Pre-Medicare Retirees

Get Real-Time Price Estimates for Health Care When you pay a percentage of the bill instead of a flat fee, it helps to know the cost before you go — especially before the bill arrives and it’s too late to do anything about it. In fact, sometimes you’re not even sure where to go for the health care services you need. WellMatch® is an online tool — and mobile app — that can help you make confident health care decisions based on quality and price. Consider this scenario: Your doctor recommends you get a colonoscopy. There are several places to go in your area but you’re not sure which has the best rates. The fact is, prices can vary greatly. In Chicago, the cost can be as low as $650 or as high as $2,210. From which price do you want your percent share calculated? And you’re not sure if you’ve exhausted your deductible! That’s where WellMatch comes in. Here’s how WellMatch can help: Access WellMatch from your Aetna secure member website or visit www.wellmatchhealth.com online or download the mobile app to access WellMatch from the doctor’s office or anywhere. You’ll need to register the first time you use it. 1. Choose the procedure; in this case, a colonoscopy. 2. You’ll see top picks based on price, quality and location. 3. You can click to see a price estimate for each provider option. You’ll get a breakdown of the cost estimate, including the provider’s standard rate vs. your rate as an Aetna member. Because WellMatch is an Aetna tool, it syncs up with your plan to include any remaining deductible and your coinsurance (percent share of the price) before the final estimated amount that you would owe. 4. Check out other details about the provider, such as location, ratings and patient reviews. Then, just choose the provider you want to use. WellMatch makes shopping for health care that easy!

Pre-Medicare Retirees

Evaluate the MAP Plus Option 2 Plan for 2017 During annual enrollment for 2016, we asked pre-Medicare retirees to do the math when evaluating health plan options — and many of you saw the value in the MAP Plus Option 2 Plan. In fact, over 1,200 retirees made the switch into the MAP Plus Option 2 Plan with over 900 migrating from the MAP Plus Option 1 Low Deductible Plan. Medical premiums are increasing for 2017 A number of factors contribute to increases that will impact pre-Medicare retirees: • Claims experience for both Option 1 and Option 2 continue to rise. • More retirees have moved to Option 2. As retirees in the plan age and their health status changes, the overall health risks impact the plan cost. While Dow tries to keep costs down as much as possible for you, increasing cost trends continue to be a reality. Premiums will increase for 2017, but the MAP Plus Option 2 continues to be the lower-premium option for Pre-Medicare retirees. Lower Premium Often Outweighs a Higher Deductible A high deductible can seem scary, but often, a low premium can more than offset a high deductible. And, with the MAP Plus Option 2 High Deductible Plan, you can stash the dollars you save in premium costs into a health savings account (HSA) so it’s there when you need it. Plus, HSA dollars are tax-free for even more savings. Same network and prescription drug benefits as option 1 You can rest easy knowing that the MAP Plus Option 1 and Option 2 Plans share the same network of Aetna doctors and hospitals. So you won’t have to change doctors. Both plans also have the same prescription drug coverage through CVS/Caremark. Take the time to evaluate your options Many people spend more than they need to on medical coverage by choosing a plan with higher premiums and more coverage than they actually need and use. Don’t just look at what’s higher or lower. Consider the services you expect to need in the coming year. While you may pay more out of pocket at the time of service with MAP Plus Option 2, big savings in annual premiums may save you more in the long run.
