Synopsis: UNFPA Bangladesh Country Office is based in Dhaka, with project offices located in several districts throughout the country. Synopsis UNFPA office is seeking an IT specialist to help upgrade its functions (program and operations) and coordinate with the other UN agencies in the process of relocating in a new UN house. The office opened more than twenty five ago. It operated throughout under the supervision of UNDP representative in Gabon and the UNFPA representative in Congo Brazzaville. Following an agreement between UNFPA Headquarter and the Government in 2013, the office was upgraded to a full representation. A new representative joined in January, 2015. Additional staff are being recruited in program as well as in operations. IT is a crucial function at this stage of setting up a new office. Specific responsibilities include provide insights to the work of the operations teams with emphasis on maintaining accounting and finance systems, create and maintain data base, LAN, set up video conferencing systems, coordinate with IT officers of other agencies, UNFPA regional office and headquarter; encourage innovative use of IT, write up reports and other related administrative documents, Terms of Reference of studies and other deliverable under his/her responsibility.

Synopsis The JPO contributes to the work of the Program Team of the UNFPA Gabon Country Office to ensure that the country program is able to mobilize resources in or outside the country. He assists the team in the current transition phase that will see the country moving from service delivery to policy formulation and dialogue and advocacy. Even though Gabon is described as a high middle income country, the social indicators are rather typical of many African countries: high maternal mortality rate, high level of HIV prevalence, etc. In the last six months the country has been facing serious challenges, among others the drastic drop in oil price and the ever increased social demands with endless strikes. It has become vital for the program to find other sources of income. The recruitment of a JPO is part of the urgent need to develop the resource mobilization capacity of the program. Specific responsibilities include assisting in mapping potential donors in public, private sectors and foundations, writing proposals, in advocacy and PR to highlight UNFPA mandates and visibility.

Synopsis: Within the context of UNFPA’s fourth Country Programme of cooperation with the South African Government, the JPO will work on implementation of UNFPA’s global strategies as they relate to young people in the policy and programme context of South Africa. The JPO will support on-going work on evidence-based advocacy, policy development, accountability as it relates to the implementation of comprehensive sexuality education for both in and out-of-school adolescents as well as provision of quality sexual and reproductive health services, active participation and youth leadership. The JPO will support the effective implementation of multi-sectoral integrated programmes and the mainstreaming of adolescent and youth in related sector policies and programmes both at the national level and in 8 focus districts in Kwazulu Natal (KZN) and Eastern Cape (EC) provinces. The JPO will work closely with the team of National Programme Officers in the Pretoria office and with smaller UNFPA teams in KZN and EC. Further, the JPO will collaborate with UN and significant NGO partners, to ensure collaborative, mutually reinforcing and consistent approaches to supporting the government efforts for strengthening adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health including working substantially on convening and supporting the workplan of the South Africa UN Joint Initiative on Youth Development. Synopsis: The Geneva Office functions include maintaining UNFPA relations with United Nations and other relevant agencies and organizations based in Europe, Inter-parliamentary Union, national and international NGOs, academic and research institutes, and private sector entities; maintaining and strengthening relations with media as part of UNFPA’s advocacy efforts in Europe. The office supports the resource mobilization activities of the Information, Executive Board and Resource Mobilisation Division at headquarters in New York and provides support to UNFPA’s resource mobilization activities in European countries. The External Relations Officer will be fully integrated into the office’s activities, which will mean a very challenging and demanding environment, but with the benefits of being fully involved in and informed on major programme issues. Synopsis: The JPO will be under the immediate supervision and guidance of the GBV AoR Coordinator. The JPO Focal Point at the UNFPA Headquarters will be advising the JPO for career development and administrative related issues. She/he is a member of the GBV AoR Global Team and will be housed in the UNFPA Geneva office.
