Building a Church of 10,000 People Through Evangelism

Pastor George Pearsons

I see the people of EMIC taking their places—in church and the workplace, at school and in their ministries....

8

Everyone, Everywhere Personal Evangelism Training Manual

I am pregnant with a vision—a church of 10,000 people, an army of mighty believers of all ages, growing in faith, standing strong in God, and established in His living Word. I see every member reaching out to family, friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, the poor and the affluent, the lost and the hopeless, their communities, states, nations, and the world. I see each one as a minister and leader, burning with an unquenchable desire to reach out with the message of victory about who we are in Christ and to share the good news of our covenant rights and privileges in Him.

Five-Point Divine Strategy George Pearsons

1. Identify your vision (Habakkuk 2:1-2)

I see established believers discipling new believers and new believers becoming established and reaching out to the lost.

2. Locate your scriptures (2 Peter 1:1-4)

I see the people of EMIC taking their places—in church and at home, in business and the workplace, at school and in their ministries—fulfilling their God-ordained destinies and reaching their God-given potential.

3. Establish your heart (Psalm 1:1-3)

I see God’s standard of love, conduct, character and integrity in them making the difference everywhere they go. I see the imprint and impact of our church growing more and more every day as we take our place in God’s magnificent plan for His Church, and receive the fullness of His vision for us.

4. Get in agreement (Matthew 18:19-20) 5. Walk by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7)

I am fully persuaded that in our pursuit of this vision, the members of EMIC are healthy, wealthy, thriving, flourishing and filled with God’s vision for our future!

Focus Eagle Mountain International Church There is a global mission for every believer. It’s very clear in the Scripture, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel.’ You can’t go into all the total of the world. But you can go into the world that God has called you to.

Evangelism Department Mission Statement The purpose of EMIC’s Evangelism Department is to: • Win the lost • Mobilize the congregation • Bring in the harvest of souls to EMIC ( John 4:35-38)

• Increase community awareness of EMIC

“There is a boldness to witness that comes on believers when fear is eradicated from their lives—freedom to talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime, under any situation, about the living Word of God and the Most High God. There is a creative evangelism, a supernatural boldness that rises up from within, that causes them to reach out to witness to people in their world, in their sphere. Paul told Timothy to do the work of the evangelist. And that is what every one of us does—the work of the evangelist. And without fear, there is no limit to the people we can talk to. We are the light of the world, we’re the salt of the earth. When there’s no fear in us it shows. God has not given us the spirit of fear. He has given us power, love and a sound mind. The word fear in the Greek means “timidity.” We don’t have a timid spirit. Wherever, whenever, whoever, we are, we’re not timid to do whatever God tells us to do.”

Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psalm 127:1

Evangelism Scriptures

Everyone is sent. Jesus sent all believers into the earth... we’re all told to evangelize. We’re all supposed to share Jesus. ‘Go into all the world. Preach the gospel.’ That’s to every believer. —Pastor Terri Copeland Pearsons

12

“‘For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.’” John 3:17, nkjv “But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of seeking and saving that which was lost], and then all these things taken together will be given you.” Matthew 6:33; Luke 19:10, amp “‘Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere.’” Mark 16:15, nlt “For you have been called to live in freedom—not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Galatians 5:13-14, nlt

“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. For herein is the saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men have laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.” John 4:35-38 “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins.’” 1 Peter 4:8, nkjv “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds).” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 “But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:20-21 “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men….” 2 Corinthians 5:11

Seven Habits of Highly Established Christians by George Pearsons 1. They feed their spirits by making it a habit to read God’s Word every day. 2. They build up their faith by listening to God’s Word every day. 3. They strengthen and encourage themselves daily by speaking God’s Word over themselves and over their lives. 4. Renewing the Mind Whatever is in God is in you and me. Keep reminding yourself of that. It is the process of the renewing of the mind that will bring you to a place of total deliverance and freedom from fear. —Pastor George Pearsons

“‘Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.’” (Daniel 12:3, niv) “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” (Romans 12:2, nlt-96)

14

Everyone, Everywhere Personal Evangelism Training Manual

Evangelism and soul winning is not a gifting from the Lord, but a command to every believer. We are all called to affect our world for Jesus! But we must change the way we think. Most people have a wrong perception about evangelism. Mark 16:15 tells us to go and tell the good news—not the bad news. People have already heard enough bad news. To be effective soul winners, we must see ourselves as God sees us. We will then be able to do the greater works Jesus spoke of in John 14:12: “‘The truth is, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father’” (nlt-96). Believe You Are What the Word Says You Are “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7, amp).

Say out loud what God says about you: 1. I am redeemed from the curse of the law! (Galatians 3:13; Romans 8:2) 2. I am the righteousness of God in Christ! (2 Corinthians 5:21) 3. I am a child of God, a joint heir with Christ! (Romans 8:17; Galatians 3:26) 4. If God be for me, who can be against me? (Romans 8:31) 5. I am more than a conqueror! (Romans 8:37) 6. I am anointed! (1 John 2:27) 7. I am an overcomer! (1 John 4:4; Revelation 12:11) 8. I have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16) 9. I have ability to do all things! (Philippians 4:13) 10. I am a royal priesthood! (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6) 11. No weapon formed against me will prosper! (Isaiah 54:17) 12. With His stripes I am healed! (Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24) 13. I am blessed above all people! (Deuteronomy 7:14) 14. My needs are met! (Philippians 4:19) 15. I am strong! (Joel 3:10) 16. I am delivered from the power of darkness! (Colossians 1:13) 17. I am bold as a lion! (Proverbs 28:1) 18. I am triumphant! (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Things to Know Before You Go We are the light of the world. We are the salt of the earth. Take an aggressive, proactive stand for Jesus. Take charge. Take over. It’s time to forward march. Let the Church take her place. We make the difference. —Pastor George Pearsons

16

Everyone, Everywhere Personal Evangelism Training Manual

1. Set a goal—Before you go, set a “soul goal.” 2. Put God first and He will take care of your needs (Matthew 6:33). 3. Overcome fear-filled thoughts ( 2 Timothy 1:7). 4. Talk to everyone! God would never say, “Don’t talk to that person.” Mark 16:15 says, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere” (nlt-96). 5. Refuse to receive rejection personally. If they reject you, they reject Jesus. (See Matthew 10:40.) 6. The Word of God speaks to the person’s spirit man. Isaiah 55:11 says His Word will not return void.

Five Keys to a Fear-Free Life by George Pearsons

1. Realize you don’t have to put up with, manage or cope with any fear.

7. Believe for favor with people.

2. Realize that Jesus delivered you from the master stronghold of fear—the fear of death.

8. Reach out your hand and say, “Pray with me.” Don’t ask if they want to pray. If they don’t want to, they’ll say no.

3. Realize there’s no fear in the family of God—only love.

9. Compel them through love!

4. Realize that God is for you, with you and in you.

1 0. Be nice to other churches’ evangelistic outreach teams: Don’t debate doctrine! If they try, smile and walk away. 11. Don’t debate with people of other religions or denominations.

5. Release your faith and continually renew your mind.

12. Don’t talk to employees on the job if they’re busy with customers. 13. Obey civil authorities. 14. Smile and be friendly!

Using Our

You Are Loved Tract Our EMIC You Are Loved tract is a seed we sow into people’s lives when we share the good news of salvation with them. Following are some scriptures on seed sowing: Genesis 8:22 (niv)

The love of God is the foundation of the Church.

‘‘‘As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”’ Matthew 13:1-9 (nlt)

—Pastor Terri Copeland Pearsons

18

“Later that same day Jesus left the house and sat beside the lake. A large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat there and taught as the people stood on the shore. He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one: ‘Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a

Everyone, Everywhere Personal Evangelism Training Manual

footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.’” Haggai 2:18-19 (nlt) “‘Think about this eighteenth day of December, the day when the foundation of the Lord’s Temple was laid. Think carefully. I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn.’” Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 (amp) “He who observes the wind [and waits for all conditions to be favorable] will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap. As you know not what is the way of the wind, or how the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a pregnant woman, even so you know not the work of God, Who does all. In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening withhold not your hands, for you know not which shall prosper, whether this or that, or whether both alike will be good.”

The Lord spoke to Kenneth Copeland in 1978, saying, I want you to establish a place where love is king. And that’s what we are doing here— establishing a place where love is king. —Pastor George Pearsons

Our EMIC tract is called You Are Loved! and has produced successful results in witnessing to people. This tract is at the heart of our personal evangelism. We want to let people know we love them! You may design your own tract using our wording (below) and include your church’s contact information:

I believe the ‘E’ in EMIC also stands for evangelism—we are a bunch of evangelists and every day we go out there and do creative evangelism. —Pastor George Pearsons

God loves you! Love never gives up! God’s love for you endures through every circumstance—no matter what you have done in the past. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:19 that God is no longer counting people’s sins against them. When God sent Jesus to die on the cross, He paid the price for our sin. You are forgiven! The only sin that will keep you out of heaven is not believing in Jesus. All you have to do to know you will go to heaven when you die is: Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). You are ready! To make Jesus Lord of your life, pray this prayer: “Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus is Your Son. You sent Him to pay the price for my sin. I believe You raised Him from the dead and He is Lord. Today, I make Him my Lord. Jesus, come into my life!”

20

Everyone, Everywhere Personal Evangelism Training Manual

There are different ways to share our faith. The best way is the one you will use! Our soul winning is based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7:

Love is patient and kind. When we share Jesus, we are patient and kind.

Love is not jealous or boastful or proud. When we share Jesus, we are never jealous, boastful or proud.

Love is not rude. When we share Jesus, we are never rude.

Love does not demand its own way. When we share Jesus, we never demand our own way or debate religion.

Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. When we share Jesus, we are never irritable and keep no record of being wronged.

Love never gives up.

You have nothing to do but to save souls. Therefore spend and be spent in this work. And go not only to those that need you, but to those that need you most.... It is not your business to preach so many times, and to take care of this or that society; but to save as many souls as you can; to bring as many sinners as you possibly can to repentance. —John Wesley

When we share Jesus, we never give up because God’s Word will not return void.

How to Use the

Pocket Reference

for Soul Winning Card

Using our Pocket Reference for Soul Winning card produces successful results every time! Remember, it is not you who must make something happen, or do the saving. Jesus merely told us to go and tell the good news! He will do the rest. (See 1 Corinthians 3:5-6.) Initially, when you see someone, smile. Can you smile? Next, ask if they live in the area. If they answer yes, ask if they go to church in the area. Then ask, “If you died today, where would you go?” If they reply, “Heaven,” ask, “Why should God let you

in?” If they say they don’t know, or have an answer other than Jesus is their Lord and Savior, share the following scriptures from the Pocket Reference for Soul Winning card: Romans 3:23 (niv) “For all have sinned….” Romans 6:23 (niv) “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

This is so simple, easy to do and easy to follow—yet effective. It is truly a life-changing experience for both me and the recipient! —Frances P.

Romans 10:13 (niv) “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” After sharing these scriptures, extend your hand and tell the person to pray this prayer aloud with you. (Do not ask them if they are ready to pray.) Say: “Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. I give You my life. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart. Amen.” If the person is already saved, I tell them that Paul told Timothy to “do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:5). They can do the same.

“I had always been in fear of sharing Jesus with someone. I held tightly to my Pocket Reference for Soul Winning card and recited the questions and Bible verses in my mind. I prayed with 33 people my first night, and I am ready for more. God is so good! —Kim S.

Food Outreach We see the Church being the healing, delivering, soulwinning, discipling, praying Church she needs to be. We are the salt of the earth. It’s a good thing we’re here on earth. It’s a good thing that we’re at the jobs we work at. It’s a good thing we’re doing what we’re doing. —Pastor George Pearsons

26

Every month EMIC offers boxes of food free to individuals and families. We also give them information about how they can obtain a similar box of food monthly at a discounted price. Whether we go door to door or set up a location in the community for our food outreach, our goal is to let recipients know that God loves them! We let them know He has a wonderful plan for their lives and pray with them for salvation, healing or encourage them with faith-filled words. Sometimes we hear, “There are so many other people who need this more than I do.” A good response would be, “That may be true, but God wanted to show you how much He loves you today!”

Everyone, Everywhere Personal Evangelism Training Manual

What to Do When You Get There • Going door to door: When you arrive at the door, ring the bell and step back so you are clearly visible to those viewing you from inside. When they come to the door, smile and say, “Hello, my name is ___________________ and I’m from Eagle Mountain International Church. We’re here today to bless you with a free box of food. We wanted to let you know that God loves you!” Ask if there is anything you can pray with them about. Let them know our church is in the area and invite them to come if they are not attending another church. • Pray!: When the recipient(s) receive the box of food and share openly with you about their prayer request, be sure you are listening and are specific in your prayer of agreement with them. Be bold as you pray the Word of God over their request. • If there are no prayer requests, pray anyway: Pray for God to bless them. If they specifically ask you not to pray, don’t. Our goal is to let them know our church cares about them, not to overstay our welcome. Be specific, courteous and time sensitive.

Food Outreach Dos and Don’ts Do: • Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit • Invite them to church • Use scriptures in your witness • Always offer prayer before leaving • Ask if there are other ways you and your team can be of help, then give any feedback to the church for potential follow-up • Closely supervise children who are with you • Drive your vehicle as a witness— obey all laws

Don’t • Don’t take risks • Don’t tell them you’re there because they are “poor” • Don’t offer personal opinion or advice when you pray

Guidelines for Children and Youth The most important thing a parent can do for their child is to exhort or to encourage, to charge them, to speak over them and to declare that they are to walk worthy of God—the God who has called them to His kingdom and His glory. —Pastor George Pearsons

• Children (up to 12 years old) must stay with their parents. Parents are responsible to ensure their children are respectful and obedient at all times. • Youth (males and females) are not allowed to sit together when traveling to and from outreach. • Youth must be accompanied by an adult lead at all times. • Keep cell phones turned off, silent or on vibrate. Keeping in touch with parents should be the only reason youth are on the phone. • Children and youth are not allowed to wander off. They must always stay in pairs and are never to be alone. • For their protection, youth must follow the instructions of the adult lead with them. • Children and youth are not to handle merchandise, play or shop when at the mall or other businesses, while witnessing

with the team. They are to stay focused on the task at hand and remember why they are out: to minister and to become skilled soul winners! • Youth who have proven themselves faithful over time, will be given leadership opportunities. Jesus said in Matthew 25:23, “His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things”! • Youth leaders may only walk around with other youth leaders. Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” We want to avoid youth leaders being swayed or influenced by the peer pressure of other youth who want to do something other than win souls.

are a team. Avoid shouting out or comparing with one another the number of people saved or sharing others’ prayer requests with team members. The day’s victories can be discussed at the end of the evening. We want those around us to understand our motive and heart’s desire is LOVE—God’s love! • Don’t give out personal information other than the reason you are out and the church you are representing. • Use the soul-winning card and the scriptures on it. You can believe someone will receive salvation, but unless the scriptures are shared, the person’s spirit will not hear the Word and it won’t happen. This could be the reason for lack of results.

• Remember, we are not competing against each other. If only one person receives salvation, all the angels in heaven rejoice. We

Prophecy Word From the Lord Pastor Terri Copeland Pearsons December 31, 2006

“Would you find Riley for me? He needs to come real quickly. I have a word. As Dad was giving the call to the altar and seeing people come down, I had a sense of something in my heart. I’ve had it before the Lord the last several days. “Lord, what goal would You have us to have for souls in the kingdom? “You know, with setting goals like that and the Lord giving you goals, you have to be careful that people don’t become some sort of a number or notch on your belt. That’s not what it’s about. It’s about souls and lives. But it helps us to stay motivated and to keep reaching out and reaching people. “As those people were coming to the altar, I got a sense from the Lord. And Riley, I wanted you to be out here tonight as I give you this. Even though this word from the Lord and those scriptures that [Pastor] George read are not for everyone, they

can be. They are for the obedient. And the scriptures I want to read are not for everyone, though they can be. But they are for those who believe. In our soul winning this year—this is particularly directed to every person who is willing to lay down his own life enough to tell somebody else about Jesus and to lead them into the kingdom. “So Riley, I wanted you to hear this for your team, but it is for this team as a congregation, Eagle Mountain International Church—where love is king and love leads people to Jesus.” Mark 16:17-20 (amp) And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; they will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well. So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the attesting signs and miracles that closely accompanied [it]. Amen (so be it). “And so, the Lord put in my heart, Riley, that as we step out in 2007, it will not be as it has been in years past, but there will be a new level of signs that will accompany the Word preached when people believe. There will be healings. There will be miracles. There will be demonstrations of demonic activity and at those times the authority of the believer. The authority of the Name of Jesus, working in and through the believer will be evidenced, will be proclaimed, and will be in demonstration in great power, in great might, in great strength for every person who will lay down his life enough to believe what Jesus has said. And so our faith is set. “The Lord will speak to us further about number goals. He has already told us where we are to go, what we are to do, and where our emphasis is to be. But I see in my heart, the vision in my spirit, is that this year the numbers may be beyond our ability to count as we set our faith in the direction of the signs and wonders to accompany the preaching of the Word that there’s life in Jesus.” Eagle Mountain International Church

Testimonies

Lord, we set our faith for signs and wonders and miracles in the Name of Jesus. And, Lord, we expect entire cities, entire communities to come into the kingdom of God because of the signs and wonders and miracles, in the Name of Jesus. —Pastor Terri Copeland Pearsons

“Before the Evangelism Team left EMIC, a team member was suffering from a fever. No one knew about it. She said that she almost didn’t come because of the fever. She decided to come anyway. As she sat in our meeting before we left the church, the fever left her.”

“A young Jewish woman approached me at the mall with a question concerning the cosmetics she was selling. I asked her if she knew where she would go if she died. She said she didn’t and I said, ‘Pray this prayer with me.’ There was no hesitation. She is now going to heaven!” “Tonight I spoke with two women at the mall—one was already saved but her friend was not. Her friend prayed with me to receive Jesus. Afterward I noticed that the woman who prayed with me was wearing a sheriff ’s badge! Praise the Lord!” “Once we got to the mall, the Lord told me to go into the convenience store there. No one was in the store but the employee. I spoke with him and found out he was a Hindu. He prayed the prayer of salvation with me!” “In Wal-Mart, we walked up to a man and asked him where he lived. He gave the name of his city. When I asked him where he would go if he died that night, he said he didn’t know. He said he was Buddhist. I shared the scriptures from Romans with him and he gave his heart to the Lord. Then he said, ‘Thank you.’”

“At Wal-Mart, we saw a man in a motorized chair. We decided to ask his wife if we could pray for his healing. She said, ‘Yes.’ We laid our hands on him and prayed for healing for his knees. When we finished, Riley was standing there and asked what was going on. They told him about the man’s knees and that he had a bone spur which was causing a lot of pain. Riley laid his hands on him, and within a minute or two, the pain was gone! His wife had some back pain. We all laid our hands on her and afterward she was able to bend over and said she felt a lot better! This couple received instant manifestations of healing. As we were leaving, the wife told us that Brother Copeland is her stepmother’s cousin. She said they used to get the BVOV magazine and that she was going to call the ministry to get her subscription renewed. (Riley said that as he walked through Wal-Mart, the Spirit of God had said to him, Somebody is about to get healed. When he saw us praying for the man in the motorized chair, he came over. He knew they were the ones God was talking about!)”
