What is SecuSUITE for Enterprise?

SecuSUITE for Enterprise is a solution that provides secure voice communication and text messaging. SecuSUITE for Enterprise provides end-to-end encryption for phone calls between SecuSUITE users to protect them against electronic eavesdropping. To use SecuSUITE in an organization, users install the SecuSUITE app on their devices, and administrators use the administration portal to manage the user accounts in the organization.

Installing the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app

Before you can use the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app, your administrator must create an account for you. When your account is created, you receive an email that contains the activation code that you need to register the app on your device and links to download and install the app.

Steps to set up the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app

When you set up the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app, you perform the following actions: 1. Download and install the app. 2. Set a password for the app. 3. Enter the activation code that you received in the invitation email. 4. Enter the validation code that you received in a text message.

Install the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app

When your administrator creates your SecuSUITE for Enterprise account, you receive an email that contains the activation code that you need to register the app on your device and links to download and install the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app. 

For Android and iOS devices: Follow the link to the app storefront for your device type to install the app.

For BlackBerry 10 devices: Your BES administrator must push the app to your device. You can install it using BlackBerry World for Work.

1. Verify the app permissions. Tap Install. Open the app. 2. Read the Addendum. Tap I agree to the terms of the SecuSUITE Addendum. Tap I Agree. 3. In the Set new password field, create a password for the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app. The password is used to protect the key store of the app. You enter the password only after the device restarts or if the app is inactive for a long period. The password must be at least nine characters, and it must contain at least one uppercase letter, lowercase letter, and number. Note: On BlackBerry 10 devices, you don’t need to set a password for the app. 4. In the Confirm new password field, type the password again. Tap Confirm. After you finish: Register the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app.

Register the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app

After you install the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app, you must register the app on the SecuSUITE for Enterprise server. To register, you need the activation code that you received in the email from your SecuSUITE for Enterprise administrator and the validation code that you receive in a text message after the installation. After you register the app, you can make end-to-end encrypted phone calls and send secure text messages to other SecuSUITE for Enterprise users. 1. Open the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app. The Registration screen opens. 2. In the Activation code field, enter the activation code. Tap Next. 3. In the Info pop-up, tap OK. The validation code is sent to you in a text message. Note: If there is an insufficient mobile network connection, the registration might stop and display an error message on the device. Tap OK to clear the error message and retry the activation using the same activation code. If possible, connect to a WiFi network before you retry the activation. 4. In the Validation code field, enter the validation code that you received in the text message. 5. The SecuSUITE for Enterprise app opens and displays the Secure Contacts list. Because you haven’t made any secure calls, the list is empty. Tap Contacts to access your device’s contacts or tap the menu icon to open the keyboard. On BlackBerry 10 devices, swipe down from the top of the screen to see the Contacts tab.

Using the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app

The SecuSUITE for Enterprise app doesn’t affect the native phone app on your device. You can make and receive unsecured phone calls using the native phone app. The SecuSUITE for Enterprise app integrates with the native apps on your device in the following ways: 

Mobile phone number: The SecuSUITE for Enterprise app uses the mobile phone number on the device. If you make a call with the app, the callee sees the mobile phone number in the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app on their device. When a SecuSUITE for Enterprise app user calls you, they use the mobile phone number of your device.

Contacts: The SecuSUITE for Enterprise app displays the contacts that are stored on your device. You can define contacts as secure contacts. Secure contacts must be SecuSUITE for Enterprise app users. You can make secure calls and send secure text messages to secure contacts only. After you make the first secure call to a contact who uses the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app, you can save them as a secure contact.

On BlackBerry 10 devices, the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app is integrated with the phone app. Secure calls can be shown in the phone call log and started from there. You can configure the phone app to use SecuSUITE by default for your voice communication. For more information, see “Using the SecuSUITE for Enterpise app on BlackBerry 10 devices.”

Make a secure call using the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app 1. Open the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app. 2. In the start screen, tap Contacts. The contacts that are already saved on your device are displayed. 3. Tap the contact that you want to call. 4. Tap the phone number of the contact. If the contact is also a SecuSUITE for Enterprise user, an end-to-end encrypted connection is established. When the secure connection starts to establish, a lock icon appears on the screen. If a question mark is displayed beside the contact, you have not saved the contact as a secure contact previously. You can also use the DialPad in the app to type a phone number manually. Note: You can make end-to-end encrypted calls only with other SecuSUITE for Enterprise app users. If the contact isn’t a SecuSUITE for Enterprise user, the connection is cancelled with the message “The number is not reachable via SecuSUITE.”

When you end the call, save the contact as a secure contact to add them to your list of secure contacts.

Receiving secure calls using the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app

To receive a secure call using the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app, the app must be running on your device. After you open the app for the first time, it continues to run in the background. When you restart your device, the device opens automatically and prompts you to sign in using your password. Secure calls require a sufficient wireless network connection. If a “not connected” error message is displayed, you can close the app and open it again or you can use a Wi-Fi connection if one is available.

Receiving incoming calls while you are already on a call

If you receive a call while you are already on a call, the following occurs: 

If the call is a secure call and you are on an unsecured call, the caller hears a busy signal. A message appears on screen to notify you of the call. When you end the unsecured call, you can see who tried to call you. You can turn off missed call notifications in the app settings.

If you are in a secure call and the new call is also a secure call, the caller hears a busy signal and there is no notification about the missed call.

If you are on a secure call and the new call is an unsecured call, a message appears on screen to notify you of the call. You can accept or decline the new call. If you accept the new call, the secure call automatically ends.

Answer a secure call 1. To answer a secure call, touch and hold the SecuSUITE icon in the middle of the screen and slide your finger to the right. On BlackBerry 10 devices, a SecuSUITE call looks like a usual call, but it is marked by an orange bar at the top of the screen. Answer it as usual. 2. If the caller was not saved as a secure contact previously, perform the following actions after the call has ended: - To save the caller as a secure contact, tap Yes. - If the caller is not in your contact list, on the Save Secure Contact screen, enter the contact’s first and last name. Tap Save.

Using the SecuSUITE for Enterprise app on BlackBerry 10 devices The SecuSUITE for Enterprise app is embedded in the BlackBerry 10 OS. You can open the app to use it, but you can also start secure calls by selecting the secure line or tapping a secure call in the phone call log. Secure calls are marked by an orange bar at the top of the screen.

To add the secure number to an existing unsecure contact entry, you can tap the Contacts tab and select the contact. To save this secure number as new contact, you can tap . The contact is saved as a secure contact.
