Yesterday market opened in a flat note and was volatile throughout the trading hour. In the initial hour of trading nifty formed a double bottom around 8400 support level and started moving upward. Bank nifty one of the biggest contributors of nifty paved ways for the nifty to be in such volatility. The open interest over 8400 put option has been considerably increased which is an indication that the nifty has taken some support over the zone. As we mentioned earlier some volatility is expected until the nifty trade above 8550 level with days of consolidation above the same. At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 51 points, whereas the NSE Nifty finished higher by 18 points. The S&P BSE Midcap and the S&P BSE Small Cap finished up by 0.4% & 0.3% respectively. Sectoral indices finished the day on a mixed note with healthcare and banking stocks leading the losses. PSU, energy, and consumer durables stocks led the gainers. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was positive. On the BSE, 1,441 shares rose and 1,286 shares declined. A total of 199 shares were unchanged. Resistance 8460-8480-8537-8571-8598 and Support at 8372-8331-8277-8230-8195. Today market expected to open negative note.

MARKET NEWS Earnings Today: Adani Power, Canara Bank, JSW Energy, RBL Bank and State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur (SBBJ) will announce their financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2016 on Friday. Gallantt Ispat: Gallantt Ispat on Thursday reported 13.95 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 9.31 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2016 against Rs 8.17 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Alembic Ltd: The company reported a net profit of Rs 0.68 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2016 against net loss of Rs 3.91 crore in the same quarter last year. Motherson Sumi Systems: The company has agreed to buy Finnish truck wire maker PKC Group for 571 million euros ($609 million).
