BIG TEN MEN’S TENNIS TOURNAMENT PREVIEW The 2010 Big Ten Men’s Tennis Tournament, hosted by Indiana University, is set to begin with opening round action on Thursday, April 29, concluding with the tournament championship match on Sunday, May 2. The tournament winner will be the conference’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Championship. Three matchups highlight the opening round schedule on Thursday. In the first match of the tournament, No. 8 Penn State (3-7, 15-10) takes on No. 9 Northwestern (1-9, 9-14) at 9 a.m. ET. In Match 2, No. 7 Iowa (4-6, 12-9) will face No. 10 Purdue (1-9, 11-14) at 11:30 a.m. ET, and in the third match of the day, No. 6 Indiana (5-5, 15-9) faces No. 11 Michigan State at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Big Ten Network Coverage The Big Ten Network will televise Sunday’s Big Ten Tournament final. The broacast will air on Sunday, May 9, at 7 p.m. ET

The top five seeds each received byes into Friday’s quarterfinal round. The top-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes, winners of the last four Big Ten Tournaments, will face the Penn State/Northwestern winner at 8 a.m. ET. Fourth-seeded Wisconsin (7-3, 18-6) will meet No. 5 Minnesota at 10:30 a.m. ET and will be followed by No. 2 Illinois (9-1, 17-9) against the Iowa/Purdue winner. Friday’s fourth and final match will pit No. 3 Michigan against the Indiana/Michigan State winner.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Saturday’s first semifinal will be at 10 a.m. ET and will be followed by the second semifinal at 2 pm. ET. The tournament final will be contested at Noon on Sunday.
