February Newsletter 2012 Yes it’s the end of February 2012; I can’t believe it’s here already. Well we have now been to the new venue for the meeting; it was nice to be in front of an open fire on a cold night. The inn itself is quite roomy, and plenty of space to spread out in. Ron welcomed us in and I did manage to have a couple of Guinness’s – what about you Kev!! I would like to welcome our two new members from Woodhall Spa, namely Jeff and Carol Drew – that’s funny almost my name! Don’t think they’re related, though my great grandfather, old man Drew, had two large families and lived and moved around the Norfolk and south Lincolnshire area in the early 1900’s - spooky if there is a link. Welcome Jeff and Carol, hope to see you again at the next meeting. We still have some members who have not yet paid the subs, if you could let Di have some dosh, or even let us know if you are not rejoining us. We will be looking at some events to subsidise throughout the year and hopefully we can get a good turnout for the Stanford Hall meeting in September. Front Cover; Harry’s classic car, yes there are more original Mini parts on his Rolls chassis than on a Beamer – sorry - BMW small car – Lovely!!

Busy program for IMM 2012 Mini Club Hungary aims to host best IMM yet. The more we hear about the 2012 International Mini Meeting at Balatonfüred, Hungary, the more excited we get. Plans are now well underway for the event, which will take place on May 24-28. Organizer Mini Club Hungary aims to organize the best IMM yet, and has devised a packed program that involves tourist excursions and a variety of fun leisure pursuits to take place alongside traditional IMM activities. The club’s huge promotional campaign, which has seen it travel all over Europe, has been a resounding success. Registration has been open since June 2011, and by the end of November close to 800 Mini fans had signed up. At the time of writing there were still some bungalows available at the campsite, but you’ll have to be quick if you want one.

Plenty of traders are expected at the event, with various Mini traders booked in alongside stands selling traditional Hungarian crafts (including those selling Hungarian pálinka – a strong alcoholic drink!). The excursions will include trips to local attractions, a wine tasting tour and even tours of the Hungarian capital, Budapest. Other activities are a fishing contest, Mini slalom race, quiz, waterskiing, a Mini pedal boat race, and various Mini-driving events including a rally and a 200-car convoy around the area. There will also be a Mini Drink Day, that invites participants to bring a bottle from their own country, and even a Mini wedding! In addition, the program includes all the usual highlights and attractions we’ve come to expect of IMM events, such as the key handover ceremony and prize giving. See www.imm2012.hu for further details and to book your place.
