OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

To provide a transitional program for young adolescents that builds on the students’ foundation of basic skills and expands their growing interests and talents in an environment that understands and celebrates their intellectual, physiological, social and emotional needs.

YOUNG ADOLESCENTS’ DEVELOPMENTAL NEEDS: Positive social interaction with adults and peers Structure and clear limits Physical activity Creative expression Competence and achievement Meaningful participation with families and in school Community involvement Opportunities for self-definition

NAMS DRESS CODE: No clothing or jewelry with drug, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, violence, or sexual references No clothing with inappropriate, offensive words or illustrations No tops with thin straps, cutouts, or open mesh are permitted unless a t-shirt is worn underneath. Tank tops permitted that meet 3 finger rule. No exposed midriffs or low-cut tops No low riding pants that expose undergarments or skin No short skirts or short shorts: Fingertip rule: If any part of your hand/fingers touches your skin they are not permitted in school No hats, bandanas or hoods during the school day All shoes must be fastened to your feet. Shower thongs, flip-flops, slides, crocs and mules are not permitted without the strap in the back No platform shoes Teachers or principals may impose limitations if dress presents a health or safety hazard or may cause a distraction. You may be asked to cover garments or wear them inside out.

ESCHOOLPLUS: Login information will be available at the start of the school year Information available: grades, progress notices, calendar, activities, events, etc.

SUPPLIES: The supply list will be posted on the Neil Armstrong website by team and also at Office Depot. Supplies can be purchased thru Office Depot at a discounted rate. Planner/agenda will be supplied to each student by the PTO.

PARENT/TEACHER ORGANIZATION: Our PTO does a fantastic job of providing for and supporting our educational program. It won’t work without volunteers. NAMS PTO
