APPENDIX A 2014 Arctic Winter Games - Gymnastics General Rules A modification of the USA Gymnastics (USAG) Junior Olympic LEVEL 6,7,8 rules will be used to judge the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. The following is a list of major differences between Canadian FIG and USAG rule: 

Maximum score is a 10.0 (unlike the F.I.G system). Difficulty = 1.0 any missing difficulty is subtracted from this category. Special Requirements = 2.5 any missing special requirements is subtracted from this category. Execution and Amplitude = 6.5. All execution and amplitude deductions are subtracted from this category. A gymnast cannot lose more than any category is worth. Adding the total points from each category is the final scare. Another way of saying it: if a gymnast starts with a 10.0, the judge will subtract out the value of any missing difficulty, special requirements and exec & amp and the remainder is the final score.

Difficulty Requirement of 5 “A” & 2 “B”skills “A” skills are worth .1 each, “B” skills are worth .3 each. There are a few F.I.G. “A” skills that are valued as USAG “B” skills. There is no extra credit for additional “B” skills. Additional B skills may count as “A” skills.

Special Requirements are specific to each event. Each S.R.is valued at .5

Bonus .1 bonus may be earned when a gymnast sticks her vault, bar or beam dismount

USAG/FIG “C” ACRO skills are unallowable. If a USAG/FIG “C” skill is performed in a routine the gymnast would 1) not receive a value part, 2) -0.5 deduction and 3) receive appropriate execution deductions.

Dance skills above a “B” are allowed. They will not be given extra consideration. Execution and amplitude deductions will be taken. An above ”B” dance skill may replace an “A” or “B” skill.

General warm up. Gymnasts will receive a 20 minute open stretch on the floor or vault runway. At this time gymnasts are not allowed on the equipment.

Timed warm up. During team competition the team will receive a 4 minute block. The coaches have the option of breaking down that block as they feel
