Training Focus: Designed as a general introduction to the subject of electropneumatics, the course aims to familiarise delegates with the design, construction and operation of pneumatic components. This includes the interpretation of circuit diagrams and symbols as well as the practical building of control systems.

Synopsis: The course aims to familiarise trainees with the underpinning fundamental physical principles as are applied within electropneumatics whereby electrical switching and sensing devices are used to control the operation of pneumatic valves and actuators. Trainees will develop an understanding of the design, operating principles and applications for the range of components as featured in typical electropneumatics installations including switches, relays, solenoid valves and proximity sensors as used in the electrical control circuit as well as pneumatic actuators, directional control valves, sensors, flow control valves, time delay valves, pressure sequence valves and vacuum generators. This includes understanding the relevant ISO symbols for pneumatic components as well as interpretation and building of electrical and pneumatic circuit diagrams. Practical exercises reinforce the underpinning theory by demonstrating the operation of the featured components in real applications. Furthermore the practical exercises allow delegates to build, modify and test the performance of fundamental electropneumatics circuits to a given functional specification. Maintenance and systematic approaches to fault finding are also featured. A strong emphasis is placed on safety and appropriate working practices throughout the course.

Optional Extras: Customised Training: Please contact Festo to arrange a consultation to discuss how this course or any course may be customised to the specific training requirements of your organisation. E-Training & E-Coaching and Pre Course Preparation as part of the Blended-Learning approach: Without leaving their workplace, large parts of the proposed training programme could be delivered using Festo’s E-Teaching & E-Coaching tools.  From their desks or your company’s training facilities trainees can actively participate in Festo seminars or short duration coaching sessions, using the latest developments in audio-visual and communications technology.  All theoretical subject matter could be delivered as a series of managed online training sessions with Festo then coming to site to undertake the practical work. Post Course - Testing & Evaluation of Competence Gain: To test for competence gain, Festo will work with you to develop suitable, fair and formal test & evalution procedures, tailored to your specific requirements. Such tests typically feature a combination of multiple-choice and written & practical tasks to give meaningful feedback of knowledge, understanding and skills acquired during the programme. Post Course - Delegate Performance Feedback: Testing provdes excellent feedback on a delegate’s learning but has the potential to give a distorted picture of the ability of an individual. To compliment testing, on completion of each module, Festo can provide detailed feedback on a delegate‘s performance including feedback on attitude, enthusiasm & ability as observed during the course as well as recommendations for refresher activities and future additional training.

Accreditation: Candidates successfully completing this programme will be eligible for the following certification: Festo Certificate - Award Title “Practical Electropneumatics”  City & Guilds Certificate o In conjunction with Festo Didactic, joint certification unique to this course o Award Title –”Electropneumatics”

Engineers Ireland – CPD: All training undertaken with Festo will count towards your individual trainee’s annual CPD (Continual Professional Development) record with Engineers Ireland.

Funding/Grant Aiding: Skillnets:Festo programmes have been successfully approved for funding via various Skillnets. It is up to the organisation to secure its own Skillnet funding if such funding is available

Directions to Festo by Car – (1) Travelling North to South on M50 Motorway:Located five miles south of the city centre, Festo Ireland is located in Sandyford Industrial Estate, close to Leopardstown Racecourse. The recent M50 southbound extension greatly improves access to Sandyford Industrial Estate from the airport and other national routes. When travelling southbound on the M50, take your exit from the motorway at Junction 14 (sign-posted Dun Loaghaire). At junction 14, the slip road that you will be taking branches into 3 lanes as it approaches a roundabout. Stay in the middle lane and take the 2nd exit from the roundabout. Once you have exited the roundabout, stay in the left lane and carry on until you reach the next roundabout (Leopardstown Roundabout). At this roundabout you will take the 1st exit to enter into Sandyford Industrial Estate via Burton Hall Road. There will be 2 lanes of traffic – you must be in the lane closest to the middle of the road. Under normal circumstances there will be a proper set of traffic lights at the junction between Burton Hall Road and Blackthorn Avenue. Pass straight through these traffic lights – you are now in a one way system - move to right hand lane and after approximately 100m, take the 1st right hand turn into Burton Hall Ave. Now take the 1st right into Sandyford Park and follow round, Past Eircom Phonewatch to get to Festo Limited.
