1. The Local Air Transportation System

Air freight accounts for a less than 1% of total freight carried in terms of both volume and weight. However, air freight accounts for about 40% of its value The key value added by air transport is time, the quick delivery of key items

5

2. Air Transportation Traffic & Capacity 

MBJ‘s current annual passenger traffic is 3.8 million. Built capacity can accommodate 9 million passengers. NMIA, current annual passenger traffic is 1.5 million and built capacity: 4.5 million passengers

Air Cargo KIN

Cargo throughput 2015/16:  Total: 18.92m Kgs  NMIA: 12.63m Kgs  SIA: 6.29m Kgs

Note cargo volumes for NMIA in 1996 totalled 31.42m Kgs

MBJ

3. Air Cargo Growth Prospects & Initiatives NMIA  Current cargo space all committed. Additional warehouse space needed - BOOT investor  East Airfield Development practically completed, providing expanded apron and parking arrangements for Cargo  Runway Extension & RESA  New airlift capacity needed from NMIA into Europe and South/Central America

SIA  Air Service mix (including charters) – At present less than 50 of the airlines handles cargo.  Business strategy to support cargo development.  Runway Extension & RESA  Expansion of Cargo facilities at SIA to be considered. 8
