ZAMORA MOVES UP CAREER SCORING CHART: With his fifth career twogoal performance against Sacramento State Aug. 26, Julian Zamora moved up the CSU Bakersfield career scoring chart. Zamora has scored 22 career goals, the eighth most in school history. Jeremy Gunn (1989-92) holds the school mark for career goals with 46. Zamora is second among the CSUB players who have played only at the Division I level in career goals. Gyasi Zardes (2010-12) is the ‘Runner Division I school record holder for career goals with 38.
CSUB Head Coach Richie Grant ►Richie Grant was named head CSUB head coach in the Summer of 2014. ►Is in his 22nd season as a college head coach. ►Became the 50th active Division I men’s soccer head coach to win at least 200 matches in his career on Sept. 24, 2015. ►Grant led the Roadrunners to the WAC Tournament Championship match in 2014, tying UNLV before the Rebels advanced on penalty kicks. ►Came to CSUB from Memphis where he became the all-time winningest coach in Memphis history.
CLEVER & THE CSUB RECORD BOOK: Senior goalie Nicolas Clever will leave his mark in the CSU Bakersfield record book upon the conclusion of the 2016 season. Clever is sixth in school history in wins (18), seventh in shutouts (11), and seventh in minutes played (4,032). ABOUT USF: The Dons dropped their season opener 3-1 to Omaha last Friday night. Bryce Kaminski took two of the five Dons’ shots and scored the lone USF goal. A match at Creighton, scheduled for Monday night was cancelled due to weather. AROUND THE WAC: Just one weekend into the 2016 season, Seattle U is the early leader in shots (28) while Grand Canyon is tied with CSU Bakersfield for the lead in points (10) and the Lopes are alone at the top in goals (4). CSUB is also the leader in assists (4) while UT Rio Grande Valley holds the lead in saves (10). Individually, UNLV’s Danny Musovski holds the early lead in shots (14) and points (5) and is one of four players with two goals, joinging GCU’s Khadim Seye, UVU’s Paul Hoffmeister and CSUB’s Julian Zamora on that list. CSUB’s Hugo Vinales has two assists to lead the WAC. UTRGV’s Esa Aalto has the early lead in both GAA (0.00) and save percentage (1.000) after shutting out Georgia Southern. UNLV’s Nathan Bohm, SJSU’s Nedin Tucakovic and SU’s RJ Noll all have nine saves early in the year for the league lead.
