den Entschluss, das Wissen über richtige Fahrzeugbeherrschung auch im Grenzbereich jedem Autofahrer zugänglich zu machen und zu lehren, die Gefahren im Straßenverkehr frühzeitig zu erkennen, fasste der BMW Vorstand bereits 1976. Am 22. April 1977 starteten die ersten offiziellen BMW Trainings in Manching unter Leitung der BMW Motorsport GmbH. Mit anfänglich 15 Teilnehmern zwischen 22 und 45 Jahren waren diese Trainings nicht nur ein erster Erfolg, sondern zugleich eines der ersten Fahrtrainings eines Automobilherstellers überhaupt. Das Ziel damals wie heute: perfekte Automobile mit genauso gutem Fahrkönnen zu verbinden – „die Einheit aus Mensch und Maschine noch leistungsfähiger zu machen“, wie es ähnlich in ersten Trainings-Protokollen heißt. Nicht nur aus reinem Sicherheitsdenken: Wunsch war es schon damals, mit den Erfahrungen aus dem Motorsport die Freude am Fahren in Grenzbereichen erlebbar zu machen.
Was vor 40 Jahren noch als Idee des damaligen BMW Motorsport GmbH Geschäftsführers Jochen Neerpasch mit einem zweitägigen Lehrgang in Manching begann, hat sich zu einem der professionellsten und mit ca. 25.000 Teilnehmern jährlich größten Fahrtrainingsangebote entwickelt. Anspruch damals wie heute: „die optimale Verbindung des besseren Automobils mit dem besseren Fahrer“. What began 40 years ago as an idea from former BMW Motorsport GmbH president Jochen Neerpasch to offer a two-day course in Manching has evolved into one of the most professional and largest driver training programmes with more than 25,000 participants. Its mission then as it is now: „The optimal union of the better automobile with the better driver“.
the decision to make knowledge about proper vehicle control in any condition accessible to every driver and to instruct drivers about the early detection of hazards in road traffic was already made by the BMW Executive Board in 1976. Subsequently, on 22 April 1977, the first official BMW Training course took place in Manching under the leadership of BMW Motorsport GmbH. With 15 participants between the ages of 22 and 45, these first courses were not only an initial success, they were also one of the first driver training programmes ever initiated by an automobile manufacturer. The goal then was the same as it is now: to combine the perfect automobile with equally skilled driving ability „To make the entity of man and machine even more capable“, was the description in the early training protocols. But the idea behind the concept was not purely safetyrelated: Already at that time, the desire was to use the experiences from motor sport in order to convey true joy of driving – even at the limits.

Auch außerhalb der Grenzen Deutschlands ist die BMW und MINI Driving Experience präsent wie nie zuvor: aktuell in über 30 Ländern mit rund 40 unterschiedlichen Trainings. So zum Beispiel in den Niederlanden, den USA, Indien, China, Rumänien, Kanada, Südafrika und Italien. Und was 1977 mit 15 Teilnehmern begann, hat heute weltweit jährlich über 100.000 Teilnehmer. Alleine in Deutschland sind es über 25.000 Teilnehmer pro Jahr. Und auch in den nächsten Jahren haben wir noch viel vor – am liebsten zusammen mit Ihnen. The fastest way to safe and confident driving: BMW Compact Basic Training is one of the fastest ways to learn the essentials of safe driving. To start with, the focus is on fundamentals like the best seating position and posture at the wheel. Then it’s time to tackle the training course in one of the latest BMW models. Here, you‘ll encounter real-life situations that can‘t be practiced in road traffic. How does the vehicle respond to sudden evasive manoeuvres, emergency braking and understeering? We‘ll show you how to handle such situations. Because when it really matters, you can only respond properly when you know what to expect.

BMW COMPACT BASIC TRAINING YOUNG. Fahranfänger bewegen sich im Straßenverkehr oft noch sehr unsicher. Sie überschätzen sich selbst und werden zur Gefahr für sich und andere. Da es sich oft um Schüler, Auszubildende oder Studenten handelt, die noch kein hohes Einkommen haben, ist das BMW Compact Basic Training Young für 95 Euro ein günstiger Weg zu mehr Souveränität hinter dem Steuer. Die Teilnahme ist auch für 17-Jährige mit begleitetem Fahren möglich. Die Begleitperson zahlt einen vergünstigten Preis für die Teilnahme am Training.
Beginners with limited driving experience often lack confidence in everyday traffic situations. They may also overestimate their driving skills and become a danger to themselves and other road users. For students or trainees with little extra money, our BMW Compact Basic Training Young for only 95 Euros is an affordable way to gain confidence at the wheel. BMW BASIC TRAINING YOUNG. Im Rahmen dieses ganztägigen Trainings werden Fahranfänger auf potenziell gefährliche Situationen im alltäglichen Straßenverkehr vorbereitet. In this one-day training session, beginners with limited driving experience will learn how to handle potentially dangerous situations they may encounter in everyday traffic. These are significantly heavier than normal vehicles and require quite different driving skills. How do I take evasive action in these vehicles at high speeds? Covering more than 130 hectares, the site isn’t just one of the largest and most impressive driving safety centres in Germany, it is also one of the most modern. The surfaces, some of which can be flooded, are large enough to provide space for driver and safety training classes for beginners as well as more challenging drift training and high-speed circuit courses. Bridgestone und BMW… eine andauernde Spitzenpartnerschaft Im nunmehr sechsten Jahr in Folge verbündet sich Bridgestone, der weltweit größte Reifenund Gummihersteller, mit BMW als exklusiver Reifenlieferant für die BMW Driving Experience. Der Vertrag sieht die Lieferung diverser Bridgestone Reifen vor wie die Potenza S001 und RE050 für die BMW-Modelle BMW M135, BMW 3er, BMW M4 und BMW M6, BMW i3 sowie Mini Modelle. Seit der ersten Ausgabe der BMW Driving Experience im Jahre 2009 erhielten rund 120.000 Fahrer in ganz Europa Fahr- und Sicherheitsschulungen. Die jüngsten Verträge, bekanntgemacht im Mai 2016, beziehen sich auf die Lieferung von Premium Bridgestone Potenza S001 UHP Sportreifen und Blizzak LM001 Winterreifen für den 2015er BMW 7er sowie Bridgestones Flagship-Tourenreifen Turanza T001 für den aktuellen BMW X1.
“Ologic”-Reifen, die auf das dynamische Handling und die nachhaltige Leistung dieser Fahrzeuge abgestimmt sind. Ologic-Reifen haben besonders große Durchmesser und schmale Karkassen, welche Reifendeformation, Energieverlust und Rollwiderstand verringern und dabei genauso sicher sind wie herkömmliche Reifen. Der geringere Rollwiderstand führt zu geringerem Verbrauch, weniger CO2-Emissionen und bei elektrischen Autos zu einer größeren Reichweite.
BAHNBRECHENDE RUN-FLAT-TECHNOLOGIE
Viele dieser Erstausrüsterverträge umfassen Reifen mit RunFlat-Technologie (RFT), die zusätzliche Sicherheit bieten, indem sie es ermöglichen, nach einer Reifenpanne mit geringerer Geschwindigkeit noch eine bestimmte Distanz zurückzulegen. Bridgestone und BMW haben seit vielen Jahren mit den RFTReifen Pionierarbeit geleistet und arbeiten bei Entwicklung und Tests eng zusammen. Bridgestone Run-Flat-Reifen wurden erstmals im Jahr 2000 am Z8 Roadster, später auch an den 5ern, 3ern und 1ern eingesetzt. Gegenwärtig verlassen elf BMW-Reihen und drei Minis die Fabrik mit Bridgestones Run-Flat-Reifen.

Bridgestone and BMW… an enduring premium partnership For the sixth consecutive year Bridgestone, the world’s largest tyre and rubber manufacturer, has teamed up with BMW as exclusive tyre supplier for the BMW Driving Experience. The contract calls for the delivery of several Bridgestone tyres such as the Potenza S001 and RE050 to be fitted to a number of BMW – BMW M135, BMW 3 Series, BMW M4 and BMW M6, BMW i3 – and Mini models. Since the first edition of the BMW Driving Experience in 2009, the course has offered specialist training in driving skills and safety to around 120,000 motorists across Europe. And Bridgestone has supplied more than 150,000 tyres to the programme. SHARED VISION
This BMW Driving Experience agreement has its roots in the longstanding collaboration between BMW and Bridgestone, based on a shared vision of performance, innovation and sustainable mobility. Bridgestone started supplying original equipment tyres to BMW Group in Europe in 1996, designing tyres that complement the dynamic handling and responsiveness of BMW vehicles. The relationship has grown over the last 20 years to include a long list of factory fitments right across the range of BMW models. The most recent contracts, announced in May 2016, cover the supply of premium Bridgestone Potenza S001 UHP sport tyres and Blizzak LM001 winter tyres for the 2015 top-of-the-range luxury BMW 7 Series saloon, and Bridgestone’s flagship touring tyre Turanza T001 for the latest BMW X1 compact crossover.
PIONEERING RUN FLAT TECHNOLOGY
Many of these original equipment contracts have included Run Flat Technology (RFT) tyres, which give drivers an additional dimension of safety by enabling them to continue driving for a certain distance at reduced speed after a puncture. Bridgestone and BMW have pioneered RFT tyres for many years, working closely together in the development and testing. Bridgestone run-flat fitments started in 2000 with the BMW Z8 roadster, followed by the 5 Series, 3 Series and 1 series. Today 11 BMW Series models and 3 MINI versions leave the factory equipped with Bridgestone run flat tyres.
INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
More recently the partnership has expanded to include the design and development of radically different types of tyres to meet the requirements of visionary new BMW vehicles. Appointed exclusive tyre developer for the revolutionary BMW i3 all-electric urban car, Bridgestone developed Ecopia EP500“ologic” tyres that complement the dynamic handling and sustainable performance of these revolutionary new vehicles.
Ologic tyres have particularly large diameters and narrow treads, which reduce tyre deformation and loss of energy during driving, helping to reduce rolling resistance while at the same time maintaining the safety levels of conventional tyres. This lower rolling resistance leads to improved fuel consumption, lower CO2 emissions and in the case of all-electric engines, an extended range of operation.

Thanks to their design and use of innovative materials, Bridgestone Ecopia tyres made with ologic technology meet BMW’s sustainable targets and fulfill the requirement for dynamic driving performance. This technology won Bridgestone the BMW Supplier Innovation Award 2014 in the category “Efficient Dynamics” and was also voted “Tire Technology of the Year” in the Tire Technology International Awards for Innovation and Excellence 2014 in Cologne, Germany.
