Applications for small-scale LNG plants Common applications for LNG • Feasible alternative for high pressure pipelines –containerizer plant design - transportable by truck, train and ship. • Peak load coverage provided by storage and regasification units – seasonal peak loads or peak loads for industrial processes are met. • Decentralized supply of natural gas for industrial plants and small end users - with use of satellite terminals.

• Filling stations for Motor Vehicles : - LCNG Fuel Supply - filling stations for vehicles • Electricity generation - combined heat and power (CHP) generation plants for industry 10

LNG | 2014 | www.cryotec.de

Application for small-scale LNG plants in Japan Combined pipeline and LNG Satellite station system by Japex • LNG from central LNG terminals on the coast or from own source in Yufutsu – LNG pipeline system installed to serve big cities (up to 75km) – Satellite stations will be installed to serve a radius of 250 – 300km – The distribution area can be increased up to 370km if distribution by truck and train in used. (10t container storage) –

Containers would be stored at the satellite station and returned to the terminal once empty.

– Yufutsu – majority of the natural gas will be deliverd by pipeline to next city, rest of the natural gas will be liquefacted ( plant for 150 t LNG/d, storage capacity 1,000t LNG) 11

LNG | 2014 | www.cryotec.de

Application for small-scale LNG plants in Norway LNG Satellite station system by Gasnor • Satellite station installed on the coast near central LNG terminals • LNG delivered via ship (1,100m³) and tranported onshore by truck to multiple satellite stations

• Satellite stations are used for the regasification of the LNG • Example: Regasification for Hydro Aluminium and some other industrial consumers • Size: 3,000 kg/h natural gas • 3 x storage of 500m³ • Including vaporizer system (ambient air vaporizer, water bath evaporator and electrical heater)
