FROM THE PRESIDENT February 2014
Dear Friends of Miege, This truly has been “Another Banner Year.” Since 1958, we, at Bishop Miege High School, have been blessed by the many individuals who support the mission of our school. As we begin 2014, I look back on this past year with immense pride and gratitude to be united with such a wonderful community.
DR. JOE PASSANTINO
“The gifts of prayers, time and donations have provided the current students a beautiful facility, outstanding faculty members and an exceptional, faithfilled education.”
The gifts of prayers, time and resources have provided the current students a beautiful facility, outstanding faculty members and an exceptional faith-filled education. The heartfelt generosity from alumni, parents, past parents and friends is what makes our community unique and helps secure a bright future for the young people we serve. You will discover the events in this Annual Report were the result of our community working together for the ongoing success of Bishop Miege. With the help of many, we are able to overcome economic challenges and continue to provide our students with the very best Catholic education. We are appreciative of what your support has allowed us to accomplish and look with anticipation to what the future holds. As always, you are a welcome guest here at Miege and encouraged to visit often. With gratitude and prayers,
Dr. Joe Passantino President
2012-2013

The Bishop Miege Foundation was created in 1992 as a financial advisory group. Today its purpose has grown to benefit Bishop Miege by assisting the school with fund raising, volunteer activities and advocacy in the community, as well as expert legal and financial counsel. This group is responsible for initiating programs that will provide for the long-term stability of the school, as well as the annual operational funds available to Miege.

MOTHERS’ CLUB
BISHOP MIEGE FOUNDATION DINNER
For 36 years, Mother’s Club has supported the Miege community through social events and activities that bring parents and students together. Each mother of a Miege student is automatically a member of the Mother’s Club. Every mother is encouraged to consider any level of club participation from helping with events to joining the Mother’s Club Board. Some of the Mothers’ Club activities include: • New student welcome picnic • Moms’ Welcome Social • Mother/Son Dance • National Honor Society Induction • Advent Prayer Service and Dinner • Staff Appreciation and Super Mondays • Mother/Daughter Fashion Show • Men of Miege Breakfast • Senior Midnight Breakfast • Baccalaureate Reception
MIEGE ACTIVITIES BOOSTER CLUB
Among the highlights of the Bishop Miege Foundation Dinner on Nov. 10 was the presentation of the Herbert Rome Stewardship Award. The 2012 recipient was Paul Bastasch, who was joined by his family and recognized for his exceptional support of Bishop Miege High School, including procurement and donation of the North Campus in 2008. Also at the Foundation Dinner, Dr. Joe Passantino and Mary Perrini were recognized for their 25 years of service at Bishop Miege. The purpose of the Miege Activities Booster Club is to support student activities at Miege (both athletic and non-athletic). Specifically their goals are to: • Coordinate and support all parent activities • Provide a forum to bring ideas for new parent involvement or activities • Be a sounding board for the school • Facilitate more parent involvement
ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR: GEORGE LUCAS ’51
In addition to the above goals, the MABC sponsors and supports a wide range of activities. Members meet throughout the school year to plan and organize student and parent activities to promote Bishop Miege High School. Some of the club’s projects include the Safe Home program, student mixers, parent socials and the welcome picnic. The monies raised in 2012-2013 helped all of the sports programs, the choir, band, robotics and drama departments. In addition, drums were purchased for the drum line.

The Bishop Miege Alumni of the Year Award is presented to a graduate who has given his or her time, talents and loyalty to enhance Bishop Miege and its traditions. George has been a loyal supporter of just about Annual Auction, Annual Fund and Dream House fundraiser, and is a constant promoter of Bishop Miege to this day. George and his wife Carol have three children, all of whom graduated from Bishop Miege--Andy ’81, Joe ’83 and Amy ’90 Whether he is promoting the school to prospective families or attending a program for our latest effort, Bridge to the Future, George has been and remains always willing to help Bishop Miege High School at a moment’s notice. 7

Bishop Miege got off to a running start with the unique 1st Annual Stag Steeplechase on June 15, 2013. Set on the campus of Bishop Miege High School, all ages enjoyed a morning of racing, physical challenges, food, Cheer and Dance team activities and music. A Kiddie Dash on the turf field for the younger runners followed the 4K obstacle run. More than 100 participants were required to jump hay bales, traverse the creek, navigate through tires and army crawl under netting. This new and challenging event is for all ages while, at the same time, raises funds for the students and Bishop Miege. Save the date for the 2nd Annual Stag Steeplechase, June 21, 2014.

BISHOP MIEGE AUCTION:
CELEBRATING
40 YEARS
Forty years ago, the Miege administration determined it was time to end the annual Carnival for various reasons. Their innovative spirit and enthusiasm brought the 1st auction to the Miege community. The leadership and vision of this unique group set in motion one of the major sources of funding for our students. To this day, the benefits of this event are enduring and the memories everlasting. The 2013 Run for the Roses themed auction was truly a special evening with over $115,000 for technology upgrades raised through our Fund-a-Need and an additional $200,000 for the current students at Bishop Miege.

SCHOLARSHIP
FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
The Senior Class of 1990 initiated an idea for their class gift. They chose to invest money collected from their classmates along with donations from the Student Council to provide scholarships for future students. The senior classes since then have continued donating to the scholarship fund. GRADUATING CLASS DONATION
