They just can’t stop talking about this!

« Invigorating and full of wit» by Classica , September 2012 The venues of Europe and some adjacent countries have known for some time that success won the band Pink Turtle at each of its concerts. The way it works is now known: basically reorchestrate crooner style of the 1950s and 1960s pop and rock hits of the following years. The result is invigorating and full of wit. But all this would not convince on the long run if the arrangements were not flawless, if the instrumental mastery of all was not perfect. With this third CD on the market what strikes first is that the creativity is fully delineated, the humorous references extremely precise. It is obviously possible to choose another path, but one thing is certain: this one works pretty darn well and does not cause sadness. « … It borders on the masterpiece ..."» by Jazz Magazine, September 2012 […] the closeness Patrick Bacqueville’s voice to that of Mark Knopfler’s on Sultans of Swing is disconcerting and his boogie style version of Billy Preston’s Nothing from Nothing is irresistible. The stride which supports Fleetwood Mac’s Do not Stop, the New Orleans-groove adapted to You're the One That I Want from the movie Grease, the diversion in jazz ballad style of The Kinks’s You Really Got Me, all sprinkled with fine references are pure treats. But we’re going on higher grounds with the big band version of Bob Marley’s Get Up Stand Up and we border on the masterpiece with A Hard Day's Night Ellingtonalized by Michel Bonnet, where John Lennon seems to reach out to Bubber Miley andTricky Sam.

"… fanciful, good and smart arrangements... " by Le Monde "After Pop in Swing, in 2007, the septet Pink Turtle is Back Again with a cover album of pop songs in the same vein, better than the previous one. The shift from the originals gives beautiful fantasies, the arrangements are good and smart and the winks do not turn into a farce. "

"... very smart and effective... Proficient and fun " by Le Journal de Montréal "A whole neo-swing jazz and lounge band, an expanded and brassy combo, which excels with taste and wit in the pastiche of covers. Many great standards like Money, Money, Money, Satisfaction, Roxanne, Black Magic Woman, Billy Jean, Nights in White Satin, Hey Jude, etc.. revisited, diverted and cooked with salsa, mambo and cool jazz in a very smart and effective way without altering the original version or offending the composers. Proficient and fun ..." "Pretty darn effective"by So Jazz "…The seven Pink Turtle companions carry on their simple but devilishly effective concept by delivering a healthy dose of fun and carefree humour, diverting many hits with lightness and swing..."

"Every piece is to be listened again and again ... A must have !" by Jazz Hot "... In a word, let it be said, this batch of '60s pop and beyond is just as good as the previous one [...] just devour it greedily from beginning to end with your ears wide open. A rare delight today! ... Every piece is to be listened again and again... But above all, do even better: go see them live. Do not miss them under any circumstances. Humour, unbridled swing, plus generosity all along enhanced by a genuine pleasure to play together ... A must have ! " "Fantastic ! " by All About Jazz (New York) "...the new CD Pink Turtle, which I think is FANTASTIC ! Just goes to show - you can jazz up anything !... "

"Pink Turtle continues to accumulate public triumphs ..." by Classica "Since their debut album Pop in Swing, Pink Turtle continues to accumulate public triumph tour after tour. It is almost popular. Why this fascination, this contagious joy? Because it gives new life to hits from the 1970s by reinterpreting them the way artists or groups who experienced glory years before the pop era. To make credible this renaissance and get consecration, the musicians had to be excellent. They are, like their guests, such as Didier Lockwood, Jean-Jacques Milteau or André Minvielle. They also had to genuinely love these hits of pop music and rock, which they obviously do. Therefore, if you do not to rush …. you must be an unrepentant grumpy old thing ... " "Pranks and contagious enjoyment ... what a treat!" by La République du Centre "... Exciting concert where seven Pink Turtle fellows revisit, a la mode jazz, with wit and ruthless proficiency the pop hits of the last thirty years. Roxanne, Love is all, Highway to Hell, Venus, or We Are the Champions (!) follow one upon the other with pranks and contagious enjoyment. When Christophe Davot plays Lucky Peterson right in the audience, what a treat! ... " A highly recommended album, like the previous one" by Citizen Jazz "... If the approach is deliberately humorous, Pink Turtle does not mean sacrificing an undeniable musical expertise: vocal and instrumental arrangements are just as sophisticated and effective, in the most dynamic pieces as songs performed in a more laid back tempo. A highly recommended album, like the previous one ". "We cannot help but believe our ears" by Le Républicain Lorrain "... All in all, and vice versa, this could be the motto of Pink Turtle. This septet of impeccable musicians is able to turn any pop tune into, the choice is yours, salsa, bossa-nova, swing or New Orleans. We cannot help but believe our ears..." "A real success!" by Jazz Magazine "... The pop classics take on new colours, wit and necessary distance are never absent from the project. A real success!" "Seven talented musicians for a real treat" by Le Figaroscope "This group is a real jukebox that can serve us with great wit pop in a jazz plate, Paul Simon, AC / DC, the Bee Gees ... Seven talented musicians for a real treat." " The audience was charmed by the music, the energy and presence of the band " by Jazz

Classique

"Festival of Ascona where Pink Turtle gave four concerts ... the American musicians present with whom I talked a little, just like the young people who crowded the front stage, knew the originals and were immediately charmed by the music, the energy and presence of the band ... The arrangements have many reminiscences of Basie, Kirby, Prima or Calloway. Their playing is perfect. What expertise! What a job! " "Inventive reworkings of rock classics" par Blues Matters (GB) "The seven guys in this swing-blues/jazz outfit from France certainly know their stuff.... These guys raise a smile with their inventive jump, jive and swing reworkings of rock classics... Next party you have, play this and get people talking – and dancing." " Music is wild and swings " by le Hot Club de France "Music is wild and swings ... Run and listen to Pink Turtle: their performance and music are well put together and you will be surprised at every moment by their tasty melodic treats."
