One great night of comedy featuring three exclusive brand new shows from some of Northern Ireland’s hottest stand ups. Headline act, Terry McHugh, presents his amazing new Edinburgh show ‘Stand Up By Me’. In Terry’s short years of stand up he’s amassed an amazing amount of gigs and has recently been support act for Patrick Kielty on his ‘Home’ tour. A natural born story teller and disgruntled Belfast man transposed to Omagh, there’s nothing he can’t turn a funny eye to. Whether it’s from accidentally getting his tweets read out in Stormont to becoming the best extra ever on Game of Thrones, Terry’s show is a must. Rory McSwiggans’ parents and teachers told him it was rude to brag about giving money to charity. But Rory grew up to find that nobody else, especially people born after 1987, thought or acted in this way. You may be able to relate. Comedian of Culture 2013, Bobby Best returns with his second full length show ‘Critical Condition’. The show is a state of the union address about Bobby’s impending fatherhood and all of the craziness that it entails. Suitable for over 18s.

£10.00, concession £8.00

Actor, playwright, director, Leitrim man, Seamus O’Rourke, has become well known in the theatre world for tackling serious contemporary social issues through humour and with the help of some very quirky but recognisable rural Irish characters like Padraig Potts, the Trappe Family or Victor Maguire. The bold Victor Maguire is a crude, vulgar, abrupt, un-PC Cavan farmer who gets a surprise one Friday morning. Väsen Friday 6 November 8pm £12.00, concession £10.00 They love Väsen so much in Bloomington, Indiana, that they’ve named a street after them. Their music is a force of nature, both delicate and intensively energetic, it is the perfect marriage of three instrumental ‘voices’, the nyckelharpa, the viola and an alternatively tuned 12-string guitar. Olov Johansson’s nyckelharpa is central to the group. Unique to Sweden, its combination of fiddle-style bowing, keys and strings, produces a singing sound like no other instrument. Johansson and violist Mikael Marin met as teenagers in 1980 and quickly began to develop a musical kinship. When they met guitarist Roger Tallroth in 1989, they found their ideal rhythmical partner, creating music that was rooted in tradition, yet remarkably new. The rest is history (and geography) as the trio have spent 25 years touring worldwide, winning fans wherever they go. Brilliant musicianship, fleetfingered invention, and constant surprise, the Nordic trio are an absolute pleasure to witness. BOOKING: Phone (028) 66 325440 Online www.ardhowentheatre.com

Borderline Players presents

Play On By Rick Abbott Directed by Siobhan O’Brien

Thursday, Friday 19, 20 November 8pm £10.00, concession £9.00

Borderline Players returns to The Ardhowen stage with the Rick Abbott farce, ‘Play On’. This play within a play comedy follows an amateur dramatics society as they prepare for their annual drama, suitably titled ‘Murder Most Foul’. Act 1 is set just 3 nights before ‘Murder Most Foul’ debuts, and we are introduced to the cast of the melodrama, a dysfunctional bunch of amateur performers where tensions between members are simmering. The director is reaching his wits end as the set remains unfinished, cast members are still learning their lines, the backstage crew interrupt the rehearsals at every turn, and the novice writer makes sweeping plot changes on a daily basis. Pandemonium ensues during Act 2 as the ‘Murder Most Foul’ cast attempt a dress-rehearsal just 24 hours before the opening night. As the play edges ever closer and a final version of the script still in development it’s anyone’s guess as to whether the show will go ahead. Act 3 sees the opening night performance of ‘Murder Most Foul’ and with stress levels at an all time high for both the cast and crew it is safe to say that the drama won’t just go according to plan… ‘Play On’ is a lively farce featuring a well known cast and for anyone who has ever been involved in amateur dramatics it is sure to open a mixed bag of emotions.

Robert Mizzell in Concert Wednesday 30 December 8pm All seats £20.00

We are delighted to have Robert Mizzell and his band The Country Kings back for another energy filled show. Louisiana born, Robert has made Ireland his home for over a decade and is now one of the top country artists in Ireland, his popularity spreading into Europe and to such distant territories as Australia. Among Robert’s most requested songs are ‘Say You Love Me’, ‘Thanks A Lot’, ‘Who’s Gonna Dance With Sally Ann’, and ‘Mama Courtney’ but songs like ‘Dance With My Father’ and ‘Home’ exemplify Robert’s talent as an interpreter of songs. They come from a different genre but Robert instinctively imbues them with a country feel.
