Every Monday morning (or when over $20 or $50) “overs” are banked and “unders” are compensated Changeover On changeover of shifts the person currently in TAB will print off a balance ticket (See balance enquiry in the TAB Terminal Function Sheet) for each terminal and count their drawers to see the amounts are the same. If there are any discrepancies they are recorded in the Shift Progressive Discrepancies Book shown above. The new person starting must also recount the terminal drawers to ensure no errors have been made. Closing On close you sign off Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and finally Sign off Office (must be signed off last) on Terminal 1. This will give you the balance for each terminal and the overall Safe Balance. You will then count the money using the Operator Balance Sheet “sign off” section for each. Once again any discrepancies are recorded in the shift progressive discrepancies book. Once you have done this you make up your 2 $1000 floats for the following days trade- BUT DO NOT RECORD THIS. To help the person counting the floats the following morning complete an Operator Balance Sheet for each float.

Sweeps and Commissions Every Monday and Thursday you will usually have sweeps print on your morning safe balance. You must take this money out and bank with “SWEEPS” on the Till Count Sheet. On Thursday mornings you will normally have Commissions print on your safe balance. Take the amount specified out and bank with “Comms” on the Till Count Sheet. Your safe balance will $3000 after Commissions.

Selection of the horse number F= Bet on entire Field You can only do a win bet for a fixed price bet (win amount stays fixed)

The Win/Place is the simplest and most popular bet type. You select a runner or runners to win and/or be placed first, second or third. Win bet is available on every race, and a Place bet is available subject to the number of starters in a race: 1. Where there are 8 or more starters (or at least 7 if the field has been reduced by a Late Scratching) then 3 place dividends are paid. 2. If there are 5, 6, or 7 starters (or 4 starters if the field has been reduced by a Late Scratching), then there will be No Third Dividend (NTD). 3. If there are 4 or less starters in a race, then there is No Place Pool (NPP) and any Place investments will be refunded. The minimum bet for Win or Place is $1. A Win and Place bet on a runner is also known as an 'each way' bet. WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR RUNNERS IS SCRATCHED? In race 7 for the BR meeting today: you feel sure that runners 4 or 8 will finish first, second or third with any of 2, 4, 5 or 8 with them.

WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR RUNNERS IS SCRATCHED? If one of your runners is declared a 'non-runner' or is scratched after you have placed your bet, your money will be refunded on every combination that includes the scratched runner. F. TattsBet- Fixed Price

TattsBet allows you to take a "Fixed Price" bet on your favourite sporting event and selected races. Being Fixed Price means the dividend to be paid is set at the time of purchase rather than when the results are entered.

26 TAB Training Manual

TattsBet propositions are listed on the TattsBet Section of the menu and have a unique 4-6 digit number. Bet by specifying this number. Depending on the type of proposition requested depends on whether you win, for example a First Try Scorer is not dependant on who wins the match. WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR RUNNERS IS SCRATCHED? With the exception of 'Final Field' Racing events, all bets are "all in". This means that if your selection is declared a non-runner or is scratched after you have placed your bet your money is NOT refunded. The exception is on some Racing events where a Scratching after 'Final Field' is called will be refunded - these are marked as "Final Field". G. All Up

For each bet you specify if you think the runner/s will WIN or PLACE

This bet type is similar to Doubles, Trebles and Quadrellas, however gives the flexibility for you to select your own races and whether the runner will Win or run a Place. Up to four races can be selected from the one meeting; enter the race numbers, the selections and whether the runner is to Win or Place. Behind the scenes, UNiTAB will put your Win/Place bet on the first race, and your winnings from that race become your investment on the second race, and so on for each of the selections. Naturally if your selections do not create a dividend for you, your All-Up bet will stop.

27 TAB Training Manual

The minimum initial investment is $1 and must be in whole dollars. You feel that in today's BR meeting: runner 1 will win race 4, runner 3 will come a place in race 5, runner 5 will come a place in race 8, and runner 7 will win race 9.

WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR RUNNERS IS SCRATCHED? If your selection is declared a non-runner or is scratched after you have placed your bet your refund on that selection will be treated as a dividend of $1 and carry forward to your next selection. H. Mystery Bet

You don't even have to select the winners on this ticket. UNiTAB's computer will pick three horses at random, including two of the five most favoured starters at the time of purchase. If they fill the first three placings, you Win! $1 or $3 The $3 Mystery bet will win regardless of the order of the runners as they cross the finish line, however will only pay half the dividend (0.50 x $1Div). See an example of placing a Boxed Mystery Bet using Netbet Express. The $1 Mystery Bet will pay the full dividend, however the runners must cross in the order the computer selects. See an example of placing a Straight Mystery Bet using Netbet Express. 28 TAB Training Manual

You want to put a Trifecta on the next race (or the Feature race) but do not wish to pick the runners and you want to have the best chance to win.

WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR RUNNERS IS SCRATCHED? If your selection is declared a non-runner or is scratched after you have placed your bet, your money will be refunded on that selection. I. Jackpots Keep a look out for jackpots for each type of bet. If there are no winning units on a bet type (i.e. Trifecta, First4) the pool jackpots to another meeting at a future date. The jackpot pool is always carried over to a meeting of the same code of racing. Please note that partial jackpots occur when the total of winning investments is less than 100%.
