Great Reasons to work at New College Join an Outstanding Team New College Pontefract and New College Doncaster are sister colleges in a multi-academy trust (New Collaborative Learning Trust), with a third college (New College Bradford) due to open in September 2018. The trust is run by the same dynamic and driven team that led New College Pontefract to achieve Ofsted ‘outstanding’ in 2013/14. Success rates at New College Pontefract place us 3rd in the Sixth Form College league tables and highest in the north of England. Our A Level and BTEC value added places us in the top 10% of all providers nationally. With a shared vision, mission and moral purpose across all three colleges, it is this success we intend to replicate to improve outcomes and life chances for learners in each local area and we need to recruit talented staff to help us achieve that!

Wider Opportunities and Career Progression The College is outward-facing and believes strongly in collaboration. We are the lead strategic partner of our teaching school, which is an exciting new project involving collaboration with over 30 schools and colleges from primary level right through to higher education institutions. The teaching school creates opportunities for staff to access a range of CPD events, to deliver CPD events, to get involved in supporting colleagues and departments in

other schools and colleges, and to contribute to the development of initial teacher training. Alongside the work of our teaching school, the formation and growth of the trust will be a great vehicle for developing talented teachers and leaders, and will create many new opportunities for staff. The college has an enviable reputation for career progression and internal promotion over the last few years and our planned timetable model will be configured to create possibilities of multi-site working for those interested. We hope to be able to offer both longer term career progression, as well as short term secondments to be able to suit the needs of a range of staff to help us engage and retain the most talented team of people.

Excellent Recognition and Reward Package We strongly believe in rewarding outstanding performance and we have attractive reward systems in place for all staff which includes: • a bonus scheme linked to our appraisal process for individual/team performance • a reward day in lieu for outstanding whole college performance • length of service awards to thank staff for their loyalty and commitment as well as other ways to recognise and thank those staff going above and beyond.

Supportive and Challenging Environment We are unapologetic in being driven to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students. However, we aim to give every individual member of the team whatever help and support they need to flourish as an outstanding member of staff. We offer an in-depth induction programme for new staff which includes training and support through our existing sixth form college. We offer lots of CPD in house through our teaching and learning experts and also via the teaching school. We also have a CPD budget that staff can apply to access for externally provided CPD.

A Great Place to Work The quality of our staff and the warm friendly relationship that exists throughout the College make it an exciting and enjoyable place to work and learn. We offer lots of varied staff benefits from Computershare vouchers, staff reward scheme, attractive pension schemes, free on staff parking, health care plans etc. There is always plenty going on in the College, whether it be our Wellbeing Day, Christmas party or end of year celebrations, coffee mornings or social gathering. New College is a vibrant and friendly place to work.

What is it like working at New College? Ruth Inkley Working at New College is very different to a school given the age and maturity of the students which allows teachers to take a few lieu days they have accrued which is a lovely reward and gives teachers some great flexibility. The Senior Management are very family friendly and have encouraged me to attend my own children’s sports days or special school assemblies and as a part-time teacher I am very pleased to have sensible full working days and feel as valued as full-time members of staff. Karen Petrie In my challenging role of MIS Manager (Management Information Systems) I have had the pleasure to work with an extremely talented, friendly and supportive group of people who share a genuine commitment to helping students and fellow staff succeed. I have spent the last 23 years working in a couple of departments and feel privileged to have been part of the progression from a small college of less than 500 students to an outstanding institution with over 2000 highly successful learners. James Morris During my time at New College Pontefract I have had the opportunities to gain management experience and participate in CPD training to enhance my professional skills even further. I have frequently had the support and guidance of other members of staff and the environment here is one of collaboration, creativity and innovation

Lucy Clewarth The staff of New College are friendly and very helpful when adapting to the workplace. I began as an apprentice alongside the Learning Resource Centre Team, and the support that I received was excellent. New College is a great provider of opportunities for progression within your department or the College as a whole. Richard Joyner Working alongside the site team at New College has been a rewarding experience so far. I worked previously on building sites so working at New College has been completely different for me. The jobs day to day are varied and I liaise daily with external clients as well as staff and students. The shift work I do really suits me and the support you receive by the team is excellent. Donna Simpson After a week at New College Pontefract, no longer did I feel like a new member of staff. The staff induction programme put in place helped me to become an ‘oldie’ in a very short time. A place run by mavericks willing to push boundaries and face head on the challenges of educational change. A place of dynamism for the dynamic. A great place to work and grow. Vicky Marks The students at New College are the best part of my job. The vast majority are hard-working, friendly and so appreciative of the work that I do…they will try anything. There is a strong ethos of hard work and sharing of good practice among the staff.
