Three years ago Abdul’s eyesight began to fade and he eventually went blind. As a tailor, he could not work or support his family. At a Seva eye camp in rural West Bengal, India he was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. He then had surgery that restored his vision. That was just the beginning of his incredible story. He wanted to help others so when he returned home he shared his joy at regaining his sight. Amazingly, Abdul gathered 18 people from his community and brought them to a Seva-supported eye hospital so that his friends could also have their sight restored. Worldwide 285 million people can’t see clearly. If they were their own country, they would be the 4th largest nation in the world.
