SEASON OUTLOOK

The Hawk Will Never Die!

The Saint Joseph’s men’s soccer team will field one of its deepest squads in years in 2006, which should prove to be a key factor in helping the Hawks get back on the winning track. SJU has an experienced group, and returns 10 starters from last season. More importantly, all 10 players who scored points in 2005 are back for the Hawks. “Our depth will be a pleasant problem to have this season. It will increase the level of competition with more players challenging for playing time,” said SJU coach Tom Turner, who is now in his 20th season and closing in on the school record for victories, needing nine to reach the mark. “Our ultimate goal will be to get back in the running for a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Topping the list of returning players is last year’s leading scorer Michael McInaw. McInaw had a stellar rookie season, being the lone Hawk to earn Philadelphia Soccer Seven All-Star honors. He tallied a team-best six goals on the year and SJU will be looking for him to duplicate or even increase those efforts in 2006. Chris Powell, an assistant captain, will be another scoring threat for the Hawks. He sat out 2005, but was SJU’s top scorer during 2004 with three goals. The Hawks are also looking for big things from junior midfielder Patrick Duddy, who stood out in the preseason training. Although Duddy went without a goal last year, he had two assists, and possesses the potential to be one of the team’s top scorers and playmakers. Craig Olsen, Tom Johnson and Andrew Tursi, who had four assists last season, will all contribute. The defense looks to be the Hawks’ strength with a core group of veterans leading the way. The backfield will be anchored by co-captain John Creed, Jim Slover, co-captain Joe Grayauskie

Andrew Takats and assistant captain Dean Niedosik. Creed is making a comeback from an ACL injury which sidelined him for all but one game. Slover missed some time during 2006 with an injury but was still the team’s second leading scorer with five points. Sophomore Joe Bodnar spent a year on the Hawks’ developmental squad, but will compete for the starting goalkeeper’s job with 6-3 sophomore Bryan Benedict. Junior Mike McBride adds depth to that spot. SJU will welcome back redshirt junior Andrew Takats, who missed the entire 2005 season after suffering a severe fracture in his leg in the middle of the 2004 season. After surgery and an extensive rehabilitation, Takats’ effectiveness remains to be seen, but his return will still be a boost to the Hawks. Three scholastic standouts top the list of SJU newcomers. Jason Lewis was an All-State selection at Palmyra (NJ) High School, and set the school record with 77 career goals. Matteo Chiappini, an All-Area honoree from Great Valley High School, can help the Hawks in the midfield or attack. Travis Gast is a talented defender from Upper Dublin High School who could make an immediate impact. Aside from a nine-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule, the Hawks will face local rivals Villanova, La Salle, Temple and Philadelphia University in Philadelphia Soccer Seven play. The Hawks also have the advantage of two early home games as last season, Saint Joseph’s did not play its first home match until October 22. In non-conference action, SJU will take on UMBC, Navy, Penn, Mt. St. Mary’s and Princeton.

Tom Turner enters his 20th year as Saint Joseph’s head men’s soccer coach in 2006. Now one of the longest tenured coaches at the University, Turner continues to lend a great deal of experience to the Hawk program while he closes in on the school mark for victories. Entering 2006, Turner needs just nine wins to surpass the school record of 120 career victories set by Jack Dunn from 1958 to 1975. In his 19 seasons thus far, he owns a 112-219-23 mark. A rash of key injuries have plagued the Hawks in the past few years, but with the return of a number of talented veterans and a group of skilled young players in the fold, Turner will look to return Saint Joseph’s to the Atlantic 10 Tournament in 2006. Turner took over the Saint Joseph’s soccer program in 1987, and his rebuilding plan led the Hawks to back-to-back double-digit win seasons in 1993 and 1994. That success was reminiscent of his playing days in the early 1970’s, when the Hawks made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In 1993, Turner guided the Hawks to a school-record 12 wins and a first-ever Soccer Seven title and Atlantic 10 Tournament appearance. For his efforts, he was named the Coach of the Year in both the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Philadelphia Soccer Seven. He followed that with a 10-7-2 record in 1994, marking the first consecutive double-digit win campaigns in the program’s history. The Hawks advanced to the Atlantic 10 Tournament, falling to NCAA semifinalist Rutgers. After a span of six seasons in which the team totaled 23 wins, Turner got the Hawks back on track with 26 victories in the next three seasons. That stretch included a 10-7-2 record in 2001, in which he earned his second Soccer Seven Coach of the Year Award. A former defensive standout at Saint Joseph’s (1970 to 1973), he played on the school's 1971 and 1972 NCAA teams. Turner took over the reins of the Hawk soccer program after a 10-year coaching stint at La Salle College High School (1977 to 1986), where he compiled a record of 100-88-21. During that period, he also coached the Montgomery County All-Stars in Pennsylvania's Keystone Games scholastic competition while continuing his playing career in the Major Division of Philadelphia's United Soccer League. Turner has worked at La Salle College High School since 1981, and currently serves as the assistant dean of students and director of transportation, while also teaching social studies. Turner resides in Churchville, PA with his wife, Michelle, and their daughters, Brigid, a 2005 graduate of Saint Joseph’s, and Mary Catherine.

ASSISTANT COACHES Ken Clark Assistant Coach Temple ‘97 - Ninth Year Now in his ninth-year on the Saint Joseph’s men’s soccer coaching staff is Ken Clark. A native of Philadelphia, Clark is well known in the area soccer community after playing four years at Temple University (‘97) and prepping at La Salle College High School (‘93). Clark capped a stellar career in goal for the Owls as a senior during the 1996 season. That year he led the Mid-Atlantic region in saves (155), setting a new single season school record, and minutes played (1,798). He also posted a stingy 1.60 goals against average and was twice named Philadelphia Soccer Seven Player of the Week and also the Soccer America National Goalkeeper of the Week (9/29/96). He missed just 13 minutes of play during the year, helping Temple to a 10-win campaign. The Owls were nationallyranked twice during the year (#19 and #25). A scholar, as well as an athlete, Clark was recognized as a Third Team Academic All-American. The 32-year-old earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Temple. He resides in Philadelphia with his wife, Bridget.

Hugh McInaw Assistant Coach Philadelphia ‘72 - Third year Among the most respected names in Philadelphia-area soccer for over 30 years, Hugh McInaw returns for his second stint as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph’s University. He previously served on Tom Turner’s staff at SJU during the 1994 season. McInaw got his start in coaching as an assistant on Turner’s staff at La Salle College High School from 1978-79. In 1980 he was named the head coach at Cardinal Dougherty High School. He compiled an 85-74-17 record in 14 seasons at Dougherty, leading the team to a pair of Catholic League crowns. He spent the 1994 season as an assistant at Saint Joseph’s before being appointed the head soccer coach at Temple University. He spent five seasons (1995-99) in North Philadelphia, capturing Philadelphia Soccer 7 Coach of the Year honors in 1997 after guiding the Owls to a 10-7-2 record and a City Series title. A 1972 graduate of Philadelphia Textile, McInaw was the Rams leading scorer as a junior, helping the team become the nation’s topranked soccer program for most of the year (1970). Prior to Textile, he was a prep standout at North Catholic High School leading the team to three straight League titles. McInaw resides in Upper Dublin, PA with his wife Jean. He has two children; the youngest, Michael, is a sophomore on the Hawk squad.

The Hawk Will Never Die!

Administrative Assistant Saint Joseph’s ‘69 - Eighth year Working behind the scenes for the eighth straight year as the administrative assistant of the men’s soccer team is SJU Hall of Famer Jack Ruggero. One of only three men to coach the SJU men's soccer program in its 48-year varsity existence, Ruggero guided the Hawks to 53 wins over an 11-year stint from 1976 through 1986. A standout defensive back, the 1969 SJU grad earned regional All-America honors as a junior and senior (1967-68). In November of 1999, he was the only men's soccer player and one of 20 inducted into the inaugural class of the Saint Joseph's Athletic Hall of Fame. Ruggero previously served as an assistant coach under Jack Dunn before taking over the program in 1976. As an assistant, he helped guide the team to two NCAA Tournament appearances, and coached current SJU mentor Tom Turner during that time. He resides with his wife, Joyce, in Philadelphia.

FINNESEY FIELD Laid out in a natural bowl in the center of Saint Joseph’s campus, Finnesey Field has been the home of Hawk men’s soccer since its inception in 1958. Originally constructed for football and opened in 1929 with plans for an eventual 70,000-seat stadium, the field has undergone numerous changes over the years. In 1960, both the original grandstand and hillside seating were eliminated for the construction of Villiger (now Post) Hall/Bluett Theater. That construction necessitated raising the field’s level some five feet above its earlier location. In 1990 the facility’s usage was greatly expanded with the installation of artificial turf. That expansion continued in 1994 when lights were added. During the summer of 2001, the field received a facelift when new turf was installed. Bleachers were built into the hill closest to Barbelin Hall during the summer of 2003. In addition to the men’s soccer team, Finnesey Field is currently the home of SJU track and field, field hockey, women’s soccer and both men’s and women’s lacrosse. Previously, it played host to the football, baseball and softball teams. SJU’s men’s soccer team has compiled a record of 154-145-30 on the field since 1958 The team played its first Finnesey Field game on October 24, 1958, defeating Rutgers-South Jersey, 6-0. In the first-ever night time event on the field, the Hawks topped Lehigh, 3-0, on October 19, 1994. Legend has it that a 1777 Revolutionary War skirmish took place on the site. Several war-era relics, in fact, were discovered during landscaping work in 1939.

Saint Joseph’s Hawk mascot has been flapTHE HAWK ping The its wings for half a century, celebrating its golden anniversary in 2005-06. One of the most famous mascots in college sports, the Hawk is best known for staying in constant motion by flapping its wings throughout every basketball game and representing the Saint Joseph’s motto, “The Hawk Will Never Die”. Saint Joseph’s athletic teams have been recognized with the nickname “Hawks” since 1929. At that time, the school’s yearbook editor initiated a contest among the student body for a symbol. More than 100 submissions were narrowed, with “Hawks” winning out over “Grenadiers” by a slim margin. The name was appropriate because it typified “the fighting spirit of our crimson and gray athletes and it is suggestive of the aerial attack which has made our football team famous.” Football, ironically, was discontinued at SJU following the 1939 season. The Hawk mascot has garnered numerous accolades in its 50-year history. It has been selected as the nation’s top mascot by The Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, Sports Illustrated for Kids, Street & Smith’s Basketball Yearbook and ESPN College Basketball magazine.

2005 YEAR IN REVIEW Question marks surrounded the Saint Joseph’s men’s soccer team entering the 2005 campaign. With freshmen and sophomores making up nearly 75 percent of the roster, the Hawks went into the season searching for an identity. Coach Tom Turner was forced to throw many of these inexperienced players right into the mix, and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Despite finishing the season 2-14-1 and 0-9-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, the Hawks made great strides during the season, with many of the younger players gaining valuable experience along the way. Goalkeeper Rob Lavorerio, one of only four seniors on the team, provided leadership for the Hawks. After making only one appearance in 2004, Lavorerio came off the bench and played well the opening game loss to William and Mary. Prior to the second game of the season against Binghamton he was awarded the start in goal, a spot he would not relinquish. He finished sixth among Atlantic 10 goalkeepers with 72 saves, and earned his first career shutout in a victory over Philadelphia University. Underclassmen sparked the Hawk offense, as eight out of 13 goals were scored by freshmen. Six of those goals came courtesy of Michael McInaw. The standout forward netted his first two collegiate goals in a 3-2 win over Adelphi, and was named the Soccer Seven Player of the Week the following week. He accounted for two of three Hawk goals against Philadelphia University, scoring one and assisting on another. McInaw’s stellar freshman year did not go unnoticed, as he was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player and was named to the Soccer Seven All- Star team. Fellow freshmen Nick Pozzessere and Andrew Tursi also made contributions on offense. Pozzessere started every game at midfield and scored his first career goal against Philadelphia University. Tursi, another regular in the starting lineup led the team in assists with four. Midfielder Tom Johnson also had a fine rookie campaign,

recording one goal and starting 10 of 16 games. Sophomores Alex Koufacos and Jim Slover finished among the team leaders on offense. Koufacos scored his first career goal while recording two assists on the year. Slover finished second on the team in goals scored with two, despite only playing in 13 games. Cliff Jones picked up where he left off freshman year, putting together a solid sophomore campaign. Junior captain Joe Grayauskie played tough defense throughout the year. The Hawks opened the season by playing their first 12 games on the road, including two against nationally ranked opponents. After a hard- fought loss to Long Island University in the opening game of the Courtyard by Marriott Soccer Classic in Brooklyn, the Hawks picked up their first win of the season in the tournament’s second game versus Adelphi. The squad picked up their second victory of the season against city rival Philadelphia University. Koufacos netted the game-winner, as well as recording an assist. The Hawks finally played their first home game on October 22nd, nearly two months into the season. Johnson scored on an assist from Tursi late in the game to bring the Hawks within a goal, but got no closer. The season ended with a slim 1-0 defeat at the hands of Xavier. Things may not have gone the way the Hawks had hoped, but the steady improvement over the course of the year has raised expectations for the coming season. After taking their lumps in 2005, the Hawks are returning a more experienced, confident club who will look to make a run at the A-10 tournament.

2006 Men’s Soccer

Duquesne won its first-ever men’s title and La Salle won its fourth women’s crown in the last five years. In field hockey, Richmond ended the season ranked 19th nationally after going unbeaten in Conference play for the third straight year in advancing to the NCAAs. The men’s golf season was the most successful in Atlantic 10 history as league champion Charlotte was joined by George Washington, Rhode Island, Richmond, and Xavier in the NCAA Tournament, marking the first time ever that five A-10 schools earned postseason bids. Charlotte, which won the title in its first season as a member of the A-10, reached the national finals for the first time in school history. Richmond won its first-ever women’s lacrosse regular season title and its second tournament title in advancing to the NCAA Tournament. In addition to Richmond, St. Bonaventure earned a national ranking in 2006, the first-ever in school history. The Massachusetts women’s rowing team won its 11th straight A-10 title, building upon its league record for the most consecutive tournament championships won by any team in any sport. Rhode Island won the A-10 Men’s Soccer Championship, while Saint Louis won the women’s regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In softball, UMass won its 18th league championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Super Regional round. St. Bonaventure won its first A-10 men’s swimming & diving crown since 1999 and the Richmond women claimed their fifth straight title. Richmond captured its third straight men’s and women’s tennis championships and the accompanying NCAA automatic berths. Charlotte took the men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field titles. In volleyball, Dayton won its third straight Conference crown to earn the league’s automatic NCAA bid. In all, 392 teams have represented the Atlantic 10 Conference in postseason play since the 1976-77 season.

On March 2, 1975, the idea of what is now the Atlantic 10 Conference was conceived. What started as an eight-school, men’s basketball-only affiliation has grown into a 14-university, 21-sport league that is universally hailed as one of the best conferences in the country. That growth and prominence is a direct result of the ideals and commitments of the member institutions of the Atlantic 10 - the University of Dayton, Duquesne University, Fordham University, The George Washington University, La Salle University, University of Massachusetts, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of Rhode Island, University of Richmond, St. Bonaventure University, Saint Joseph's University, Saint Louis University, Temple University, and Xavier University. The Atlantic 10 Conference, with a total population of nearly 73 million people within its geographic footprint of eight states and the District of Columbia, will crown champions in 21 sports this season: baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's golf, women’s lacrosse, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, women's rowing, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, and women's volleyball. Xavier became the first team in NCAA history to win four games in four days at its league’s men’s basketball tournament twice when it won the 2006 A-10 title (previously done in 2004). The Musketeers earned the Atlantic 10's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and were joined by George Washington, which became just the fourth team in league history to go unbeaten in Conference play. The Colonials, who at one time had the nation’s longest winning streak (18 games), were ranked as high as sixth in the national polls. In addition, Charlotte, Saint Joseph’s, and Temple earned NIT bids. In women’s basketball, Temple won its third-straight A-10 title and was joined by George Washington in the NCAA Tournament. Charlotte, Saint Joseph’s, and Xavier garnered WNIT bids. Saint Louis won the A-10 baseball championship and earned its first NCAA berth since 1966. In cross country,

The Hawk Will Never Die!

Legendary Jack Dunn, the first-ever coach of the Saint Joseph’s soccer team, has done more for the Hawk program than any one individual. The team’s head coach from 1958 through 1975, Dunn compiled a career record of 120-57-23 (.658) in his 18 years at the helm, leading SJU to the NCAA Tournament in 1966, 1971 and 1972. The 72-year-old Dunn played on the 1952 U.S. Olympic team and went on to a long playing career in the old German-American Professional League. Dunn, who also served as an assistant coach with the Hawks in the mid-90s, was one of 20 inaugural inductees to the Saint Joseph’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.

Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., is beginning his fourth year as president of Saint Joseph's University. Fr. Lannon began his term as Saint Joseph's 26th president in July 2003. Since then he has led many significant University initiatives, most notably the agreement to purchase the 38-acre campus of the neighboring Episcopal Academy. Saint Joseph's anticipates taking possession of the property in 2008; the acquisition -- to be known as the Maguire Campus -- will provide unparalleled flexibility to enhance academic programs and facilities. Under Fr. Lannon's stewardship, the University vastly upgraded student housing and parking options with the opening of the City Avenue Residence Halls in August 2004. Phase II of that initiative is currently underway and will result in additional parking and retail development along 54th Street. Fr. Lannon has also played a major role in boosting Saint Joseph's academic profile, an effort which includes recently endowed faculty chairs and student scholarships as well as the opening of the Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics. A major curricular-review initiative and the hiring of more than 50 new full-time faculty over a five-year period will serve to further strengthen the University's academic position. SJU has already equaled its best-ever U.S. News ranking (t-9th, Northeast) in the 2007 "America's Best Colleges" edition. Fr. Lannon has worked tirelessly to re-engage the University in its mission and to foster expanded outreach efforts to alumni, governmental leaders, and other external constituencies. In the latter role, he serves as chair of the City Avenue Special Services District (CASSD). As a central tenet of his leadership, Fr. Lannon's has articulated a vision for Saint Joseph's to be recognized as the preeminent Catholic comprehensive university in the Northeast. He previously was vice president for university advancement and associate executive vice president at Marquette University, and served presidential internships at the College of the Holy Cross and Boston College while completing a doctorate and teaching fellowship in the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University. Fr. Lannon serves on the boards of Marquette University, St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. Fr. Lannon has studied and written on Catholic identity at Jesuit universities. A native of Mason City, Iowa, he attended Creighton University as an undergraduate and was later president of Creighton Preparatory School. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1977 and was ordained in 1986.

Don DiJulia Associate Vice President Athletic Director One of the most active and involved leaders in collegiate athletics, Don DiJulia is in his fifth decade of affiliation with Saint Joseph’s University. The 61year old DiJulia is in his second stint as the University’s top athletic administrator after returning to Hawk Hill as an Assistant Vice President/Athletic Director on June 8, 1988. Over the past 17 years, DiJulia has overseen tremendous growth in the University’s athletics programs. During his tenure, five varsity programs have been added, a new weight training facility built, athletic facilities upgraded and athletic fund drives initiated. In addition, the importance of the student-athlete has been recognized with the institution of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll as well as the senior scholar-athlete awards. DiJulia also spearheaded SJU’s hosting of various conference and national tournaments, including the 2000 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four. A 1968 graduate, DiJulia has worn many hats in college athletics during his more than 30 years of professional experience. His career first started in coaching, where he served as an assistant basketball coach at Fairfield, George Washington and American. During his first stint as Director of Athletics at SJU from 1976-1981, DiJulia was instrumental in the planning and construction of the $5 million athletic and recreation complex. He also oversaw the growth of women’s athletics as softball and cross country were added as varsity sports. DiJulia left SJU in 1981 to become Commissioner of the East Coast Conference, a position he held for two years until leaving to become the Commissioner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (1984 through 1988). A two-sport athlete as an undergraduate at SJU, DiJulia was a member of the 1964-65 Hawk basketball team which compiled a 26-1 regular season record and a top 10 national ranking under head coach Dr. Jack Ramsay. He and his wife, Pat, are the parents of seven children and reside in Havertown, PA.

Great strides have been made over the past decade to enhance the overall aspect of student life at Saint Joseph’s University and at the heart of this growth and development is Vice President for Student Life and Academic Development Dr. Linda Lelii. In her 13th year in this capacity, Dr. Lelii is responsible for Residence Life, Career Services, Counseling and Personal Development, Student Activities, Student Health, Academic Development, Advising to Students with Disabilities, Multicultural Life, Freshmen Orientation, and Athletics and Recreation. Dr. Lelii came to Hawk Hill in 1987, when she accepted the position as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. In 1991, she was promoted to Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Lelii received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and her master’s degree in psychology at Southern Methodist University in 1971.

THE UNIVERSITY Founded in 1851, Saint Joseph’s is an independent, Catholic, Jesuit university teaching disciplined reasoning, effective communication and a love of learning. From Willings Alley in Old City Philadelphia to Stiles Street in North Philadelphia to its current location on City Avenue, Saint Joseph’s has continued to grow and change with the times. The University combines the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence, a history of service and an ideal campus location to produce successful students who seek to make a good world even better. Full-time, undergraduate day enrollment is approximately 4,250. Graduate, evening and executive programs push total enrollment to more than 7,400.

THE JESUIT TRADITION OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE Saint Joseph’s nationally recognized academic reputation is confirmed by ongoing acknowledgment in Barron’s, U.S. News & World Report and Peterson’s. The Jesuit tradition of intellectual inquiry and personal concern manifests itself in small, challenging classes taught by a caring faculty. Graduate assistants do not teach, so undergraduates can be sure they are receiving the very best educational experience. One-on-one interaction between students and faculty is a reality at Saint Joseph’s. A solid liberal arts curriculum provides across-the-board learning for every student. Mandeville Hall, which houses the Erivan K. Haub School of Business, the Center for Food Marketing and the region's first "Teletorium" and "Moot Boardrooms." An 87,000-square-foot international academic center featuring state-ofthe-art distance learning technology, it is located near the corner of 54th Street and City Avenue. A HISTORY OF SERVICE The students of Saint Joseph’s University are dedicated to making today’s world even better. A natural spirit of volunteerism has enabled the University’s community service programs to become the most popular extracurricular activities on campus. In addition, a Service Learning program allows students to receive academic credit for their work outside the classroom. The Thanksgiving Dinner Dance for area senior citizens and the Hand-inHand Festival for the handicapped are two annual student-run events which draw thousands of special visitors to campus for fun and friendship. IDEAL CAMPUS LOCATION SJU’s City Avenue location combines the best of dynamic Philadelphia with the suburban, residential setting of the elegant Main Line. Saint Joseph’s 65 acres span two counties, allowing students literally to enjoy the best of both worlds. The city of Philadelphia, with its tremendous wealth of historical, cultural, social and athletic attractions, is easily accessible, while the safety, serenity and greenery of a suburban campus are right at hand. The friendly atmosphere and close-knit campus ensure that students don’t get lost in either the literal or the figurative sense at Saint Joseph’s. Expanded library, computer and athletic facilities add a big-time “feel” to this growing university.

PHILADELPHIA SJU’s Philadelphia location gives students access to two worlds. The campus resembles a park, surrounded by the stately homes of Philadelphia’s historic Main Line suburbs. Yet students have access to the cultural, commercial and recreational activities of downtown Philadelphia only a short ride away. SJU students take frequent advantage of the artistic and cultural resources Philadelphia offers, as well. They visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; the Franklin Institute Science Museum; the Academy of Music, which houses ballet and opera; and the new Kimmel Center, home to the Philadelphia Orchestra. In addition, SJU students know they always have a good time rooting for Philadelphia or other hometown teams in the four major professional sports.

SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS Men and women leave Saint Joseph’s prepared. The University boasts an excellent record of placing its graduates in first-time jobs, professional schools and other advanced degree programs. Part-time work and internships provide real-world experiences, the kind which delight future employers.
