“Capirotada” Lent begins this Wednesday Ash Wednesday is this coming Wednesday and we will be distributing ashes all day long. There will be Masses and prayer services scheduled fairly regularly through the day. The schedules are here in the bulletin and on the website. I want to highlight the Mass that we will have at 12 noon in English for our English speakers.

La Cuaresma comienza este miércoles El Miércoles de Ceniza es este miércoles y habrá distribución de cenizas durante todo el día. Habrá misas y servicios de oración programados con bastante frecuencia durante todo el día. Los horarios están aquí en el boletín y en la página web. Quiero destacar que la misa que tendremos al mediodía es en inglés para nuestras personas de habla inglesa.

Lenten activities I think the most important thing that a person can do during Lent is to develop a daily prayer routine if that is not a part of his or her life. If you do not pray every day (by that I mean not just prayers asking for help periodically during the day, but a time set aside to spend time with God), please make that your special Lent activity this Lent. We will have a booklet available for you to help with that centering on mercy. You can pick it up at the office all week or next Sunday. But, however you choose to pray, make sure that you spend some time focusing your attention on how Jesus brings God the Father’s love personally to you. It was His mission to let us know how much the Father loves us and then to help us share that love with others. Let Him speak to you in your prayer about the Father’s love for you!

Actividades de Cuaresma Creo que la cosa más importante que una persona puede hacer durante la Cuaresma es desarrollar una rutina de oración diaria si aún no lo hace. Si usted no ora todos los días (me refiero no sólo a las oraciones para pedir ayuda periódicamente durante el día, sino que un horario destinado a pasar tiempo con Dios), por favor haga que esa su actividad cuaresmal especial esta Cuaresma. Tendremos un folleto disponible para que le ayude con esto, centrado en la misericordia. Puede recogerlo en la oficina toda la semana o el próximo domingo. Pero, a pesar de cómo decida orar, asegúrese de pasar algún tiempo centrando su atención en cómo Jesús trae el amor de Dios Padre personalmente a usted. Era Su misión el hacernos saber lo mucho que el Padre nos ama y luego el ayudar a compartir ese amor con otros. ¡Permita que la hable a usted en sus oraciones sobre el amor del Padre hacia usted!

The Bishop’s Appeal At all the Masses today, I will be speaking about the Bishop’s Appeal and the weekly collection. If you are not able to be with us today, there are materials to help both these areas in the office. The recommendation I make to people is that they give the Bishop’s Appeal a half-day or whole day’s wages and to the parish each week one hour’s wages. You may find this too much or too little and so do, my most basic recommendation is that you do whatever God guides you to do according to your many responsibilities.

El Llamado del Obispo En todas las Misas de hoy, hablaré sobre el Llamado del Obispo y la colecta semanal. Si no nos puede acompañar hoy, hay materiales en la oficina para ayudar en estas dos áreas. La recomendación que hago a la gente es que aporten al Llamado del Obispo un salario de un día entero o de medio día y a la parroquia cada semana lo que gana en una hora. Es posible que le se le haga demasiado o muy poco, mi recomendación más básica es que hagan lo que Dios les guía a hacer de acuerdo a sus muchas responsabilidades.

January 31st began a week of activities celebrating Catholic Schools Week! Sunday, we started with Education Sunday with an Open House following Mass into the afternoon. Despite the gift of rain and wind, our turnout was fantastic. Thank you for celebrating with us. On Monday we had a special appreciation breakfast with those volunteers who help us at our school in many different ways

We are beginning a Vocation Circle! This Circle is to help young adults to listen to the call of God in their lives. It is for men and women who are discerning the direction of God in their lives: to marry, to become priests or nuns, to serve God in other capacities. We just ask that the young men and women be serious about their love for God and that they be open to whatever vocation God may be calling them. We will start meeting in two weeks. Interested? Call Fr. John at the office.

Wednesday was recognition day for our students who had a B average 2nd quarter. Then, Thursday was the day we displayed the many talents of our students at our annual talent show. Our week ended with Liturgy at South Campus for the whole school community. In between all of this, individual class- FREE CHILDCARE ON SUNDAYS Drop off your 3-6 year olds at the rooms worked on "What it Meant Being in a Catholic School."
