Our Mission Is to unite Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho Native Americans with the trades and the growing opportunities on and off the reservation. To increase awareness of training and employment opportunities in and around Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. Introduction: Wellpinit School District and the area tribes are proud to announce its 2nd annual career fair at the Spokane Convention Center in April. We would like to work collaboratively with the local trades and tribes to provide opportunities in the region by bringing us all together under one roof. Below are some examples of what we hope to offer: The trade schools through the apprenticeship coordinators; the apprenticeship coordinators are called the “Eastern Washington Apprenticeship Coordinators Council (EWACC). EWACC is a 19 member organization comprised of coordinators throughout Eastern Washington. They represent a wide array of trades; including aerospace, bricklayers, carpenters, cement masons, electricians, iron workers, laborers, operating engineers, roofers, plumbers, heavy equipment operators, just to name a few. We would also like to invite the tribe and tribal departments to discuss opportunities happening in and around the reservation. Opening it to the public and to all of our tribal members; in and around the region, and giving us the opportunity to target that greatest number of tribal members. We have invited different building trades to explain their apprenticeship opportunities, as not everyone is interested in college and the trades give those who are interested a viable career path. We have also invited representatives from the Avista Corporation and The Washington State Department of Transportation to explain their career opportunities. Finally, we would like some feedback and ideas of companies you’d like to see there. If you, and your department, have a company in mind please contact us. As it would help to put those companies in front of our tribal membership to make that direct contact. We would like to see the human resource department from each tribe there to help with any questions and to provide job opportunities.
