Safety Warnings and Precautions WARNING: When using winch, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment. Read all instructions before using this tool! 1.

Always wear ANSI approved impact safety goggles when operating the winch.

2.

Do not exceed winch load weight capacity (see specifications).

3.

Be certain winch is properly bolted to a truck bed that can hold the winch load.

4.

Always use proper couplings when connecting winch cable hook to load cable or rope.

5.

Do not overload the winch. Stay within the capacity levels shown in the specifications.

6.

Do not use inappropriate attachments to extend the length of the winch cable.

7.

Never lift people or hoist loads over people.

8.

Never come between the winch and the load when operating.

9.

Do not apply load to winch when cable is fully extended. Keep at least 4 full turns of cable on the reel.

10. After moving an item with the winch, secure the item. Do not rely on the winch to hold it for an extended period. The winch does not have a locking key. 11. Examine winch before using. Components may be affected by exposure to chemicals, salts, and rust. 12. Never fully extend cable while pulling a load. Keep 4 complete turns of cable around the winch spool. 13. Never operate winch if cable shows any signs of weakening, is knotted or kinked. 14. Never fully extend the cable while under load. REV 08g

15. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool. Approved accessories are available from Harbor Freight Tools. 16. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry when operating. Wear protective hair covering to protect long hair. Uncovered long hair can get caught in moving parts. 17. Always set pickup truck parking brake and block tires when using lift. Vehicles with automatic transmissions should be left in “park.” Manual transmissions should be left in gear. Never attempt to lift something while the vehicle is moving. 18. Do not operate tool if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the tool.

Unpacking Open box and examine components. Look for any loose parts in the packing material before discarding. If any are found, try and find the part on the parts list or on the exploded view of the lift, and reinstall the part. If any part of the machine is missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number on the front cover as soon as possible.

Assembly While assembling the truck lift, refer to the Assembly Parts Illustration on the last page. 1.

Place the Base (01) in the location on the truck bed where it is to be secured. This flat location must be able to support the lift with a 1000 lb. load. (On most trucks, a desirable position is just behind the wheel so that the boom may be stored over the wheel well.)

2.

Using a pencil, mark through the mounting holes in the lift base (01) to mark drill holes.

3.

Using a power drill and appropriate drill bit size, drill holes through truck bed.

4.

Place the bolts (22) through the Base and into the truck bed holes.

5.

Place each Angle Steel (11) plate under the truck bed, over the protruding bolts (22), and secure with the washers (23), spring washers (24), and finally the nuts (25), as shown in the Assembly Parts Illustration. Tighten nuts (25) securely.

6.

Place the Post (02) upper lift assembly onto the Base (01). Insert Lock Pin (20).

Warning: The Lift has four extension settings for the Extendible Boom. Each setting has a weight limit that is clearly marked on the Boom. Do not exceed these weight limits as it may cause damage to the Pick Up Truck Lift and/or cause bodily injury.

Operation 1.

Release the Lock Pin (20) located on the Post (02), and swivel the Post so that the Boom (04) is pointing towards the object to be lifted.

2.

Position the Hook and Steel Cable (10) over the article to be moved by adjusting and locking the Extendible Boom (07) in place using the Boom Extendible Pin (08).

Do not exceed the weight limits of the lift (See specification table).

3.

Hook around the article so that its weight is centered.

4.

Place the slotted end of the Jack Handle (21) over the Jack release valve, and close it by turning it in a clockwise direction.

5.

Insert the Jack Handle into its connector and lift the Boom by pumping the handle in an up and down motion.

6.

When the article has been lifted to the desired height, it may be moved over the truck bed by slowly swiveling the Post (02) until the article is directly over the truck bed.

Do not attempt to extend the Boom further while the article is still attached. If the article needs to be moved further out, lower it, then adjust the Boom and relift it. 7.

Lower the article onto the truck bed by using the Jack Handle (21) to slowly turn the pump release valve in a counterclockwise direction.

8.

Reverse previous steps to remove article from truck bed.

9.

Secure boom over truck wheel well using the Lock Pin (20).
