Black & Gold Club Mission Statement The Black & Gold Club is dedicated to providing financial support for intercollegiate athletics at Ohio Dominican University, and helping Panther student-athletes, coaches and athletic department staff achieve success on and off the field of play. Membership is open to all individuals and organizations with a desire to contribute to the academic, athletic and personal growth of ODU student-athletes, while abiding by NCAA, GLIAC and ODU policies and principles. The support of alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends of Ohio Dominican, as well as businesses and charitable foundations, is vital to build and sustain a competitive NCAA Division II athletic program that exhibits integrity and sportsmanship on campus, in the local community and beyond.

About NCAA Division II • Overall Academic Success Rate for NCAA Division II student-athletes is 71 percent (2003-2006 Cohorts for Division II Athletics). • Nationally, graduation rates for Division II student-athletes are consistently 10 percent to 15 percent higher than those for the entire student body. • Almost none of the student-athletes competing in Division II will receive a full athletics grant that covers all of their expenses. But some will receive partial financial aid to help them through school. For the rest of their expenses, they are on their own – using academic scholarships, student loans and employment earnings just like most other college students. • NCAA Division II’s Strategic Positioning Platform is Life in the Balance. It emphasizes that all student-athletes develop the following six attributes: Learning: multiple opportunities to broaden knowledge and skills Service: positive societal attitude through contributions to community Passion: enthusiastic dedication and desire in effort Balance: emphasis on collective knowledge, integration of skills Resourcefulness: versatile skill set drawn from a broad range of experiences Sportsmanship: respect for fairness, courtesy, ethical conduct toward others
