STUDENT ATTENDANCE  Regular attendance is a significant student responsibility at all grade

levels. Many studies correlate regular attendance with success in school. Regular attendance means that the academic learning process is not interrupted, less time is spent on making up assignments, and students benefit from participation and interaction with others during class.  Establishing a pattern of good attendance will benefit the student in school and in the workplace. Attendance is important for the development of a high quality work ethic, which will be significant factor in a student’s success with future employment. One of the most important work habit that employers look for in hiring and promoting a person is his/her dependability in coming to work every day on time.  This is a habit that Antwerp wants to help students develop and maintain.

NOTIFICATION OF ABSENCE  If a student is absent, the parent(s) must notify the school at 419-258-

   

When no excuse is provided, the absence will be unexcused and the student will not earn academic credit for that day. If the offered excuse for the student’s absence is questionable, the school staff will contact the parent. The first 5 absences, per semester, may be excused by a parent contact (phone call or note). Beginning with the 6th absence and every absence after, per semester, the student will need a doctor’s note for the absence to be considered excused.

PAYMENT OF FEES AND FINES  It is important that you pay your student’s fees and fines as soon as possible.  Students will be provided the necessary textbooks for courses of

instruction without cost. In accordance with State law, Antwerp charges specific fees for activities and consumable materials used in core & elective courses.  Failure to pay fines, fees or charges may result in withholding of grades and

credits, denial of participation in extra-curricular activities, denial of driving privileges, and other deemed appropriate.  Payment of school fees, or arrangement for payment, is to be completed by

the end of the first mid-term of the school year. Students are to be current with school fees or on a payment plan from the previous school year.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES  The school’s rules and procedures are designed to allow students to be

educated in a safe and orderly environment.  All students are expected to follow staff members’ reasonable directives
