Dear Parents, Annunciation School went Vegas-style for the annual Tradition of Excellence event this past Saturday night. Much thanks goes to the Tradition chairs Dan and Heather Cibulskis and the Casino Night chairperson Julie Cibulskis. With generous help from the 5th Grade parents, Julie and Candy Shankle, the decor chairperson, creatively transformed the school gym into a Vegas casino complete with game tables and professional dealers. Colleen Hefke and Patti Feltes arranged for delicious food from Sayvor Custom Catering and our own Knights of Columbus were skillful, friendly bartenders. The guests enjoyed a sweet candy table and delicious desserts, created by Chris Felber and Jean Cibulskis. All the Cubs fans were grateful to Jeune Winkel, our technology coordinator and fellow 5th grade parent, for helping to provide live streaming of the big game. The silent auction offered great items for bidding and included creative class projects designed by Jennifer Gallenbach and her committee. Tradition of Excellence Casino Night was a great success thanks to the help of our great Annunciation families! As I mentioned two weeks ago, each student needs to have a set of headphones here at school for use in the computer lab and in their classrooms while working on the Chromebooks or laptops in the primary building. You may order your child(ren)’s headphones online using SchoolSpeak, but please note that if you order online through SchoolSpeak you must pay online. When you log into SchoolSpeak, click on “Headphones & Headsets” and follow the instructions. There is an order form in the newsletter if you would like to send payment into the office. All orders are due by Friday, October 28. If you obtained the headphones on your own, please send them to school by Thursday, November 3. Work on the church basement renovation is scheduled to begin this week and should last for the next 6-8 weeks. During construction, there will be no access to the area behind the church near the grotto. Children will only be allowed to walk in front of church when traveling between the buildings; therefore you may need to alter drop off and pick up plans for children in the primary building. Please discuss your plan with your child(ren). The Beautification Committee accomplished great work on our campus before school started in August. We would like to turn our attention to inside projects. If you would like to help discuss plans for beautification improvements, there will be a meeting on Sunday, November 6 at 9:30am in the rectory patio. Any school parents are welcome to join us. Sincerely, Mrs. Jennifer Wardynski ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parents and Families: Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading: • Set the example. Let children see you read. • Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills. • Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read. Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits. Book Fair dates: November 9th 3:00-4:30, November 10th 12:00-8:00, & November 13th 8:30-12:30 Special activities: Coloring Contest Pictures Displayed PreK-3 and Pirate Ship Displayed 4-8 If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our online Fair is available from November 9th to November 12th. We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school. Sincerely,

Annunciation Home & School
