Auto Modelbouw Club Apeldoorn The AMCA track

The Track The entire track consists of a special asphalt type and surface, completely dedicated to RC cars. The track has been built slightly slanting and the curves are positioned under a slight angle. The track is also provided with a proper drainage system, so that the rain water is drained fast. The total length of the track is 254 meter. The narrowest part is 4 meters wide, the widest part 6 meters and the pit lane is approximately 1 meter wide. At the main straight of 50 meters, speeds up to 120 km/h can be reached. With several small corners (before and after the main straight) direct after each other and a relatively fast intersection in front of the pit lane the best of concentration is expected from the drivers. Around the track a low fence is placed in order to protect the spectators. For the so called helpers special sections have been constructed in the fence in order to ensure their maximum safety while doing their job. With all of these features, the track complies with all national and international standards and requirements.

History Auto Modelbouw Club Apeldoorn is one of the RC car clubs in The Netherlands that has the luxury of an own permanent track. The track has been built in 1990 and during the years it has been upgraded by building many practical facilities for spectators and drivers. The AMCA is known as one of the most beautiful tracks in Europe.

History of International Evenements The high quality of the AMCA circuit and its accommodation have been reason for the national and international organisations (NOMAC, EFRA, IFMAR) to ask the AMCA for organising important international events. Auto Modelbouw Club Apeldoorn organised the following events. 2004 Tamiya Euro cup final 2004 2002 KYOSHO KWC Germany final 2002 2001 KYOSHO KWC Germany final 2001 2001 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP IC 1:10 2000 EFRA Dutch Grand Prix IC 1/8 1998 IFMAR World Championship IC 1/10 1997 EFRA European Championship IC 1/8 group C 40+ 1997 Serpent Challenge Cup (organised by Serpent MRC) 1996 EFRA European Championship Electro Circuit 1/10 1994 Tamiya Euro Cup 1994 EFRA Dutch Grand Prix IC 1/8 group C 1992 EFRA European Championship IC 1/8 Touring cars 1990 EFRA Dutch Grand Prix IC 1/8 group C Contact data Auto Modelbouw Club Apeldoorn P.O.Box 675, 7300 AR Apeldoorn Telephone: 055-5418386 Internet: www.amcaracing.nl Email. Route description Leave the highway A1 at exit 20 Apeldoorn-Zuid / Beekbergen. At the end of the highway exit turn left on the Kayersdijk street. Follow this street (Kayersdijk) for 1380 meters and then turn right in the Rijnstraat. At the Rijnstraat turn with the corner along to the left. At the first possibility turn (right) over the railroad track and follow the road to the right. Follow this street (Kanaal-Zuid) along the canal. After approximately 200 meter you will see on your right hand side the AMCA track. Drivers stand At the drivers stand all drivers have a perfect view over the track. At this drivers stand basically a maximum of 13 drivers can stand, which is more than sufficient for the usually 10 drivers per heat and final(s). During the races the race control board is also keeping and guarding the transmitters on this drivers stand. in order to prevent any frequency problems during a race. Paddock Like in full scale car racing, the RC car racers and their own mechanics at the AMCA track have the availability over a decent and roofed paddock, where they have all space for working on their RC cars.. In total there are around 130 working places with various auxiliaries such as lights, 220V/50 Hz connections (for the loaders) and several wrench banks. In the paddock there is a dedicated area for truing the tyres and cleaning the cars by means of an air compressor. Guest driving As a guest driver, during the track opening times, you are most welcome to get to know our track. You will have to report in advance at the canteen, and against a fee of € 7,50 (and a deposit of € 10,-) you are free to drive the entire day. The deposit will be refunded after returning the guest driver's badge. Please pay attention the race calendar and check if there is a race going on.

Furthermore it is important to realise that guest drivers are only allowed to make use of the track maximum 3 times as a guest driver. Reason is to prevent excessive quantities of guest drivers during the free training days. We assume that by that time you got to know the AMCA well enough to become a member or not. Please note the race calendar elsewhere on this website. As a guest driver you need to have at least 2 different frequencies, in order to prevent interference with the club members, who do not have to chance their frequencies during the training days. At race days the track is only available for the race competitors. The same is valid for the Saturday preceding the race day. At those Saturdays the only allowed drivers are those who are competing in the race at Sunday. Facilities Monitors / sound system At strategic places, at various places on and around the track, monitors are placed so that the race progress can be monitored closely by everybody. These monitors are positioned, amongst others, on the driver's stand, in the pit lane, the paddock, in the room for the technical inspection, and of course several monitors in the race control room. All over the track area, amongst others: in the paddock, the driver's stand, in the pit lane and around the entire track, speakers are placed which are connected with the sound system, so that the drivers can be informed by the race control staff about the progress of the race. Lap counting system During races, every individual car is followed fully automatic by the computer. Monitored are, amongst others: the number of laps, lap times, and passing times. Even during the training the computer is always on, so that the drivers can monitor their own lap times. The basis for the lap counting system is the commonly used lap counting system AMBrc with personal transponders. Technically the system works as follows. In the track a counting loop (an electrical wire) is integrated and every car has its own personal transponder aboard. The cars transmit with their transponder a unique signal. This signal is picked up by the counting loop as soon as the car driver over it and passes this signal to the counting computer. With special developed software on the lap counting computer the lap

times are calculated for every car. All of these data are rearranged constantly so that the progress of the race is clear at any time. Score panel To make the system complete, some AMCA members, during the year of 1996, amongst others: John Langen, Gert Gerritsen, René van Lobberegt and Ben Veeneman, have developed and built by their own a huge electronic score panel (dimensions: 3,50 x 1,75 meter). It is a complete own design of mechanical parts, electronic control and software. This is a unique score panel in the model racing sport, especially because all 10 drivers in the race can be monitored perfectly and easy by the audience.

Tribune To give the audience a perfect view over the track, AMCA members have built a tribune in 1990 which offers sufficient sitting space to approximately 200 spectators. The access to the tribune is always free of charge.

Canteen Of course the Auto Modelbouw Club Apeldoorn has its own canteen. In the canteen for example coffee, soft drinks, and other food and beverages are available. It speaks for it selves that sufficient and proper toilets are also available. Other than that, a telephone and fax can be used. The canteen is open at every club evening (Wednesday) from 19:00 until 22.00 hrs, and at Sundays from 13:00 to 17.00 hrs. During a race the canteen on Sunday is open at 09.00 hrs. Maintenance On a daily bases some AMCA members, are taking care of the maintenance and the further modernisation of the all facilities.

Track opening times The track is open on every Sunday from 13.00 to 17.00 hrs and almost every Wednesday evening from 19.00 until 22.30 hrs (club evening). Until 20.00 hrs driving with IC cars is allowed, and after that (for reason of the noise) only Electric cars. The track is provided with sufficient lights, so that during the winter season, driving the RC cars is possible until late in the evening, of course as far as the weather circumstances allow it. This is only of course when there are sufficient drivers present. During the winter months it is also sometimes possible to drive in our spacious canteen on a small indoor track with RC cars of 1/18 u/i 1/28 scale, obviously only electrical powered. The track is also during the entire year open on every Sunday afternoon, with exception of official holidays, from 13.00 until 17.00 hrs for Electric as well as IC car drivers, so you are most welcome to get to know our activities during the weekends. In case you want to drive by yourself, and in order to prevent disappointment, please first check the race calendar elsewhere on this site. In case you want to compete in our club competition, you will have to be an AMCA member, subscribe yourself for the race latest on Wednesday before the race (through this website), and you have to be present at the track at 09.00 hrs. By the way, audience is evidently always most welcome during the training and the races. During the course of the Sunday afternoon, usually the race becomes very interesting during the semi-/ and finals.

Race control organisation In the winter of 1996/1997 the preparations were started for building a brand new race control & technical inspection building. This new building enables the AMCA even more to organise big international events. With this new building the technical inspection staff now has more space for the required technical inspection equipment. The race control organisation (depending on the type of race) consists of a race control director, a time keeper, a voice over, a track official, transmitter inbound, and technical inspection. Sometimes specific jobs are combined, and for important races the mentioned individual jobs will be handled by more than one person, especially the technical inspection. The upper floor (above the race control room) is completely assigned for meetings during important international races. The technical inspection At all races the technical testing is very important. At all classes, after each qualification heat and finals , the cars are among other things inspected on width, height (also of spoilers), and total weight. IC cars are for instance checked for the correct type of air filter, the so called INS-box (Inlet Noice Silencer) and whether the exhaust system is as per the international EFRA regulations. Electro cars are inspected for the engine, the carbon brushes, the battery type and the tyres. AMCA board members Founder Ben Veeneman Founder and spiritual father of the AMCA. Ben switched from his R/C controlled air modelling hobby to R/C car racing for reason of his son Jeroen. Already at very young age, his son was obsessed by everything that had wheels, so a beginning was made with an R/C racing car. Ben and his wife Tineke have formed the AMCA to a leading R/C car racing club. Ben is from 2004 onwards no longer active as chairman, but at the background he is still very close involved with the AMCA. Ben and Tineke are currently enjoying their life with their children and grandchildren.

The AMCA board consists of the following members: Chairman: Vacancy. Treasurer John Langen Co-founder in 1980 of the AMCA. In the first years active as general board member and starting from 1997 until today as Treasurer. Besides this I take care of the members administration and coordinate the technical maintenance of the track. I do this by full surrendering, so that there is just insufficient time for racing by myself. In the first 7 years of the AMCA, I was a dedicated stockcar driver, together with my son. I am married with Joke and we have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. In the past I have been working as mechanical draftsman/engineer, chief of a machine producing factory, and since a few years as technical advisor at Bosschart Grafische Machinehandel BV in Apeldoorn. Secretary Richard Engbersen At the AMCA I take care of all secretarial items, work in the race control board, and take care of all maintenance of the website. I am married with Nina, we have a son of 8 years old named Rico and we live in Almelo. I work for the only Dutch tyre manufacturer in Enschede, being responsible for the production of 2-wheel tyres at our production locations in the far east. Besides of that I work at other middle-/ and far east projects for other product groups. In the past I was a fanatic Stockcar driver, and my best result was a 6th position at the European championship. After that I spent a lot of time air modelling with airplanes and heli-copters at Dutch championship level. In January 2005 I have started racing 1/8 scale. General board member Rob Stuart Since December 1994 I have been member of the AMCA. When my son Rick, then only 5 years old, started to play with a Nikko RC car, I discovered a world of serious RC-car racing. I started with the F102 Tamiya, at that time a very popular F1 class at AMCA and with the National Championships (NOMAC). A few years later we chose for Largescale 1/5. Besides racing, I was in several administrative functions within both AMCA and acted as the President within the NOMAC. Outside the AMCA I am father of three children and "sponsor" of my wife with her nine horses. To coop with that financially I work as a director for a European sales organisation selling memory chips.

General board member Frans Peters I am general board member at the AMCA and besides that I also assist at the race control board. I am operative at the KPN in Amersfoort. The department where I work, occupies itself with making logical connections by means of the glass fibre network of KPN. In the years between 1980 and 1989 I have driven in the 1/8 IC class. In 2002 the race feeling came back and I started in he 1/10 scale Electro class at the AMCA. Until now I am with much pleasure member of a sociable and well equipped association. General board member Cees van Dijken I am general board member general at the AMCA, besides that that I am also one of the race control board guys and I also do the race control coordination. I live with my wife and two children in the “Betuwe”. I am operative as a representative at a distributor in car materials in Tiel. I have started model car racing a very long time ago and several years ago I have picked it up again with an Electro stock. Soon my son and daughter found it very nice to drive as well. My son still drives and I am more busy with repairing and from time to time I drive by myself. And of course I fulfil my task within the AMCA board with much pleasure. General board member Huub van der Leeuw At AMCA I am general board member, besides that I am also one of the race control board guys. I am married with Karin and we have a daughter Sabine who is almost 4 years, and live in Almelo. I am operative at TQC, a company that provides instruments in the coating industry. I started my RC hobby back in 1979, as I lived in Rotterdam, which is surrounded by lots of water, with model boats. During winter times there were some RC car driving activities in the Gym with Tamiya cars. In 2001 I became a member of AMCA, and started with 1:5 Largescale cars, and participate since 2003 in the 1:10 Electro class. I hope to be still years remaining, with much pleasure, member of a good equipped club, the AMCA.
