are long when driving will be short. You’ll see things you never knew existed — even if you’ve lived in Phoenix your entire life.

Highlights:

This tour, which is available during the day or on clear nights, makes a complete loop around the Phoenix area, including Deer Valley, Peoria, Sun City, Glendale, downtown Phoenix, and Scottsdale. Daytime flights also include views of Lake Pleasant.

Explore Desert Rivers Two different tours in the Phoenix area.

J

oin us for an exciting flight up one of the Phoenix area’s two rivers: the Salt and the Verde. Your flight originates at Phoenix Deer Valley, Scottsdale, or Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport and flies directly to the confluence of the Salt and Verde Rivers. Along the way, we might see the 560-foot fountain at Fountain Hills shooting water into the sky.

Salt River Lakes & Canyons Tour From the confluence, we’ll follow the course of the Salt River eastbound as it snakes its way far below us through narrow river-carved canyons. One by one, we’ll pass by the dams along the river and the lakes they form: Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, and Apache Lake. If it’s spring, the hillsides beneath us may be covered with a blanket of wildflowers. At the top end of Apache Lake, we’ll reverse course and return back down the river to the Phoenix area and your starting airport.

Verde River Tour

Highlights: v 50-70 minutes of flight time

v Incredible views of the Sonoran desert from the air

v Optional add-ons available

From the confluence, we’ll follow the course of the Verde River as it winds northward through the McDowell Indian Reservation. We’ll see the communities that have sprung up along the river and may even see a few kayakers as they head downstream. We’ll fly near the Bartlett Dam, and then fly around the shoreline of Bartlett Lake. You’ll see boaters and fishermen below you, enjoying the recreational opportunities the lake has to offer. From the dam, we’ll head west for a return flight to the starting airport via a different route.

Per Flight Pricing:

Henry Wickenburg’s Legacy Day Trip A flight back in time to a place where time stands still.

H

enry Wickenburg, an Austrian immigrant, came to Arizona in the mid 1800s, looking for gold. He found it at the presentday site of Vulture Mine. The town that bears his name, Wickenburg, AZ, was founded in 1863 to support the area’s gold mining activities. Situated along the banks of the Hassayampa River, approximately 50 miles northwest of central Phoenix, the town has a rich western heritage that is still evident today. Start your day trip to Wickenburg at Phoenix Deer Valley or Scottsdale Airport. You’ll take a 30- to 40-minute flight across the outskirts of Phoenix to the Hassayampa River. As you follow the river upstream, learn about its underground flow and catch glimpses of where its waters rise to the surface.

After a brief circuit of the town, land at Wickenburg Airport. Your pilot will provide ground transportation to Wickenburg’s historic Vulture City ghost town. Take up to 2 hours for a selfguided tour of the structures and artifacts. From there, its a short drive to downtown Wickenburg. Visit the excellent Desert Caballeros Western

Museum, where you can take your time among the history, geology, and art exhibits. You’ll have up to 2 hours on your own in town, so take some time for lunch, a self-guided walking tour, and shopping in gift shops and galleries.
