Gymnastics & Tumbling A perfect 10! Our gymnastics and tumbling programs provide a recreational atmosphere that emphasizes coordination, flexibility, balance and self-confidence.

Open Gym: Gymnastics Open Gym: Gymnastics Open Gym is an unstructured but supervised gymnastics activity where children can play in the gym. It provides practice time for each gymnast to work individually on the events and skills they wish. Certified coaches are present to provide supervision, spotting and safety tips as needed. This is not a gymnastics class but a fun activity for the kids. Please pay for Open Gym by 5 p.m. due to the front desk hours (closes at 5 p.m.). No open gym July 4. (KB) Age

Gymnastics & Tumbling Co-Ed Flyaways gymnastics

Co-Ed Flyaways The Fox Valley Park District’s Gymnastics Program provides classes in a recreational atmosphere while maintaining a professional level of instruction. Each class will emphasize coordination, flexibility, balance and self-confidence while introducing students to a variety of skills on the vault, bars, beam and floor. The Competitive Levels 2 and 3 and Fox Valley Flyaways Team gymnasts have the opportunity to compete in the Illinois Park District Gymnastics Conference for the compulsory and optional levels. New students can be evaluated and placed into the proper ability level before entering the program and then evaluated regularly throughout their training. A minimum age of 6 is required unless given instructor’s approval. Parents of Junior Flyaways and Flyaways Level 1 – Level 4 are welcome to watch the last week of each session. Little Flyaways Little Flyaways is an introductory gymnastics program at Eola and Prisco consisting of four levels for ages 18 months to 5 years. The Little Flyaways gymnastics classes focus on developing motor skills, coordination, strength, flexibility, body awareness and basic gymnastics skills. In the parent/child classes, children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Please make alternate arrangements for siblings. At Eola, the child care area is available in the morning during the weekdays. Parent Watch is on the third week and last week of each session. Parents are asked to stay during the duration of the class in case the child needs to use the restroom. All of the Little Flyaways gymnastics classes progress into the recreational and/ or competitive programs. Call Kristin Balderas at 630-851-8990 for more information.

Junior Flyaways Children are introduced to all four Olympic gymnastics events. Gymnasts begin or continue learning forward and backward rolls and working on handstands against the wall as well as away from the wall. They also learn cartwheels, bridges, pullovers and casts on bars; walks and jumps on the beam and springboard and vaulting techniques. No class July 4-5. (KB) Age

Flyaways Level 1 Flyaways Level 1 is a basic level for children who are new to gymnastics. Gymnastics & Tumbling Flyaways Level 2

Flyaways Competitive Level 2

This program progressively builds on the skills learned in Level 1. Through structured practices, gymnasts are taught how to do forward straddle rolls, backward pike rolls, cartwheels, handstand forward rolls, back hip circles, sole circles and dive roll vault drills as well as levers and tuck jump dismounts. Gymnasts must pass Level 1 before enrolling in this class unless evaluated and approved by a park district instructor. No class July 4-5. (KB)

This program is designed to advance Flyaways Noncompetitive Level 4 gymnasts onto the Flyaways Competitive Level 2 Team. Flyaways Gymnastics Team Gymnasts on the award-winning Fox Valley Flyaways competitive gymnastics team are required to practice nine hours per week. These gymnasts perform higher-level skills mandated by USAG as well as NFHS/ISHA rules and regulations. Gymnasts are expected to compete in the compulsory season from September to December as well as the optional season from January to April. Each practice will focus on flexibility, strength, routines, form, positive attitude, self-confidence and motivation. Using vault, bars, beam and floor as well as the tunnels, parachutes and a blow-up air trak, children learn how to wiggle and roll, swing on bars, jump on mats, walk on beams and perform other gymnastics activities. Fun-filled age-appropriate activities keep children engaged while they learn the foundations of gymnastics. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. This interactive program introduces parent and child to the world of gymnastics. Skills are taught on vault, balance beam, bars and tumbling. Beginning Tumbling

Kids live in a physical world where playtime consists of running, jumping, climbing, etc., and this Tiny Tumblers class is an excellent activity for developing selfesteem through improved gross motor skills. Flyaways Competitive Tumbling for Cheerleaders

Cheerleading Stunting for Cheerleading This class teaches basic stunting from all positions (back, base and flyer) and introduces more advanced stunts for male and female cheerleaders who are looking to advance their skills. Poms This poms class focuses on learning dance techniques, sharp leg and arm movements, routines and group work to develop an atmosphere of teamwork. When registering for class, new participants need to order poms, which are $20 per pair. (KB)
