Welcome and introduction Beth Candy (BC) welcomed everyone to the meeting and everyone introduced themselves. Attendance register attached in Appendix A.

2

Presentation BC gave a presentation on the proposed Landau 3 mine residue (MRD) reclamation project. Presentation attached in Appendix B.

3

Discussions BC inquired which mining right number should be included on the application form. The MRD is located on the farm Klipfontein JS 322 portion 27 within the Khwezela Colliery (formerly Kleinkopje) mining right area. The material will be processed either at the Khwezela Bokgoni (Kleinkopje) or Khwezela Navigation (Landau Navigation) plants. These are existing and currently operating plants. It was confirmed by the DMR representatives that as mining will only take place on the MRD, that only the Khwezela Colliery (KIeinkopje) mining right number (MP 30/5/1/2/3/2/1 (307) EM) will be included on the application form. The processing of the material does not form part of the application, therefore no additional mining right numbers need to be included. Themba Mazibuko (TM) asked if the existing plants have and associated waste disposal facilities have sufficient capacity to process and store waste material from the reclaimed Landau 3 MRD. Kobus Bergh (KB) replied that the capacities of the plants and associated waste disposal facilities is being investigated as part of a separate process and will be confirmed during the impact assessment phase.

TM wanted to know how the alternatives of the powerlines were considered. KB replied that several alternative routes have been considered and documented in the powerline scoping report. BC confirmed that the Department of Environmental Affairs is the competent authority for the powerline relocation environmental authorisation process. The DMR will be provided with a copy of the scoping report for review and comment as a commenting. Nditsheni Ramuhulu (NR) confirmed that an integrated application process should be followed between NEMA and NEM:WA. She further noted that the application fee for such an integrated application is R 15 000.00.

4

Way forward and closure BC confirmed that the environmental authorisation application form for this project will be submitted to the DMR on 7 March 2017 followed by the Scoping Report on 20 April 2017. BC thanked everyone for their time and attendance to the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 15:30.
