Enable mPE resin formulated collation shrink films are suitable for a broad range of bundling applications including bottled waters and beverages, canned goods, hand soaps, detergents and health & beauty aids. When compared with conventional LDPE-rich resin alternatives, Enable mPE-based resin collation shrink films provide the following benefits: significant improvement in toughness, puncture, and clarity; improved TD shrink performance at thinner gauge; unit cost reduction and lower transportation costs achieved through up to 25% downgauging; and total film weight reduction of up to 25% - more sustainable flexible film solutions.

Vistamaxx PBE enhances sealing performance of cast PP film and packaging line efficiencies

Converters are producing packaging films which combine outstanding optical properties with excellent mechanical and sealing properties by using Exceed mPE 1018 resin in the outer layers and Enable mPE 27-03CH resin in the core of a three-layer co-extruded film structure.

Producers of cast polypropylene (cPP) film are enhancing sealing performance and improving their customers packaging line efficiencies using VistamaxxTM. It is adding value to cPP films primarily because it enables films to be produced with very low seal initiation temperatures (SIT) for faster packaging line speeds and improved performance.

While Exceed mPE resin provides excellent mechanical and sealing performance, the use of Enable mPE resin eliminates the need for low density polyethylene (LDPE) which can adversely affect the toughness and strength of the film. In addition, exceptional optical properties can be obtained when film output rate is increased. Exceed and Enable mPE resins in combination are ideal for use in lamination packaging film, compression packaging film and produce and bread bag film. Running Enable mPE resin in the core layer at high output produces films with an exceptional combination of properties including: The appearance of a second yield point with either higher levels of Enable mPE resin and/or high output rates Dart impact and tear strength that is very high Tensile strength and energy at break Elongation properties similar to pure Exceed mPE 1018 resin Stiffness that can be tailored by adding high density polyethylene (HDPE) in the core without detriment to the optical properties Because Enable mPE 27-03CH resin is easier to process it provides converters with the opportunity to increase output. Tests have shown that by using 20% Enable mPE 27-03CH resin, film output can be increased by 20% compared with using Exceed mPE 1018 series in the core.

When used as a cling additive, VistamaxxTM delivers improved cling performance and processability at significantly lower dosing levels and formulation costs for cast stretch film converters. Vistamaxx offers intrinsic adhesion and broad polyolefin compatibility which enables the formulation of the required cling at low dosing levels of only 5 to 10% in the cling layer with LLDPE or mLLDPE. This results in: higher production rates on conventional FFS lines that are not currently being run at their full potential and, investment in newer high line speed FFS lines becomes increasingly attractive. Exceed mPE adds genuine value across the supply chain as the needs of each member can be met. Films with significantly reduced gauge can be run at higher line speeds while maintaining good or improved overall packaging integrity.

Significant downgauging of LDPE based films can be achieved without compromising stiffness, puncture and tear strength When comparing Enable mPE resin formulated films with complex blending alternatives for coextruded film they provide: improvement in bubble stability; formulation simplification; excellent balance of toughness properties and creep resistance; and overall property balance can be tailored by the choice of Enable mPE grades. When comparing Enable mPE resin formulated film with conventional LDPE-rich resin alternatives for monolayer film they provide: improved tensile, modulus, tear and dart impact strength; similar creep at significantly reduced gauge; unit cost reduction achieved through >25% downgauging versus LDPE rich films; total film weight reduction of 25% – lower logistics cost and more sustainable flexible film solutions; and no loss in film line output.
