EXPLORE CREATE & DISC VER SUMMER FUN! Summer Camp 2014 Program Guide YMCA OF METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON

YMCA ANTHONY BOWEN

DEAR PARENTS, Summer just wouldn’t be the same without the discovery and memories of the YMCA’s Day Camp program. For over 100 years, Metropolitan Washington children have come together for a summer of exploring nature, creativity, teamwork, new adventures, healthy living and positive friendships. In 2014, the spirit and tradition of YMCA Summer Camp continues! YMCA Day Camps are like none other. Every day, your child will be welcomed to a physically and emotionally stimulating environment. The activities they take part in will offer positive developmental experiences, bonds with each other and staff, and skill-building suited to their age. No matter the program

you choose, each camp experience incorporates academic skills and physical fitness. Y kids have the opportunity to build self-confidence and independence, while parents have peace of mind knowing their child is in a safe, enriching and fun place. Our counselors and programs have your child’s best interest in mind. And at the YMCA, he/ she is sure to have the most rewarding summer yet. Best wishes,

Angie L. Reese-Hawkins President and CEO YMCA of Metropolitan Washington

Getting Fit For Life We’re passionate about inspiring healthier habits that kids carry through life – and so are our partners! Build Our Kids’ Success (BOKS) is an initiative of the Reebok Foundation with the mission to give kids a body and brain boost. The YMCA has partnered with BOKS to provide before-care activities combining play, team games, physical activity and short talks on nutrition, just like the Y’s PHD program. The Y’s PHD program will be offered in camp after care to keep kids engaged and energized all day long.

Our Extended Day program offers quality care for your child before and after the camp day. We offer this convenient service at a variety of locations to complement our camp programs. Activities may include sports, arts and crafts and more!

For More Information Refer to the Parent Handbook, call the YMCA branch or visit www.ymcadc.org for more information about the following: • Financial assistance • Accommodations for special needs children • Family nights • Withdrawals, transfers, refunds and credits • What children should bring to camp
