Pastor Rick’s Message Brothers and Sisters in Christ, It’s November, the leaves are falling, their color almost gone and yet the sun is shining and life continues on. It is chilly but not yet cold, fires are being built, furnaces turned on and hunting season will soon be here. There is much change in the Fall, as the earth prepares itself for rest over the next few months. Yes the earth takes a Sabbath every year, time to renew and rejuvenate, time to decompose and renew minerals, time to relax and rest. We too, must take some time to rest and relax, to recharge the batteries, to prepare for changes. Now we think of Sabbath as Sunday, because that is the day God rested and it is church day. However, a Sabbath day can come any day we take to rest. Maybe you work Sunday, take another day to refresh. It is important for our bodies, minds and souls to have time to relax and take pause. It is healthy for us to do this. This month I will be headed to Phoenix for my annual Leading Well conference. At this conference along with study and meetings we sprinkle in Sabbath time to relax and fellowship with others. I look forward to this time as a learning event to make myself a better leader for you and a time to renew. Following this event I will take some vacation time to further my rest and renewal. Some of this time will be spent in CO with my family and the rest will be in MN with my wife and kids and her family. I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, a time to pause and take note of those things we are thankful for. I am thankful for these congregations and that God has called me here to serve. Take time this next month to take Sabbath and relax, renew and restart.

Pr. Rick

Senior meals at the Brantwood Community I received a correction to the senior meal info. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused. The price (suggested) at the Center is $3.25 and delivery is $3.75. Also, it’s not just over 60 yrs. plus spouse eligible. Anyone can eat at the Center; they just pay a different price for under 60yrs when they come. The phone # to call is 715/564-2569(every Mon-Thur) between 9AM & 12:30PM to order a meal for the next day. Calling the day before is important. Call Sally Ellis at 715-564-2569

Wednesday Prayer for November 2, 2016 All Saints Sunday Gracious and holy, life-giving God, we give you thanks for the many saints who have gone before us in faith and mission. We thank you for those who have encouraged and supported us along the way; help us to encourage others. With continued grief, we remember those children and young people who have been murdered by their perpetrators and exploiters. Help us to walk with their families through the difficult days ahead. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

University Style Confirmation When a core class is scheduled, supper is provided at the host church for the confirmation students and their parents. This makes it possible for those parents coming right after work and kids busy with school work an opportunity to have a quick meal at 5:30 before the class starts. First in Prentice will again host the core classes on: January 25th-April 19th We are asking for volunteers to prepare and cleanup for one of the nights listed. Call the office for more information or to sign up for which night would work for you. Thank you. Zion will be hosting a core class on January 19th and will be preparing the meal.

Shared Ministry Agreement Most of you are aware that First Lutheran of Prentice, Zion Lutheran of Brantwood, First Evangelical of Ogema, and First Evangelical of Westboro have formed an Exploratory Committee to search the possibilities of pooling all of our resources and combining into a Parish.

All of the churches will keep their own identities: buildings, congregations and budgets. The “Parish” would be combining our resources i.e.; Ministers, ministries and financial to name a few. The last meeting was held October 23rd at Westboro. The recommended Shared Ministry Agreement is just about completed, with some minor verbiage to be completed at our next meeting on December 4th. Projection for the proposed budget has been recommended at $173,000.00 The budget proposal is almost exactly What we as individual churches are spending currently. This budget does include for a full time pastor, a part time pastor, an intern, and a part time Parish secretary. We currently do not have an intern or a Parish secretary. We are nearing completion of our work on the proposal for the Shared Ministry Agreement and hope to have it completed and ready for review by all four church councils after our December 4th meeting. When the four church councils have approved the agreement, it will then be presented for a vote at a congregational meeting. We of the exploratory committee are very excited to see the progress of our work and all the possible ministries that our Parish can provide. With the passage from the church councils and the congregations, the work of the exploratory committee will end and a permanent Parish Council will be elected. It will be their duty to set the actual workings of the parish, it’s ministries, budget and future. Each church will provide two members to sit on the Parish Council. One member will be from each council and the second will come from it’s congregation. Please keep this in your thoughts for the future. We all pray that God will continue to bless and direct us as we move forward. I strongly encourage all of us to make any comments or suggestions to Pastor Rick, Marvin Steliga, Warren Carlson Jr., or Butch Dahlke before the December 4th meeting. May God bless us all. Butch Dahlke
