PERSONAL PORTFOLIO 1.

Purpose of the Portfolio: To begin a process of identifying and cataloguing personal development and growth in the areas of character, skills, knowledge and work/ministry experience. 1. To intentionally receive input and feedback from various sources in order to gain selfawareness and be able to set goals for further personal development. 2. To provide a lasting record of data related to personal growth and ministry/work experience that will be helpful in the job search process. 3. To facilitate the integration of personal disciplines and course content during your college experience. 4. To provide a record of academic work that reflects student learning at SPC. During the program of studies, course work that shows evidence of originality, creativity, improved writing ability and critical reflective thinking is collected.

Development of the Portfolio: This is the responsibility of the student. Each semester, you should add to the portfolio the items listed under #3 below. You may include other pertinent information of significance to you, including important achievements and experiences in life before coming to college. It is important to maintain and keep the portfolio up-to-date throughout your college experience, as it will serve you well when applying for credentials and ministry positions. We trust this portfolio will facilitate a life-long commitment to intentional growth.

Portfolio Items for Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors: 1. Personal Mission Statement – formulated in some classes. 2. Personal Testimony – a clear presentation of how you received Jesus and the difference He has made in your life [cf. Religious Conversion]. 3. Previous Ministry Experience Inventory – to help you develop your resume and determine your objectives for ministry experiences during your college years. 4. Sophomore Formation Assessment – completed with program director at the end of the sophomore year. 5. Spiritual Gift/Personality Tests – completed in some courses. 6. Student Ministries – required self-evaluation, optional inclusion of supervisor reports. 2

Credential Information - required only if you are applying for credentials (including a list of the churches you have attended for the past five years); {copy of Doctrinal Views Exam]. 9. Resume - a selected summary of significant facts about you: travels, technology skills, extracurricular activities/hobbies, special artifacts or projects, etc. 10. Reference Letters – from employers for on/off campus work, during the school year and/or summer. 11. Transcript(s) - a report of your grades per semester from Summit Pacific College. 12. Academic Term Paper(s) - your choice of one or more from each year. 13. Pictures – your choice of pictures of your ministry involvements. 14. Critical Reflection on your Personal Learning Achievement: Please be prepared to give a brief synopsis of your own perspectives on the following areas of growth. Each area could be summarized with a few paragraphs that provide evidence of development from the time you entered SPC up to your graduation. This could also be presented in an essay format that addresses each of these areas in a separate section. Academic: Your transcript will provide grades and your GPA. Some of your best course papers from each year should be retained. Note your views on examinations and indicate your favorite kind of assessment [essay; reading reports; exams; projects, etc.]. Doctrinal: Your personal beliefs regarding Evangelical doctrines should be recorded. This may include your credential examination or denominational doctrinal statement. Spiritual: This is a reflective narrative of your spiritual pilgrimage during your time at SPC. Student Ministry: Summarize your Student Ministry involvement and indicate what areas of service you enjoy the most. Note some of the key learning elements. Social: Provide an overview of your social development and relational growth during your years at SPC. Employment: Be prepared to give evidence on why you should be hired for the ministry/job that you desire to apply for. Include an updated resume.

Student Ministries Evaluation - by the student ministry group leader and/or ministry supervisor [this may be a written summary for your records]

Internship Evaluation - by your Program Director/Advisor Annual Interview - with your Program Director [Your program director will try to be in contact with you regarding Portfolio and learning matters throughout your studies].

 

Graduation Exit interview- with the President Graduation Audit-with the Registrar

Submission of the portfolio in hard copy or electronic form is expected during your last semester of studies at SPC—preferably in March. 5
