Tuesday 31st March 2014 Week 10 Dear Parents,

Congratulations to all our Year 3,4,5,& 6 students who participated in the Netball and Football Challenge last Tuesday at Ward Oval. The sportsmanship, skill and passion for both games was evident in the students, staff and parents. A big congratulations to our Year 3/4 Boys Rugby League side who were premiers of the day. The boys will now participate in the next round of the David Peachey competition. Well done! I’ve included some photos from the day in this newsletter. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of our Year 4 Netball Team— if any parent took a photo could you please email a copy to school. Thank you. This week St John’s is hosting visits from the WF Catholic Education Office and other schools from our cluster. On Wednesday we have our 5 Year Compliance Audit. On Thursday Executive staff from St Joseph’s Nyngan, St Patrick’s, Brewarrina, St John’s, Nyngan and St Mary’s ,Warren will be meeting with Mr Davidson and myself in our ‘Bulding Leaders and Transforming Leadership’ professional learning. Mrs Helen Polack will be the leader in charge of the school on Thursday. Thank you to Abby Bruce for catering for both days. School photo day is this Friday! Students need to come to school dressed in the Full Summer uniform; Girls: Blue check culottes (length to knee), blue polo shirt with school crest, White socks to cover ankles (No sport anklets) and Black leather shoes—ribbons, clips etc should be blue. Thank you. Boys: Grey shorts (no cargo shorts) Blue polo shirt with school crest, grey socks to cover ankles (No sport anklets) & black leather shoes

There will be no sport on Friday. You can send your child to school on Thursday in sports uniform to keep a uniform clean for Friday. ANZAC Day March and Ceremonies Friday the 25th April 2014. We encourage all our students to wear their full school summer uniform including school hat to support the Returned & Services League of Australia. I am asking our Year 6 leaders to lead our school on the day. Students should meet at the RSL club on ANZAC day at 9:45am. Canteen Roster—as you are all aware, our Wednesday & Friday wonderful canteen lady Abby Bruce will welcome her new baby very soon! Abby will not be able to coordinate the canteen in Term 2. We are calling for volunteers for term 2. We are not expecting a volunteer for each week but perhaps you could volunteer once a term? Please contact the front office so we can fill the roster for Term 2. Thank you . Ongoing School Working Bee—We have numerous odd jobs that need completing around the school. It can be difficult to find one date for parents to agree on but perhaps you could do one of the following in your own time? If you are able to help out or know someone who can please let me know. Can you help with;

Clean up of school trees behind school play equipment—they need a spruce & removal.

Replanting of school planter boxes around the school .

Painting of our school games lines (we have the paint from purchases from SRC 2013).

Erecting the P & F sail which was purchased several years ago.

Covering library and school work books

Good Luck to Jack, Jacob (Rugby League), Michael & Connor (Soccer) in the WF Sports Trials this Friday!

Enjoy your week.! Renee Matheson 31 Canteen
