TENNIS

This has been such an amazing season for both boys and girls BCHS tennis. Both teams had a lot of new facsome of which had never played before this season. For the boys to make team regionals and the girls to place 5th in their division is absolutely remarkable and just shows how dedicated these kids have been all son. They have worked hard to improve their games and make it the best season yet for them.

Fall 2015 es, sea-

The girls team this year grew even stronger with six new Freshmen, and this season being a learning experience for them. We had three returning players on the team this year and they took in the new Freshmen under their wings to help build a wonderful tennis family quick. The girls taught each other how to improve their games and make their team stronger. Their hard work and teamwork almost sent them to team regionals for our division. It is so wonderful to see these girls determined to improve their games with each match. Their hard work almost placed them in the top four to go to team regionals, and they unfortunately got pushed into fifth place by a tie breaker between the two teams above them. That didn't stop us from sending three singles players and two doubles teams to individual regionals. Junior, Natalia Fullmer, was ranked #7 in 1-A Sunrise Division and won her first round in regionals with scores 6,1/6,1. Freshman, Harley Fullmer, was ranked #6 in 1-A Sunrise Division and fought diligently in three sets with scores 5,7/ 6,0/6,6 TB 7,5 to advance into the second round. Freshmen, Natalie Bowman, was not ranked but was still selected to compete in individual regionals. In her first round, she played the #1 ranked player in 1-A Sunset Division. Natalie played strong and kept great rallies going but unfortunately lost in the first round 0,6/0,6. Juniors, Kyra Yamamoto and McKenna Frazier, played the #1 doubles team for BCHS and was ranked #4 for 1-A Sunrise Division individual regionals. They won their first round with 6,1/6,6 TB 8,6. Freshmen, Kali Martin and Olivia Goodfellow, were able to compete in the first round for individual doubles teams. They were matched up against the #1 ranked doubles team for 1-A Sunset Division. They unfortunately lost the first round 0,6/0,6. I could not be more proud of the girls team with all of their hard work and effort put on the courts this year. It has shown with the amount of girls we sent to regionals, and even though we all lost in the second round, they walked off the courts with pride and ready to prepare our return next year. The boys team this year was one of the largest teams that has been on the courts for BCHS and a learning experience for all. We had a lot of returning players and an amazing turnout of new faces for. They worked hard making it difficult to find our strongest teams and lineup that we were able to send to team regionals. During practices, they would push each other to improve particular points of their own games and help better themselves individually and as a team. We were able to finish in the top four as a team for 1-A Sunrise Division. The boys battled at team regionals and were not able to advance past the first round. Their fight and determination throughout the season helped send three singles players and two doubles teams to individual regionals. Sophomore, Andre Pappas, was ranked #3 for 1-A Sunrise Division. He played his strong game against a boy from Clark and won his first round with scores 6,4/6,1. Sophomore, Sam O'Berto, was ranked #8 1-A Sunrise Division and won his first round 6,0/6,0. Our foreign exchange student this season was not ranked for our division but we were still able to send him to individual regionals. Pedro played a great match against the #6 ranked 1-A Sunrise Division player and almost went into a third set. In the end, Pedro was not victorious against his opponent and lost in the first round. We were able to send two doubles teams to individual regionals this year for the boys. Seniors, Aidan Schofield and Jordan Hill, played against #3 ranked 1-A Sunset Division double team and lost 0,6/0,6. Sophomore, Adam Clary, and Freshmen, Leaf Kaboli, played for our second team of doubles. They were matched up against the #7 ranked 1-A Sunrise Division team. They unfortunately lost their first round 2,6/2,6. All the boys fought hard and had some great rallies and points throughout the regionals tournament. We were able to send two of our singles players to the second round and even though they lost, they all walked off the courts happy with their games and hard work.

Cross Country/Golf

Both of the cross country teams found success this year. The girls strove hard every week to put in a good effort and the season ended well with a fifth place finish in the state tournament. Individually senior captain Emma Torgesen led the team and always pushed our best runner, sophomore Sierra Selinger to new heights. Sierra found the right stride at the region race and ran away with the title. She returns as a top returner in southern Nevada next year.

Fall 2015

Our boys may not have had the same team success that the girls did, but individually, they got better week after week putting in the practices that they needed in order to perform and get new personal bests. Senior Joren Selinger led the team as captain and in spirit as he pushed on junior Tyler Campbell to a 4th place finish at the region race. All runners except Joren are returning so we look to be even stronger next season.

The Boulder City Lady Eagles Golf Team had a great season this year. Over all as a th team, we finished 5 in the State tournament which we hosted at our home course of Boulder Creek Golf Club. Lani Potter lead the Eagles with an incredible season winning all 5 league matches. She then placed 5th in the Regional Tournament and held the lead for 27 holes of the State Tournament eventually placing 2nd in State. For all her great play she was awarded the 1A Southern Region Player of the Year As well as First Team All-Southern Region. For all of her achievements she was also our team’s Player of the Year. Everyone on the team played well and earned All-League honors for the Sunrise Division. Madisan Walker played well enough to place tied for 17 th in state and earned 2nd Team All- Southern Region. Madisan worked hard all year and was our team’s Most Improved Player of the Year. Madisan has a bright future and we look forward to great things from her. Holly Piper earned our team’s Coaches Award. Holly attends Las Vegas Academy and was a first year player for the Eagles. She Earned 2nd Team Sunrise Region honors. 3rd year player Lauryn Norris joined Lani and Madisan on the 1A Sunrise 1 st team. Lauryn improved by 10 to 15 strokes over last year and helped the Eagles make it to the State Tournament. First year player Ryann Reese earned 2nd Team Sunrise honors. She had a personal season best 112 at the state tournament, which was 10 strokes better than her previous low. The future looks great for the Boulder City Lady Eagles. Moving forward, we hope to continue our efforts to improve as a team throughout the off season. It is our goal to get everyone to drop their stroke average 5 to 10 strokes by next year and bring home the State Title.

Fall 2015

Boulder City Lady Eagles started the pre-season conditioning and skills development in August with approximately 20 athletes who showed up every morning at 5:30 AM. They ended the season with more than 30 athletes participating. With only five seniors on the varsity squad, the season progressed as expected with the team improving with each game. After a 10 loss to Moapa Valley the girls could feel the improvement and began to realize what it takes to win games. As the season progressed and as the girls became familiar with expectations, the varsity squad showed huge improvement in all areas.

Coaches of the Lady Eagles feel the team is stacked with the three best back defenders in the league and they will be returning next season, giving us something to look forward to. In fact, the Eagles will be returning several experienced players who are highly competitive.

J.V.

The JV squad was the most pleasant surprise with several new athletes who were being introduced to high school soccer for the first time. They were competitive in all games and won several. Many of these athletes will be competing for starting places on the varsity squad next season. The coaching staff will miss the seniors who proved how fortunate they are to get the opportunity to work with such a dedicated group. Overall 2015 season was a huge improvement over the previous year, and even though the team missed the playoffs, there is a belief it was a success in many other areas.

This fall season was a learning season for new coach Chad Smith and his team. He worked to build the program with the “This is your team” mentality. The boys’ really bought in. Leading the defense was Center back Sebastian Balmer, followed by Noah Moorhead, Parker Johnson, Cory Bailey, and Alex and John Krausman. Setting up the middle was easy, Benjamin Missell and

Hunter Dale seemed like a good fit, with some assistance from Alex and John Krausman and Max Krill. On the wings we had Robbie Leavitt and Chandler Johnson, and leading up the Forwards were Monte Morris and Kevin Vallely, Airan Pohe, Jordan Harris, Caden Mendiola and Jackson Wright stepped up to help out during the season which allowed for some flexibility. Barrett Cowdrey played a spectacular season as Goal Keeper. Next season is sure to be a success with all of young players.
