INTRODUCTION

The ALSA National Conference is ‘THE Retail Liquor Industry Benchmark’ and is considered a must attend event for liquor retailers – owners, managers and staff. The 20th Annual ALSA National Conference will be held for the first time in Hobart, Tasmania – at the iconic Wrest Point. In no other forum will you get the opportunity to meet face to face with people from every facet of the Retail Liquor Industry – fellow liquor retailers, banner groups, wholesalers, suppliers and manufacturers and key liquor industry stakeholders from right across Australia – there is simply no other event like it, and an opportunity too good to miss! Guest speakers include business experts, key liquor industry experts and suppliers, and well known celebrities and fellow liquor retailers. All come together to share their wealth of knowledge and reveal strategies to help grow business and profits, along with forums to discuss current and future challenges facing the industry.

I have said for some time now, we need to have ‘more skin in the game’. To continue to be successful, we need to have access to the latest information, trends and ideas to assist us in making the best business decisions. You are unlikely to succeed in today’s business environment if you merely continue doing things the way you always have. Perhaps one of the greatest challenges we face in business is how much time we allow ourselves to work ‘on’ our business. Take the time to invest in your business – hear, gain and learn, and enjoy a unique ‘tastes of Tassie’ experience at the 2013 ALSA National Conference in Hobart!

Giuseppe Minissale ALSA President

What others say about the ALSA Conference... This conference is THE industry personal and business development conference. It’s the conference you cannot afford to miss if you wish to improve the performance of your packaged liquor business. It will assist you to lift sales, become more profitable and establish valuable networking opportunities. Jos De Bruin, CEO Master Grocers Australia

I wanted to thank you for the fantastic time our group had at the ALSA Conference. We had not attended before and were unsure as to what to expect. The sessions were all thought provoking and anything that challenges you to do it better has be good for everyone. The food and the entertainment was spectacular and the accommodation was breathtaking. Once again many thanks & well done! Jodie Gration Kings LiquorWorks, VIC

I first went to an ALSA Conference in 2001 after my wife and I had purchased a liquor store and we had no prior industry experience. We gained valuable insight into the liquor industry and made excellent contact with other store owners and suppliers. We have attended every conference since. In such a competitive industry experiencing increasing political intervention, it is essential to attend the annual ALSA Conference to stay abreast of issues that affect my business.

Thanks for a really enjoyable conference. Highlights for me were having the opportunity to share the opportunity for convenience retailing in the off-premise for the ALSA members, and spending time with liquor retailers and other suppliers to understand more about how to provide more information to help grow and differentiate their businesses. Simon Elsby, National Category Manager Coca Cola Amatil
