CHRISTMAS fun in Grimsby and Cleethorpes Taking a trip to Cleethorpes during the Christmas period, you will find a host of activities and events to get everyone in the family in the festive mood. On 25th November, Cleethorpes illuminations will be bringing light to the resort. Lincoln’s Historic Guildhall The Stonebow is situated on the site of the southern gateway to Roman Lincoln. It is a gateway that has stood for over 1800 years although the present building was not completed until 1520. The Guildhall sits proudly above the Stonebow and is the official home of the Mayor. Tours are available of this interesting historic building that includes the main Council Chamber and most importantly the old debtors’ prison which holds an impressive range of civic insignia, including the King Richard II sword and many Mayoral and City artefacts.

city centre. This year’s Market will feature more than 280 stalls, selling clothing and crafts, and all manner of tasty, locally produced food and drink. Visitors from all around the country come to the market to indulge in the Christmas spirit and enjoy the scents of mulled wine and fresh food, with live music and much merriment. Lincoln boasts a wide range of retailers, not only familiar high street names but many respected indendepent shops too, offering everything from boutique fashions and home furnishings, to delicious local produce. You can easily spend hours browsing the many small shops in the historical centre of the city. Then relax and enjoy the scenery at one of the welcoming and homely tea rooms or restaurants located up the hill, such as Bunty’s Tea Rooms or The White Hart Hotel.
