Group Dance Lessons

COMPLETE BEGINNERS

FOUR WEEK INTRODUCTORY COURSE

Group Classes Our group classes take place throughout the week and can range from a short one off workshop or master class to courses which last from 2 to 18 weeks. Group classes give students the chance to learn in a fun, relaxed and informal environment in a group of people of a similar level of experience. Which class should I join? If you’re a complete beginner or you have had very limited dancing experience in Ballroom and Latin American then the best place to start is our 3 week introductory course. This gives new dancers the opportunity to try a different Ballroom and Latin American dance each week and try the different styles of dancing before committing to our regular beginner classes. Once a student has joined the three week introductory course, or for pupils who have some dance experience, they can then join one of our 4 to 6 week beginner classes. These classes usually focus on one or occasionally two dances over the course of the classes. Routines, various exercises and technique are taught with the aim of studying the dance in more depth than the 3 week course with the target of enabling the student to have the skills to confidently dance at social events at and outside of the school.

FOR SLIGHTLY MORE EXPERIENCED DANCERS

FOUR TO SIX WEEK BEGINNER COURSES

What level am I? Our beginner classes teach a different routine each time we run a course. As we use the professional syllabus of both the IDTA and the ISTD, each time we run a course, for example a 4 week Waltz course, we use routines which have different choreography from the last time the Waltz class ran. This gives students the chance to learn many steps at the relevant level before moving on to more advanced choreography too prematurely. Are you a complete beginner? Join our 3 week introductory class Have you done some dancing before? Try one of our 4-6 week beginner classes

FOR MORE EXPERIENCED DANCERS OR FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ATTENDED OUR BEGINNER COURSES

FOUR TO SIX WEEK INTERMEDIATE COURSES

Want to dance on the fast track? Try private lessons Private Lessons or Group Classes? Private lessons enable students to learn what they want, when they want and at a pace that suits them. Private lessons do cost more than group classes as students benefit from having their own instructor whose sole focus is teaching and developing the student in front of them.

Testimonials

Testimonials Of the hundreds of dancers who have come through our doors, here is adjust a small selection of testimonials:

Jolene Lee “I’ve been taking private classes with The London Academy Of Dance for the past 3 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. I would highly recommend the Academy to anyone looking to take private tuition.”

Arda Eghiyan Ann Howarth

Zoe Clark

“I spend much of my working days at a computer, and so I love to get out onto the dance floor – I find the lessons provide great fun and laughter, and also some much needed exercise. They also make me realise that I should not be limited by my imagination in respect of what I can achieve.”

“I’ve been having lessons with the Academy for about four years. I started in one of the beginner Salsa classes and then went on to private dance lessons. Since then I have taken my Pre-Bronze, Bronze and Silver medals in both Ballroom and Latin.”

“The London Academy of Dance the best place in London for learning Ballroom and Latin American dancing. Not only is there is a warm and friendly atmosphere but the teaching is fantastic. My teacher breakdowns the steps and sequences so it’s not just your feet and body that know what they are doing, but also why they are doing it. Over the past five years, my dancing and my confidence on the dance floor has improved dramatically, I would – and do – recommend the school to anyone looking to start dancing.”

Trudy Nash

Robert Barrow

Ellyn Man

“I have found the teaching to be excellent. In my first few sessions alone I learnt some invaluable tips. The teacher explains things in a very clear structured way which helps to build a strong foundation. I would recommend dance to anyone. It’s a fantastic way of switching off from the stresses of life and a very healthy way to relax”

“My husband, Christopher and I have been coming to the academy classes since last year. Work commitments mean we can’t join a regular group so we have private lessons when we can fit them in. Our teacher, Christy is very patient especially as practise is hard to fit in too. ”

“I have been having private dance lessons with Greg from TLAD for a year now. The lessons were booked for me by a friend who knew that I would never have the courage or the confidence to do it myself. My only regret now is that I didn’t do it earlier!”

Sjane Crowder “I have been taking Ballroom and Latin private tuition with TLAD for just under a year. As an adult novice, I have found the style of instruction TLAD employs instrumental in my steady progress and motivation as a dancer.”
