The International Bioenergy Industry is meeting in Graz With nearly 1,100 participants from 33 countries, the Central European Biomass Conference 2011 was a great success. We are confident that the 4th Central European Biomass Conference, to be held in Graz from the 15th to 18th of January 2014, can even surpass this figure. The Austrian Biomass Association, the Styrian Chamber for Agriculture and Forestry and BIOENERGY 2020+ GmbH, who are organising the conference in co-operation with Messe Graz, warmly invite you to this event, which will take place concurrently with the Home Builder Fair at the Messecenter Graz. The conference languages are German and English in simultaneous translation. From 2010 to 2020, the total final energy consumption of biomass in the EU is expected to increase by 63 % to 2,200 PJ. That makes the absolute growth of bioenergy higher than for all other renewable energy sources together. The 4th Central European Biomass Conference will provide a comprehensive overview of political, economic and technological developments in the field of energetic biomass use in Europe. The focus of attention will be on the following spheres: Bioenergy in the context of 100 % renewable energies Material versus energetic use Energy policy in Europe

Other focal points will be the topics of: biogas, energy crops, heat from biomass, electricity from solid biomass, biofuels and biorefineries, fuel logistics and preparation, new markets, economic effects of sustainable bioenergy deployment, bioenergy in urban areas, wood ash and torrefaction. New resources from agricultural land and waste are becoming increasingly important for the supply of biomass. These will be looked at especially on the excursions, during which the harvesting, processing and upgrading in particular of new raw materials will be demonstrated in actual practice. The Conference also serves as a platform for the exchange of information and experience as well as for networking. Opportunities to do so will be provided especially at workshops, B2B meetings and the Conference Dinner. Around 130 speakers will present the latest findings on bioenergy in 16 blocks of presentations at the 4th Central European Biomass Conference. We hereby warmly invite you to do a presentation yourself and request that you submit your experiences and projects in the form of a paper to our international Scientific Committee. Internationale Bioenergie-Branche trifft sich in Graz Mit knapp 1.100 TeilnehmerInnen aus 33 Ländern war die Mitteleuropäische Biomassekonferenz 2011 ein großer Erfolg. Wir sind zuversichtlich, dass die 4. Mitteleuropäische Biomassekonferenz vom 15. bis 18. Jänner 2014 in Graz dieses Ergebnis noch übertreffen kann. Der Österreichische Biomasse-Verband, die Landwirtschaftskammer Steiermark und die ­BIOENERGY 2020+ GmbH, die in Kooperation mit der Messe Graz die Konferenz ausrichten, laden Sie herzlich zu dieser Veranstaltung ein, die parallel zur „Häuslbauer-Messe“ im Messecenter Graz stattfinden wird. Die Konferenzsprachen sind Deutsch und Englisch in Simultanübersetzung.

Weitere Schwerpunkte bilden die Themen Biogas, Energiepflanzen, Wärme aus Biomasse, Strom aus fester Biomasse, Biotreibstoffe und Bioraffinerie, Brennstofflogistik und -aufbereitung, neue Märkte, volkswirtschaftliche Effekte nachhaltiger Bioenergiebereitstellung, Bioenergie im urbanen Raum, Holzasche und Torrefizierung. Bei der Biomasseversorgung gewinnen neue Ressourcen aus landwirtschaftlichen Flächen und Abfälle zunehmend an Bedeutung. Dem wird besonders mit den Exkursionen Rechnung getragen, bei denen die Ernte, Aufbereitung und Veredelung insbesondere von neuen Rohstoffen in der Praxis vorgeführt werden.

Der Endenergieverbrauch von Biomasse in der EU wird von 2010 bis 2020 voraussichtlich um 63 % auf rund 2.200 PJ steigen. Der absolute Zuwachs der Bioenergie ist damit höher als bei allen anderen erneuerbaren Energieträgern zusammen. Die 4. Mitteleuropäische Biomassekonferenz wird einen umfassenden Überblick über die politischen, wirtschaftlichen und technologischen Entwicklungen auf dem Gebiet der energetischen Biomassenutzung in Europa geben. Folgende Bereiche stehen im Mittelpunkt:

Mit mehr als 470 Ausstellern ist die Grazer „Häuslbauer-Messe“ (16. bis 19. Jänner 2014) die führende Bau- und Energiemesse im Süden Österreichs. Ein Hauptschwerpunkt der Messe ist der Präsentation von Bioenergie­-Technologien gewidmet.
