New Year’s Eve 2-007

Performers

To pique your interest for our 2007 New Year’s Eve dance, we will publish trivia questions each month about James Bond movies. The answers will be revealed in January’s newsletter which will be published just before New Year’s Eve. Question No. 1: From what source did Fleming draw the name, "James Bond." (No, it's not special whiskey.)

Swing ‘n’ Sway Presents

Question No. 2: Name the composer of the music, writer of the lyrics and singer of the title song for the James Bond 007 movie from the 80s, which starred Roger Moore, Carole Bouquet, Topol, Julian Glover and Lynn-Holly Johnson. (Hint: “For Your Eyes Only”)

2007 New Year’s Eve Dinner & Dance

Question No. 3: “In From Russia with Love,” James Bond is portrayed by Sean Connery. While in Istanbul, tracking down the Lektor coding machine, he ordered breakfast. What was his order?

A Note From Chet…

‘76 Dance Club

I wish to thank the ballroom dancers for the telephone inquiries and cards I received while having my heart problems. You are not only good dancers but wonderful people. Thank you! Chester Rogers

Swing ‘n’ Sway As 2007 shrinks to just two months remaining, it's a good time to plan how Dayton area ballroom dancers will conclude this memorable year. Swing 'n' Sway offers an excellent package to dance out of 2-007 and into 2008. The New Year's Eve dinner and dance package, at $50 per person, is the best option a ballroom dancer can have. Consider: a fine meal in a lovely setting. Following that, it's just a walk across the hall to the ballroom. DJ John Bramhall will play fine music and danceable versions of those movie theme songs from the 007 films. Many of them are slow, romantic tunes (boleros many of them) to you and yours can hold each other closely on one of the most romantic nights of the year. Tickets are limited. This event is not oversold. For tickets check with a Swing 'n' Sway board member as soon as possible. Don't get shut out.

The hot, hot temperatures and local festivals didn’t deter the many devoted dancers from attending the 76 Club October 6th dance. It was a night filled with great music, thanks to deejay Jack Yaus! The scheduled entertainers were no-shows which allowed for extra dancing time. On a personal note, I can guarantee that the ‘show will go on’ next month on November 3rd. Ron Kurth and I will perform the competition routines that we’re dancing in Atlanta at the Southeastern Regionals of USA Dance. Hope to see you on the 3rd! — Lynn Thompson

Dance Lesson on Rumba Instructed by

Bob & Rosie McCrady

This month's trivia question is as follows: James Bond, Agent 007, was recently in the news to mark the 45th anniversary of his screen debut. Name the film in which James Bond was introduced. See you 'round the dance floor. — Dean Shipley, Reporter

Dance(tonians) Frost on the pumpkin and the cool, crisp fall temperatures kept dancers on their feet all evening long to the fantastic music of DJs Tony and Tanna Rimkus at the second Saturday, October 13 Dance(tonians) dance! Georgia and Jim Watson from the Mid-Ohio Boogie Club in Columbus kept enthusiasm high and the disco rhythm pulsating, as they taught a superb Hustle Lesson.! Ya gotta love Hustle! It can turn frowns to smiles and serious expressions to laughter while surrendering to the pure enjoyment of getting caught up in the exciting music and freestyle steps and patterns with your partner. Saturday Night Fever! Live on! Thank you Georgia and Jim! On the November 10 second Saturday dance, the featured instructors will be Bob and Rosie McCrady owners of Bob and Rosie McCrady’s School of Dance who will teach Rumba. The second Saturday dance on December 8 will feature a Holiday Dance Party with champagne punch and a carry in of appetizers and desserts generously shared by all who attend the annual festive event. Featured instructors for the evening will be professional Mario Kraszewski and Leslie Gomez from Arthur Murray Dayton who will teach Mambo/Salsa and perform a hot Latin exhibition at intermission.

— Marilyn Collmer Franer Volume 11, Issue 11, Page 2

Join the Dance(tonians) at their second Saturday Dance on November 10 when the club will welcome Bob and Rosie McCrady, owners of Bob and Rosie McCrady’s Dance School here in Dayton, who will teach a Rumba lesson beginning at 7:30pm. Bob and Rosie are a popular dance couple in the Dayton area who took over the Bernice DuBro Studio last year when Bernice and Art retired to Florida. Their love of dancing is well known and they enjoy sharing this passion with their students and dancing friends. While they say they are new kids on the block as instructors, their knowledge, experience and talent is admired and respected throughout the dance community. When you meet Bob and Rosie, their enthusiasm and winning smiles and personalities brim over and you just know they enjoy life, have fun dancing and enjoy sharing this love with all who know them. Bob and Rosie teach at St. Mark’s Church Social Hall, 456 Woodman Drive, Dayton and teach all levels of dance. Visit their web site for class, group and party schedules at http://www.bnrdance.com Off the dance floor, Bob works at Hartzell Propeller in Piqua where he now serves as Director of Applied Technology. He has worked at the company for 22 years and also served in its Engineering division. Rosie manages the business side of the dance studio and expressed her passion of dancing when she said “working together teaching others is both of our passion and completes us. We are excited to be a part of the Dayton dance community teaching others the joy of dancing…expanding one’s mind, body & spirit.” Welcome Bob and Rosie! We look forward to sharing the evening with you! November 2007
